im disappointed the show had so much potential i just dropped it i could not keep my brain turn off
I understand, I'm honestly not invested in it. I think if i had tried to binge watch, i would've dropped it. But watching two episodes per week helps with my tolerance of the absurdly weak writing.

This is one of those shows you need to watch with your brain turn off and just go with the flow. I can't honestly say I wait for each episode, but when I have nothing to do, I look for it because it doesn't demand anything from me.

The best thing are the fights if not so much the editing or directing of them (although they are still way below fight scenes from Netflix shows like "Daredevil" and "Punshier"). However, the biggest flaw lies in the characters, who feel very 2D to me borderline cartoony. For that reason, I'm not really rooting for them. I'm also unconcern whenever they are "in danger". They seem to be wrap in so much plot armor, that I realized the writers haven't been able to make me invested in the characters' well-being.

Add to that all of those scenes were we are "told" rather than "show" what characters do or feel and the writing becomes even weaker. Has anyone else noticed, for example, how we are often told by other characters that the Argo's chairman (forgot her name) is cool, that she shouldn't be underestimated, that "you don't know what she's capable of" only to be shown... absolutely nothing? So far she has really done nothing of worth. It's like the writers want to claim she's strong/cool/influential without actually giving her agency to show those things. And it's the same thing with Susan, the female scientist of the show. Where we're told by other characters all these things about her personality because she doesn't even have enough air time to develop her... smh.

At this point, I've given up on a tight plot, decent writing & character development. Which means I'll just keep watch for the fights and the eye candy. Emphasis on the eye candy.

I was excited for this one, but not really feeling/connecting either with the characters or the plot during these first two episodes. Hopefully next two episodes will be more engaging,...

Hmm. Just finished episodes 3 and 4, maybe this is the writer first drama and that's why the script felt choppy…
Have been wondering the same thing (just started the drama today), but it seems all of them got extra enhancements they forgot to mention to the audience. Heck, everytime they fight, they all get the robotic swoosh sound effect!

Or maybe he was supposed to get killed in his home by the guy who gets out of jail. But, for whatever reason, his partner ends up getting murdered himself. Thereby setting the timeline where Ji Hyun survives and, therefore, everyone else survive as well.

However, since they reset the timeline and Ji Hyun saved his partner, then he's continued killing. The only difference is that in this timeline Ji Hyun is alive and kicking. So the end game may be to have both of them square off.

Meanwhile (as a mentioned to another user down this thread) I think even Lee Shin (our "villain") is quite complex. I'm almost certain (I've been getting the feeling since that scene where she walked into the room of her daughter and found her hidden in her closet) that the reason she's resetting time again and again is to save her daughter. The scene in the hospital last episode seems to prove that.

So we can assume she's failed to save her quite a number of times. Which is why she's interested in the group that managed to stay alive during one timeline even though they'd continuously died in the others (defying fate).

The "experiment" is simply her trying to figure out how to replicate those results with her daughter. And you'd understand why she's gone a bit insane or she's desensitized to other's suffering. After all, by resetting the timeline, she knows that her actions won't really bear any consequences in the long run.

As you can tell, I'm loving this show hahaha.

My bet is that they will both reset, since they have been emphasizing their teamwork and partnership.

Trap, 2019. It's only 7 episodes, but they have an interesting premise. I didn't like the ending (felt they lost their way and ended up turning the story way too abstract), but it's a great one-time watch. Keep in mind, it starts a bit slow and heavy, so I don't recommend watching when you're tired.

Oh, and now that I think about it, K-drama "Soul" (2009) which also stars Lee Seo Jin also fits the bill. That one looks quite dated, but it's also an interesting story for sure.

That would've been interesting, I admit, but in this case I doubt it. I think I've only ever seen one K-drama where the ML (or one of the ML) was shown to be the real villain.

I agree. I think they're building her character towards that goal. And I love it and really hope they'll do it. So far, this show has portrayed women as very complex, morally ambiguous, interesting, active and beautifully flawed.

I think even our villain is quite complex. I don't think its detective. He's probably just went to the house since they had the promise. He probably went…
I agree. He was wearing a different jacket from the one who killed the "thug".

Of course, I've been getting the strong impression that the serial killer is actually Ji Hyun's partner. It would make sense. After all, the timeline where everyone was alive was also the timeline where his partner was killed. So now that Ji Hyun has saved him, it would make sense that they're starting to get killed one by one again. Perhaps the last to die would be Ji Hyun, after finding out that his partner is the one doing all the killings.

