I thought what we were going to find out was that she was that dudes kid - not that he poisoned her - and (plot twist) her dad was the bad guy. That would have at least been forgivable.

And think about it. The writers chose the most UNFORGIVABLE thing imaginable. lol. Like sat down was like....you know what this story needs, something so awful only a saint could forgive it. I guess Mudan is a saint and a martyr and a punching bag and at this point this season is on some Imperial Doctress level of BS. lol/smh

They are gonna be together b/c they want Mudan to suffer. Mudan finds out her mother was poisoned by the guy who keeps the orphans from the first season and JCY knew the whole time. And won't allow her to kill him.

This. Like the story lines work and actually work a little better if they are happy in a relationship. Can you imagine the drama of the Royal Princess trying to matchmake him while he's very happily married to Mudan? The kidnapping goes harder. The night in the palace is sexier. His suggesting divorce. Etc. SMH.
