Title Love beyond the Grave Spoiler
I feel a bit let down by the ending(s). Don't know what it was in the novel so can't compare. Still... overall not bad, just a bit deflating

36 - When did HSM trade the latern? Why could she not control it when it's got her core in it? She was able to control it when it was inside DX, why couldn't she just take it back once she was in range? Or by grabbing it from Luda (who btw just was eugh, frustrating lil zealot who wouldn't accept reality)

37 - You're telling me that an Emperor smart enough to know about the cabal of DX, FXY and Prince, could not fathom that maybe, just MAYBE his request for help didn't get through? He knew DX's personality afterall, but his immediate thought was "traitor" instead of "I'm surrounded maybe they stopped the message"? FXY also can't suggest this, or hide the decree better or just destroy it? How did Pei even know it existed? If he suspected FXY enough, why didn't he think that FXY might sacrifice himself to end the corruption? Ugh, I hate smart people turning dumb just for plot.
* side-eyeing HSM over this too; her cleverness took a hit in the final 10 eps or so

38 - I liked the final battle, but I feel like it was too short? I dunno how yo explain it... the fact that the last two episodes focused on DX dying basically feels like we got TOO much closure in that respect. I mean neither DX nor CY (yay, he's back!) saved HSM... I thought CY's spirit would push her core back or something to help, not just absorb power. That DX didn't get there in time to help either is just... his sword seemed... not pointless since it worked in the battle but, underwhelming.

39-40 - Ziji feels like a ham-fisted deus-ex-machina. They never suggest there's immortals or gods, but suddenly Ziji is all-powerful and can change fate because she's realised maybe, MAYBE immortal rules are a tad ridiculous.
I did cry a bit, but I thought DX becoming a spirit through his sword, or the spell-effect would happen and be a bit more satisfying. I figured he'd come back somehow, and there is optimism in the main ending. The mini-ending feels ok - I know she wanted to be mortal, but it's all still abrupt, and doesn't quite connect. How long was she wandering before he turned back from spirit to human?

Editing suffered, it was suddenly really choppy, so it was confusing at times.

Overall, despite the critiques here, I did like the series. The CGI, sets, costumes, acting, chemistry were all great. I'll have to go through the bits and pieces and re-evaluate in a few days, but I'd still tell people to watch it.

I can't. It won't let me.

I wish I could post a pic. I feel stupid, but it honestly feels like there's a button missing, or a disconnect where it's not recognising coin balance. I can't move it up or down. Just stuck saying $5.99 (599 πŸͺ™ )

I did. But it comes up with the option between express, or bundle, and when i press the one i want, it says choose payment method, but won't let me do anything except stare at the price. I have enough coins...

Applause for Miles Wei!πŸ‘An actor who can evoke the kind of disdain and hatred I’m feeling for his character…
Most definitely! I want Yan Ke tortured in prison, but Miles needs a happy life πŸ˜†

Enjoying this soooo much. Love how DX is just running circles around the politicians and screwing over his dad! Dad wanted to have an apoplexy right there as DX made that vow πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚
Wonder if HSM realises who her dad's killer is... is it a long game or does she genuinely not know?
Is she so strong because she's technically half human? If her father could reproduce as a spirit, can she?

I soooo love this about her. A FL who can back it up as she stands her ground is so rare!
I like that her power isn't being compromised either. Sure, she's using a lot, but it's proving how insanely strong she is. No matter how much DX worries, he's not quite grasping it. He is well-written too btw, the contrast between them and how they act in their own and each other's worlds, as well as towards each other... I do enjoy good writing

Title Love in the Clouds Spoiler
Exactly. Trauma is trauma, and her life of being abused and brainwashed, effectively, into being the perfect warrior…
😊 thanks.
Notably, she doesn't actually trust him until she gets full confirmation in ep 11 that he didn't poison her. Hence her questioning a final time. It’s coincidentally at the same time he declares he trusts her (which he doesn't live up to, understandably, within a few days).

