For people who moan about Iblis:It's not that deep. You watched shows with Lucifer and other demons being positive…
You are wayy too intelligent and scientific for religious bigots . Lol! Run away before they come after you for "blasphemy". Blasphemy laws have killed millions around the globe. This mentality of shutting down atheists / creativity with mythology...comes from there

Isn't that wonderful? I like her writing style. ❣️

Ikr...i would love to see demon fall in love.
Nobody is forcing people to watch it ut saying that others shouldn't watch it either is purely dictatorship. Let others enjoy

Soo many people are talking about the abuse now which restores my faith in quality content watchers. I think this is a very fresh perspective 🤔... "its anti LGBTQ+ propaganda disguised as a BL". I kind of agree with that. 💯
In fact, i have mentioned it in my review. Its simple traumatic for people who have watched a mature portrayal of queer people.
The "bi" is ignored because the writer is actually a abuse romanticiser who writes cheap plots and makes her characters mere OBJECTS OF FEMALE FETISHIZATION. Those who have read the novel realise it fully. That's why her female characters (like ex) are nasty one dimensional and the males are weirdly sexualised.

They have normalised abuse here. I believe this has taken QUEER CONTENT TO BACK 10 -20 YEARS. Taiwan and even China was producing queer movies/ bromances with amazing scripts recently. Now that this has gained popularity, there will be a resurgence in fetish BLs . Why work soo much on mature couples when you can sell fetish for cheaper? Its truly sexist, mysogynistic and its promoting grape culture. Very sad indeed!

Its chinese MDL but better because the ratings here are manipulated A LOT but on douban, its mostly fair ratings…
I liked this drama...In fact, i loved it but its also trending on no 3 in china. I can't fault douban audience...they have given me some AMAZING GEMS which weren't popular outside china. Here on MDL, some really shitty wattpad romances had terribly high rating

Its chinese MDL but better because the ratings here are manipulated A LOT but on douban, its mostly fair ratings and great reviews. I guess chinese netizens didn't rate it too high...fine by me but I definitely trust douban far more than MDL

That's ironocally the main target audience. Its sad because this shouldn't be for them.I mean, MDL isn't actually…
Yes. I remember when she called them out.
In fact, many BL actors have also come out to protest against certain marketing campaigns where they sell their personal life...as in outside of drama, they have to give fanservice to fans who fetishize them together.

At some point, the jpop/jdrama industry...you won't believe the predator they had. Let's just call him J diddy.
He graped soo hundreds of boys but the grape culture was soo rampant in the industry that no one spoke out for years... it was a common thing that every idol knew about/went through.

That's how much these actors/idols endure for fame.

In fact, the grape culture was soo deep rooted that some victims were thanking him even after his death (they got SAed by him when they were kids). Imagine that! Also, he died a natural death. So, he faced nothing.

I used to watch japanese BLs too...I like them more than this one. There are few exceptions where the grapist ends up with victim in J BLs but they show it as "a psychological disorder" and not love. By the end of it, i felt disgusted and that's how you know the writer has been successful in making people not romanticise abuse.
I am sure there are some deranged ones like revenged love as well but I don't have to defend that BS, as you said.
Why should we defend abuse?

Ikr! Why will I defend abuse romaticisation? This person expects me to fall for "straight drama vs bl " because they think I am naive enough to be a fan of any of this BS. That's the thing about crazy fans...they think that everyone is a fan and will jump to defend some perverted and useless thing in name of protecting their idol/drama.

I have watched soo much queer content without grapist romaticisation. Why should I waste my time watching this BS? I will simply pick better.

I have read the discussion you are talking about.

This is honestly insane.the depths they can go to defend a grape romantic comedy!

I can't believe they are trying to make this about BL vs non BL when its a man being abused. Its about a CRIME. Jeez! A criminal being shipped with the victim of the SA crime. My gosh! And in modern romance genre. Can you imagine?

What will make them happy? If we enjoy the man being abused like them and call it romance?

Its funny that I said that I wasn't attacked by some crazy fans and here you are!

