I'm gonna theorize Pei gets his this episode coming (16).

My theory before tonite's episode. JCY arrest is a setup in a setup. They knew they were coming for them (they have been following Pei) and it all gets pinned on Pei and cleans out the ministry of revenue and implicates (but doesn't take out) Ning. This leads them to speeding up their timeline for the coup which happens in ep. 18 (I think).

So where does the dancing mask scene fit - his comeback? Then we get the sexy stuff - then the coup?

Yeah. I can see that too. We *know* he's supposed to disappear and then reappear at some point. The "sacrifice" himself bit. So...

My theory is based on what ol'girl told Mudan they pin it on Pei. Like maybe JCY suspected this was gonna happen (they have been following Pei) and it's a setup within a setup.

Yeah that's what I meant - it's worded badly. So 16 (?) - 17 sexy stuff - 18 Ning - War - End.

Timeline speculation:
Ep 16 - Prison? Escape?
Ep 17 - All the sexy stuff
Ep 18 - Stabbed by Ning/Captured by Liu Chang

Ep. 18 was the guess. We know there is a separation and he comes back. Rp. 17 seems to have sexy stuff - but how does all that happen when he just got arrested.

Yes. Episode 15 is the setup for the rest of the season.

She also is in disguise with the slingshot looking like she's doing espionage stuff when she knocks the mask off his face and once again, looks genuinely surprised to see him like he's not supposed to be there.

Right and if you look at the trailer the dress she's in when they have what we all think is their first kiss, he grabs her before she goes over the railing and she's genuinely surprised to see him. Like she hadn't seen him in awhile.

Definitely a smart choice. lol

Though I'm gonna be honest I think there is a 50/50 chance he goes into hiding/separation happens and all the sexy stuff happens after that - so some of the sexy scenes we're seeing may be fake-outs or a ways off.

They are definitely guessing, but based on the original trailer and synopsis might not be entirely wrong.

Also I don't think Mudan gets imprisoned as much as she's captured by her ex. Which I guess feels like imprisonment - BUT according to the synopsis once JCY sacrifices himself she's working to help the emperor being Ning down - so the timeline is still unclear.

Timeline of some of the next episodes based on previews doesn't make sense considering the current events. Interesting to see how this plays out.

Basically what I've been saying. They'll get together. Get separated. War. End.
