I'm here to defend the mother here 1. This is Asia, it's not as common to get therapy as in other countries 2. This is the time past. maybe if Solar's mom had lived in Solar's time, she might have gotten help 3. We can clearly see she's trying. Someone with mental illnesses won't always function logically, but she tried. Am I saying she's a Saint and all her wrongs should be forgotten? No. I'm just saying that we are all flawed and different. Harping on a person with PPD when you can actively see them trying instead of trying to understand them is a bit cruel. As for Solar's dad though, I certainly would have liked more accountability on his part. His cowardice very much annoys me. I can understand it though, he has already failed his wife, why fail his son? But his method and actions were VERY wrong. I like how we get Pobmek as a contrast who faces similar problems of being a caretaker with kids, especially as he doesn't like kids, but he looks for help and does the brave and loving thing
