I loved it from beginning to end. It was a drama that was well-written and emotional yet felt light at the same time. A perfect watch to lift yourself up after a hard day of work, I'd say. Thanks for the article!

Honestly, if I wasn't watching while this drama aired (in small doses, I mean) I would've definitely dropped this. I'm still tempted to drop it, but the side characters keep me coming back. I will just keep skipping scenes and try to muscle through the parts I find uninteresting.

Is there romance? Because there is no romance tag here but I have seen it in other places.
There are very strong romantic vibes between the leads, imho.

It's clear the ML likes the FL and she seems to also return his feelings (or at least she has grown to care for him). So I'd say there is some romance in the midst of all the chasing.

I'm only watching this drama to see her second brother's love life..
I've now started to fast-forward the scenes involving the leads love story. I just want to watch the side characters' stories. I find them way more interesting!

I'm still enjoying the series. Yes, there are a ton of difficult characters to digest, but I really like the leads and their chemistry. Of course, I'm also waiting for the showdown between all the of antagonists. I really want to see the psycho husband get his ass handed to him by any of the other antagonists!

Yes, though unsure whether they would develop them all. So far they have hinted at 4 other couples forming.
My pleasure :)

Title Love with Flaws Spoiler
Yes, though unsure whether they would develop them all. So far they have hinted at 4 other couples forming.
The main couple is between Seo Yeon and Kang Woo. That relationship turns into a love triangle when Min Hyuk (2ML and ML's cousin) also starts trying to woo Seo Yeon.

Apart from those, we also get hints regarding the following secondary characters. I'm adding them in the order of how much "screen time" the particular couple has been getting:
>> Joo Hee (FL's star athlete) and Seo Joon (FL's youngest brother). They hit it off once the FL invites Joo Hee (who seem to be struggling with some family troubles) to live in their house. So far it seems Seo Joon has become aware of Joo Hee, but he doesn't yet realize that he likes her. Joo Hee also seems to be growing some feelings for Seo Joon.
>> Mi Kyung (FL's best friend) and Hyung Soo (ML's best friend). It's clear that Hyung Soo is falling hard for Mi Kyung, but she's none the wiser yet.
>> Won Jae (FL's oldest brother) and Kang Hee (ML's older sister). He starts pursuing her once he realizes she's rich. She's developed a bit of an guarded interest in him so far.
>> Won Suk (FL's older brother) and Ho Dol (FL's younger brother's tutor). They get off to a rough start with a misunderstanding, but Won Suk seems to be developing some interest for the younger and more innocent Ho Dol.

Splendid review. Currently finishing the last couple episodes of maybe my 3rd time through the series and I was…
Thank you for reading my review! I'm glad you feel the same. This series is fantastic. I even wrote an article analysing it's amazing art direction which you can read here: https://kisskh.at/article/the-visual-mastery-of-come-and-hug-me-011012996 if you're interested :).

If you're looking for something else to watch once you've finished this one, I highly recommend Hotel Del Luna. I am currently watching it right now and I feel it's on the same level of beauty to Come and Hug Me. Another great one is Black, though it gets quite dark towards the second half, it's still an amazing series.

Solid 9 for me. This was a great show from start to finish. 14th episode was the only one that felt a little slow, but other than that it kept a great pace throughout.

My pleasure, I am glad you agree. This is a beautiful drama. I also wrote an article regarding its art direction here on this site :). It's called the visual mastery of come and hug me.

Hey, Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad you agree and definitely the tone was all over the place. Its…
Yes, I could definitely tell the writers were winging it and didn't know what to focus on. I'd say this should've been a story about their friendship and kept the focus on that. The "romance" just detracted from it. Didn't help that loving/pining for Hwi seemed to be the focus of Hui Jae, while she was really an afterthought for Hwi. :/

I recommend both Nokdu Flower and The Tale of Nokdu. Both show several prominent female figures (and have strong female leads).

In regards to the former has less female characters and the female lead, while smart and active, doesn't really have much impact to the overall story. Regardless, the romance is better integrated, but it's not the focus. The focus is really on the brothers' relationship and diverging paths.

With The Tale of Nokdu the focus is more on romance and character development. As such, the female lead is quite active, impactful and smart. I'd say they managed to balance the activeness between the leads, so that both FL and ML were important and necessary to the plot. In addition, we have many badass female leads who contribute to the plot, since most of the story takes place at a widow's village. This show is more of a feel-good show, but it has beautiful moments of tragedy integrated smoothly which adds dimension to the characters. This is one of the few shows that kept the writing strong till the end. Also, if you're like me and enjoy a good role-reversal, this has it! And the ML is the one who focuses more on the FL than the other way around (a staple of period dramas).

I agree with you, especially with the romance. It was poorly done and the show would've been better without it, honestly. It's one of those things that you either do it right or shouldn't do at all.

I also felt that the tone was all over the place. Sometimes the transition from lighthearted moments to the drama was done good, but other times it was a bit jarring. Overall, it was an entretaining watch but by the end I needed to push myself to finish it.

Can't help but compare it to The Nokdu Flower, which had a better overall story and outstanding acting by Yoon Shi Yoon (who played a similar role to Woo Do Hwan). And then I also can't help but compare it with The Tale of Nokdu which had a MUCH better romance and managed to intergrate a number of badass female characters who were actually relevant to the story.

omg finally someone I can agree with, I usually always support FL but this time I think she is really selfish.…
I believe that rather than selfish, she's self-centered. The interesting thing is that empathy is used both as her strength and he flaw. Her empathy pushes her to help people selflessly, but --by that same coin-- it also pushes her to judge other people quite harshly. And although that might make her very frustrating to watch at times, I appreciate that there's consistency to her character.

I think that as long as she carries the guilt of her actions, she won't be able to truly reflect on how she's hurting those around her. Because she's so busy welling in pain and trying to keep others from experiencing that pain, that she becomes impulsive, judgemental and, like I said, very self-centered. She thinks about what she needs to do to get things done, instead of evaluating how her actions will have repercussions on those around her.

Hopefully the writers are aware of this and part of her character growth will be understanding that every action has a consequence. And that she must become more responsible if she's to keep people from getting hurt on her account.

I'm just glad Chief Ji Suk now knows everything. I hated that he was kept in the dark for so long in regards to the serial killer and the connection to his partner.

Gotta say, though, he's one of the nicest ML in K-Dramaland and I truly wish he can catch a break. Everything seems to go bad for him. It was very heartbraking when he broke down with his mom. :(

I think this show could do w/out the "romance". Hee Jae's not doing it for me. I don't think I've watched anything…
I agree. Though I think how uninteresting her character is being written is to blame. I'm at episode 10 and her contributions to the story are minimal at best, useless at worst. I'm still unsure what the point of her character is besides pinning for the ML...

In my opinion the female lead is just pointless. She brings nothing to table and her scenes lack the proper atmosphere.…
I agree. Her character isn't really impacting the story. So she feels pointless. A shame, since at the start I thought she would have some agency :/.
