Exactly, why everyone is giving terrible comments??? this drama is not that bad like people are describing!!!!!…
Meanwhile, I came here to check if the rating had fallen and I find it's still quite high XD. We all have different tastes and while I respect that you enjoyed the drama, one could argue your rating is also based on your emotional response and not the quality of the show. Meaning, your enjoyment of the show shouldn't invalidate why others did not like it and vice-versa.

Frankly, I rated this a 4/10 based on how bad the script was written according to my standards. If I'd gone ahead and rated it based on my disappointment (emotional response) I would've given it a 0, lol. The potential was there, but the script was a trainwreck with a lot of "tell"(spoon-feeding our information) and not enough "show" (through scene development so we may discover said information) for my taste.

This is such a well written, informative article. Thanks for writing it.
Thanks for reading! I am hoping to finish writing and doing the graphics for the third and final installment sometime soon :).

Review Good Casting
Kudos. That’s one thorough review. I’m currently watching this drama, so I don’t have my final opinion yet,…
Thank you! And I agree and have really nothing against plastic surgery. But i don't know if it's that or her acting that i couldn't connect to (maybe a combination of both). She seems to always have this wide-eyed expression in every scene.

Although, now that you mentioned protect the boss, that's actually one of the few dramas I dropped and it was also one where I couldn't connect with the FL! So maybe there is indeed something there!

If you can, let me know what you think of the drama once you finish it. I am very curious because i did felt like was in the twilight zone with this one.

I don't think any of us are lol. While I didn't like the show, I understand and respect that there are people who do.

Still just wanted to say you gave a great response to a bad/hostile response. Good on you!

Title Mystic Pop-Up Bar Spoiler
I have this theory that Kang Bae is Wol Joo's unborn child. When Wol Joo died, she was pregnant which she was…
I agree that Chief Gwi is probably the king, who never reincarnated in order to stay with Wol Joo.

However, i was thinking perhaps Kang Bae is the reincarnation of Wol Joo's mother. Kind of going full circle and having Wol Joo reunite with her mom in this way. It would also tie in with what Chief said in episode 7, where he mentioned that maybe Wol Joo's mother was still watching over her.

Having said that, your theory is great and would tie Chief with Kang Bae, so i hope it turns out that way!

Well said. People may like it, but objectively speaking, it was bad. It was really bad, and what hurts the most…
Indeed, I really feel bad for everyone involved in this drama. I do hope the writer continues to polish her craft. It's clear she's very inexperienced in regards to writing and plot development, but that doesn't mean she can't get better if she puts her mind to it.

The only thing I appreciated from this drama was some of its cinematography. There were scenes that were beautifully framed. Aside from that, everything was a mess. Though I agree the story had potential which, unfortunately, wasn't taken advantage of.

I still have to muscle through the last episode, which I'll do so sometime today. However, for those who are asking that people stop "hating" on this drama, I offer the following point: I think it's good to get both good and bad reviews and/or comments for dramas since that will help people who are on the fence about watching make the best decision. I know that if I were to pick a drama after only reading praises that my expectations would be high and probably difficult to meet. In the end, I would simply feel even more disappointed than if I were to go in knowing the drama isn't perfect.

Having said that, you CAN love a badly written drama and hate a well-written (award-winning even!) drama. But a badly written drama still continues to be badly written. It doesn't become a well-written simply because one loves it. Instead, you may love it DESPITE how badly written it is.

This drama went downhill from episode 3 and, despite hoping it would get better, it didn't and hasn't for me. It remained badly written and inconsistent. The plot was messy, the characters remained undeveloped and things happened for "reasons" (which frankly seems to be the norm, nowadays). The fact, that we were spoon-fed most of the information (instead of being shown events through proper scene development) and most glaring of all, the number of inconsistencies, left in display the inexperience of the writer. As a result, even the ambiguity in regards to the morality of characters felt more like the writer's inability to fully commit to her own story rather than wanting to portray characters in shades of grey.

All in all, this isn't a drama I would ever recommend unless I was in to make you suffer...

I don't know if I've seen any "fast burns" dramas :))Does anyone have some examples?
The ones that comes to mind:
Born Again
The King Eternal Monarch
Devilish Joy
My Absolute Boyfriend (sort of, since the ML has been programmed to love the FL since the start).

The problem there would be that Tae Eul becomes a passive character and only the males become active.
I hope so, otherwise her addition to the story will be useless. My guess is that she will turn on Rim because she will want to protect the dad she just met. Predictable as that may be, it's the only thing that could work given there isn't time to develop her more.

Agreed, although that could be said for almost all characters hahaha. I will still take some contribution to none, though.

Yes I get what you are saying that is why I find it really boring as a " twist " because either there was a timeline…
Mr. Sunshine is a beautiful drama with two amazing female characters which are very different from one another and, therefore, compliment each other. But yes, it's a show that has a lot of sad moments. Still highly recommend it.

The actress of PM is also the FL of The Guest (she's a detective) and she does a great job on that one. Unfortunately her contributions are watered down towards the end, which sucks because she was the only female character in the show.

Btw, the drama Hyena also features a strong, ambitious, successful and very morally ambiguous FL. I find it hard to connect with the Main Leads exaggerated acting, but the characters were amazing and the FL was the most interesting aspect of the show.

Agreed. More and more I've come across dramas with badly written female characters (if any at all)! I've gotten to the point where i refuse to watch a drama if there is only one frmale acress credited on the main page. You'd think the world is only made of mostly men!

I loved the PM because she was a bit of an antihero but i wished she was given more depth. Btw, if you like these type of ambitious, successful, femenine and morally ambiguous female characters i highly recommend Big Issue (FL) and Mr. Sunshine (2FL). These women are badasses who use fashion like armor!

With Shin Jae i think the actor did great with the script he was given and really made us care for him... Only for the to not know how to handle him and dropped the ball :(.

I agree, but as we draw to a close, I wonder if Shin Jae, Luna, the old court lady & the Prime Minister will remain as unfulfilled potential. The way they reveal the old court lady's story seemed very anticlimactic and rushed. The Prime Minister had promise but she's shaping out to be little more than an ambitious villain. And Luna... well she got pulled into the plot so late I doubt she'll get any growth. And Shin Jae's story seems to have been wrapped up this episode (or at least the mystery side of it). Which means he was little more than a hostage and that's it.

I am also enjoying Pop-Up Mystic Bar precisely for the sense of teamwork. I also picked up "He is Psychometric" and I'm enjoying it immersely! Can't help comparing it to Memorist (which i didn't enjoy because the plot was ML-centric and the ML was unfortunately very overpowered) and finding it much better!