Feminists NEVER ROMANTICISE RAPISTS AND ABUSERS but there's a lot of people with internalised mysogyny who do and this drama is a good example of that. Nobody talked about women being coddled here. I have certainly never liked ABUSERS being portrayed as romantics and I am entitled to my opinion.

No matter how many articles you copy and paste. It doesn't change the fact that THIS DRAMA HAS ROMANTICISED A RAPIST and we aren't obligated to like that romaticisation. In fact, we can call it out as we like...
As we would have done in any other case.

I don't care about game of thrones...and I didn't watch it but it shows ancient barbarians and their society which happened before any real development of human rights and not modern settings.
You can stop justifying an abuser to that extent.

We know about patriarchy and mysogyny and this drama is just another product of that. This drama is no different . Its trash and hence I will call ot trashy.
Besides, none of this is realistic. In fact, its a bad and unrealistic representation of ABUSER AND ABUSED. They have been romanticised and any dark and realistic reprecussions of abuse have been taken out from the drama to make sure the fetish isn't affected and psychological trauma doesn't ruin people's moods.

Handmaiden was about slavery. It wasn't a romantic comedy. What are you even going about? Which person thinks its romance like revenged love fans claim that its "light and its romantic". If someone thinks any of these genres are romance, maybe they require therapy just like the PERVERTED WRITER OF THIS DRAMA

This won't actually be solved as long as patriarchy and mysogyny has a good hold on society. Its sad. But I can tell you one thing, it won't stand the test of time (happened to many dramas that romanticised grapists) and will be viewed as "SA fetish" in a few years.
Are there people who still romanticise that? Yes! Because there is still huge gap in education and the general lack of empathy for male survivors.

I have hopes that collective consciousness will prevail overtime.

Most dramas...BL or Not that I have seen have never really fetishized grape or grapists to this extent. I haven't seen a grapist and abuser being described as "visually appealing object meant for entertainment".
If they do that , i will be sure to rip them apart in the reviews but I am sure nobody will dare to ship a female character with a grapist in 2025. That man will never become a romantic lead in a modern drama.

Romanticisation of the most henious criminals as lovers is a prime example of why the Fetishization here has crossed all bounds.
I am sorry but I don't think this is about BL vs straight as much as it is about THIS BL VS GOOD WRITING. I wouldn't justify this direction and defend this writer just because its not a woman being graped. I also don't think any of this is light hearted even though they did try to present the abuse as comedy. There's many chinese bromances as well as queer films with amazing depth for me to defend a badly written abuse saga

There's a lot of women who actually don't support content like this. Personally, I support queer content more because of their humane way of writing characters and its the most basic respect I can give to those creatives.

You don't get it. They won't to it in the modern genre in other dramas because the feminists will rightly rip them apart for unnecessary fetishization of grape.
But here, the empathy is less so you can go far with these things . Exept very few, most fandom will support it and the pros (money) are far more than cons. The drama isn't dark. The audience is!

That's ironocally the main target audience. Its sad because this shouldn't be for them.
I mean, MDL isn't actually taken seriously among lovers of good content in general. BL fans are almost like Kpop fans... its organised group of young ppl who are manipulated by producers and dragged into parasocial relationships. That's why they can rip you apart for disagreeing on the internet but the internet isn't the real world. In the real world, people understand marketing tactics...the manufactured "protect your idol" thing. I have worked with marketing folks.
So many of these young fans are unaware that "protect your idol/BL" is actually a well thought out marketing tactic to use people's emotions. That's what brings traffic.
There are better stories are queer content (for example, your name engraved herein) in the same language where the content is truly worth praising.

This drama reeks of fetishization of gay men for women...All the people who made the drama know it. This is exactly the audience they wanted to target. They didn't actually give any depth to it on purpose and if you think they are sorry for giving it soft porn flavor, you're wrong. I bet they wanted to make it more perverted because that would bring in more money. This isn't same quality queer content here.

Both chinese as well as western fans of the drama fetishize these men...the funny part is that they both blame each other for being more perverted because politics is also involved here. Overall, the producers understand that real life drama like this will only popularise their bad content so they deliberately let such things happen and even exaggerate it.

Let it be! Its the harsh reality of the world.
