here's a chronological timeline for episode 2 (from what i understand, i could be wrong).
IN THE PAST: - shortly after vier had given kelvin his number last episode, vier decided to stay in Bangkok to scout the business potential of kelvin. - everything in the episode happens (they get closer, business happens stuff yada yada).
IN THE FUTURE (here's where i have to put my theorizing hat on lol):
the show implies vier was kidnapped BY KELVIN 2 separate times, but vier has in general seemingly been kidnapped 3 times.
chronologically:
- vier was kidnapped FIRST by someone OTHER THAN KELVIN which caused vier's scar. this kidnapping possibly caused a fallout between vier and kelvin. (my reasoning fis that vier seems upset at kelvin, but not scared. he's more angry than anything. to me it doesn't seem like kelvin has kidnapped him yet) - kelvin and vier seemingly haven't talked after some time. kelvin, in his beautiful red suit (lol) has tracked down vier after a long silence between them. vier tries to get away from him. its obvious he is caught anyway. this is the FIRST time vier was kidnapped BY KELVIN. - later in the episode, there is a timeskip. vier had at some point ran to chiang mai, and kelvin was looking for him. the reason for him fleeing is not revealed. i think its implied he's hiding from kelvin (possibly escaped from him from the FIRST kidnapping). - due to kelvin's manipulations, vier and nana return to bangkok. that's when kelvin kidnaps vier a SECOND time.

Yall are so annoying. I'm constantly seeing demands for darker BLs and complex / morally grey or even bad main…
first: where are these demands? all i hear are complaints about toxic bl this, toxic bl that.
second: look, i'm all for toxic and dark BL's. but i like them with CONSEQUENCES. the problem here is that it doesn't seem like jimmy will get the full extent of what he deserves. i want him to GROVEL, i want him to SUFFER as much as toh did. and then maybe they can get back together. because if he doesn't get what he deserves, then what was the point? are we supposed to be happy that toh has been crying every single episode because of this POS? consequences make the pain WORTH the watch. consequences make it feel like jimmy has EARNED his place to be back with toh. further, there needs to be STAKES, and the THREAT of toh actually never forgiving jimmy. that what makes toxic BL the most satisfying for me.
without that, the series is just for masochists that want to watch a man cry his eyes out a million times an episode just to go back to the man who was responsible for those tears.
(mind you, i don't hate this show. i just want it to end in away that doesn't make me want to punch a wall lol.)

nah i understand, i think episode 2 was trying to do too much. even as a person who read part of the novel, i was confused as to the timeline. here's to hoping the next episodes get better.
hmm, i feel like the story was intentionally trying to go against everything you mentioned? for toxic masculinity, ken and his father are villains (one of them is a sexual assaulter and calls his fiancé a bitch) and the other fucked over his (now) dead wife for money. For internalized misogyny, Lalin was shown as a smart and capable woman that is trying to keep her independence from her asshole father. Nana was just introduced and im curious what her role in the story will be.
I agree the plot of this is reminiscent of overdramatized and exaggerated soap operas. if kelvin was a woman, i would have still been interested in the crazy story! insanity is what i expected from the trailers to be honest, but i can see how its not everyone's cup of tea!
ep 1: great start to a show imo. the time skip wasn't that jarring. i think it was done pretty well to show how they started / where they're at. ep 2: fumbled the bag with the time skips. i see what people are saying when they say its confusing! i already know the story (i read the book partially) but i still got confused lol! had to mull it over to make sense of it.
i hope they clear things up in the following episodes. doing a lot of time skips is difficult enough for the best of writers. for a BL drama to do this when the original source material didn't even involve time skips...an odd choice, but a bold one.

Sorry but most BL isn't made for gay people. Thats never been their target audience, like, ever. With the exception of a few shows that are very queer in their characters & story, BL is for straight women. Lol.
Teh is the kind of character who looks completely harmless until you actually sit down and trace the long‑term…
Wow. You made me realize how inherently selfish Teh's actions were the whole show. Sure he wanted to 'protect' his brother, but he was really was trying to control the situation because of his own discomfort. The more he tried to control it, the more angry he got when it was obvious it wasn't working. Instead of acting like a brother and merely focusing on Toh, giving him the care and attention he clearly was in need of, he went out of his way to try and mediate the situation on his terms.
Even Fah had to stop him from trying to control the situation with violence. Fah, I'd say, is the person that is acting the most appropriate in this situation. He warns Toh, but he's not fully trying to control his emotions. He supports Toh when he's hurt. He's doing what he should as a friend, which is warn, listen, and support when things go wrong.
I find Teh relatable because I was in a similar situation with a parent as a kid. I was trying to control the situation because I saw the toxic and abusive behavior a mile away. I was angry when she clearly wasn't listening to me. But as a grown up now, I recognize that behavior as just a desperate attempt at control over my own discomfort. I knew my mother was going to be hurt, and that meant I would be hurt too. The anger came from that.
Fah was completely correct when he said that Toh was the one who would have to make his own decisions. It's all you can do in these situations with a toxic partner. I don't think the show even knows Teh's own behavior has been problematic, but I hope with Teh bringing Jimmy to their home triggers some sort of self reflection.
of the 50+ BL's i've watched, this is the one that has stressed me out the most. for that i give it kudos.
i think mostly its because its a very accurate depiction of a toxic relationship, and how having low esteem can make someone a perfect target. it hits too close to home personally, but that's the show's best quality.
the bad thing is i know toh and jimmy are going to get together. instead of a cautionary tale, this will most definitely be romanticized. ugh.
im on ep 3 and it baffles me that ppl say they love fah. bruh he sucks too. idk what he does to make him an 'amazing bf' but at this point in time i hate him too.
Wait folks do we think they're going to keep the gang rape thing or nah? I hope they change it, it's the worst part of the fucking book...but also it's way too important for the plot so they're probably gonna keep it ugh.
The ML lets the MC get gang raped (for financial reasons relating to his brother) like bro?!?!? That's just the ML being greedy over being a yandere! And he's supposed to be obsessed with the MC??? The entire point of characters like this is the fact that THEY personally only get to touch and hurt the MC. But this ML is different, which isn't inherently bad. The greed over obsession is a first that could have been interesting but uh not like this.