The scene where the partner grabs Ji Hyun's notebook and makes copies of his notes had an evil vibe even!

Or, on the same vein, perhaps Ga Hyun will become the friend that time travels in order to save Se Rin. Because, even if she lied, it's clear Ga Hyun loved her and saw her as a friend.

Title Memorist Spoiler
I thought I was being harsh on the female character which is why I kept my thoughts to myself, but thankfully…
See, I wouldn't even mind if she wasn't physically strong. But then she needs to bring something else to the table that the ML doesn't have in order for their partnership to work in a balance way.

If you're going to have him be physically strong AND get him super powers (memory scanning), then he needs to be reckless, emotional and unobservant (at least). He needs to rely so much in his powers, he doesn't know how to function without them (a proper weakness). Then you could tie in his fear of losing his powers because he has gotten to a point where his ability defines him. So without that ability, he would feel like he's got nothing to offer. That would make him an interesting character.

So then the FL would need to fill in the gaps. She needs to be the observant, calm and collected one of the partnership, in order for both of them to benefit. Something similar to the relationship between the leads in "Voice" and "Voice 2" (not Voice 3, though, that was a disaster and a crime what they did with the FL character).

The thing that makes it worst, is that it started that way in the first few episodes. She being observant and collected, him being emotional and reckless. After all, she noticed the cellphone difference in the surveillance video (which nobody else did) and followed the clues to get to the underground hideout. Meanwhile, he used his powers recklessly to get to the same place.

Except, somewhere along the lines, the writers ditched that balance in favor of an overpowered ML and an inconsistent FL, who grows weaker with the partnership rather than stronger. If they'd kept with their concept, she would've been the one to notice the furnace in the red herring's house, not the ML. And therefore she would have found the hidden room, not the ML.

Even the whole "nobody wants to touch the ML because he'll scan their memories" thing gets ditched. Now everyone's grabbing him left and right without fear! Nobody seems even remotely uncomfortable to be in his vicinity! I'm just frustrated with the new direction, so apologies for my rant.

Heck, at this point, if you analyze the FL's actions in the latest episodes and you'll be sadden to note that if you take her out... the show doesn't change. Even when she tells the ML not to do something, she's ignored in the next second, therefore minimizing and at times even cancelling her few contributions!

Since I'm watching 365: Repeat the Year at the same time, I cannot help but compare the shows and find this one not up to par. I'm going to give it this week to see if whether I'll drop it (and stop wasting my time) or continue it.

It goes even further than that for me. The ML is not only strong physicaly, has superpowers but he's also smart (so i also dont like him because he needs wraknesses to feel like a balanced character).

Meanwhile, we are told in the first few episodes that the FL isn't only smart, but she's a genius! As such she's capable of making connections on her own. So, before meetig and working with the ML, she was capable. Now, however, she needs to be spoofed obvious information by the now highly capabe and annoying perfect ML.

Case in point, she brings up the concept of a red herring this last episode... But she doesn't make the connection about who the red herring is. Instead, the ML does.

It's like the writer is purposely ensuring she is neither equal nor better than the ML! Heck, she comes to a fight with a gun while tge ML is unarmed... Only to get incapacitated in seconds by the antagonist so he can have an absurd one on one fight...

Not really feeling this show. I feel like the writers don't really know how to write the female lead because there are so many inconsistencies with her character. It is like they take turns writing them, but they don't read each other's stuff. As a result, she feels vastly underdeveloped (not that the other characters are developed, mind you).

I'm going to give it another week to see whether I'll continue this one or simply let it rest.

The female lead is so smart here .. It’s so refreshing to see I love it
I was just about to comment the same. She's not only smart, but successful, resourceful and active in resolving issues. A combo that should be the standar but isn't when it comes to female characters. So, needless to say, I'm enjoying this one a lot.

I mean, did you notice that there's more than one female character?! The fact that this surprises me with its rarity when it comes to crime shows is really sad.

I'm really really enjoying this show! I fully appreciate that the FL is quite an interesting, complex and morally ambiguous character. It makes me want to know more about her and her back story.

It certainly picked up the pace by episode 3 and I hope it continues to build and play with the great dynamic between the ML and FL.