Unfortunately, we get blinded by God View as the audience. The things to remember are that:
- he wasn't completely honest until the day before her attempt. More honest overall, but not complete
- he has his own issues and traumas that make his trust conditional, whatever his feelings
- apparently, despite knowing that the Heavenly Grief was mass produced, it never seemed to occur to Ji Bozai that someone other than himself might seek the GMD for the very legitimate reason of fulfilling its function as the cure. Even if Ming Yi and Ming Xian were separate people, he know Ming Xian got sabotaged by Mu Qibai and suddenly lost power... what could cause that I wonder?
- Ji Bozai seems intent on both believing that all nobles suck and being deliberately ignorant of obvious truths that don't fit with what he wants to see.
This is part of Ming Yi's POV of the situation up to her attempt. It informs her actions, however much love there is.

As much Ji Bozai has his own very valid and understandable reasons for acting his way, Ming Yi has hers. It's just easier to side with him because his past is more obviously tragic (and he's an adorably gorgeous green flag for the most part), whilst her secret is so big it gets in the way of their relationship when we all want them together.

My thoughts on MingYi never being able to tell the truth to Ji Bozai is...MingYi has lived a in a lie her whole…
Exactly. Trauma is trauma, and her life of being abused and brainwashed, effectively, into being the perfect warrior and prince, has left her with a constant need to please, and fear of what happens when she can't. Her experience has taught her love is transactional and conditional. Even if she finds it different with Ji Bozai, unfortunately, it started as transactional and conditional. Every time he finds out a lie, he lashes out momentarily, even if he does forgive her. (He has every right to be hurt and upset, btw, not saying he's wrong) She's already been abandoned by her mother, and her father, simply for losing and being unable to be what they want. Now, she can't be the person Ji Bozai wants. Even if he gave her the GMD, she's still Ming Xian, and still has to go home.

On top of this, Ji Bozai innocently, but unfortunately, ends up setting conditions and saying kind of the wrong thing even when he's also saying a right thing. The big condition is of course, the GMD - he trusts her so much because she never went after it. She tries to actually tell him the truth but backs off because he's already upset, or he's not listening properly and assumes he knows what she's trying to say. Ji Bozai also, unfortunately, because of his own trauma, tends to gaslight himself, or be selectively oblivious when he should probe/wonder on her identity. It was a bit obvious after a while, but he kinda wanted things to be true instead of getting the actual truth. She says a couple of things rather seriously to his face, but he prefers to put his own truth on it instead of listening to what she's said even though he's trying to be nice and assuring at the time. Further, as much he says he trusts her and doesn't care, he ultimately doesn't live by this statement when push comes to shove. Perfectly understandable and human, but it's enough of an explanation as to why Ming Yi hesitates.

Coupled with everything you've said, she's a tightly wound ball of trauma, fear, and guilt. Not the best decision making mindset, and one more liable to be the fall guy than not. After all this, the lie is easier because it's something she has control over. The truth isn't.

Have you gotten a chance to read the entire novel? I would love to know the scenes/chapters that didn't make it…
I know! It actually provides loads of context. Instead we got extra torture and STL being a wimp. πŸ˜’

1)is there love triangle? if there how much deep it is ?2)when do leads will be together3)is there any breakup?…
Don't know how much to spoil on some of these, so I'll be careful and yet offer info.

1. Not really. There is another interested party for FL, but it's clear he's hopeless though.
2. Depends. They feel something by ep 10, when they "marry", but it's reaaallly complicated. There's another marriage... ceremony of sorts where it's not happy, then they fall some more, making it more real.
3. There are two break-ups. Ep 23 and then ep 32.
4. Yes.

From which episode am I supposed to hate Situ Ling exactly? I'm at episode 27 and the only thing I've felt so…
I found him the pitifully irritating kind, or irritatingly pitiful. It alternated. Yeah, his history sucks, but he uses it to justify his feelings or hold up his delusions. You feel sorry for him for being abused, and even that the person he admires doesn't reciprocate. But, he's not respecting her autonomy. He's helping her and expecting something in return - his altruism has a price. When he doesn't get it, he refuses to accept. Yes, he needs a hug and therapist, but he also needs a slap.
