First of all, congratulations on your analysis and the time you put into it! I wish there were more into depth…
Thank you very much, @RaquelD! I am glad you enjoyed the article!
I watched Pinocchio and it's one of my favorites, story wise! I agree that the strongest thing Come and Hug Me has is the visual artistry. The story was quite simple and reducing characters to concepts (good vs evil) means they have to stay simple and well within a certain "line" for the whole thing to work. That meant that a few key characters were able to display layers of complexity. If the main leads were more shades of Grey, perhaps that could've elevated the script.

Thank you very much, @purple_kimchi, glad you enjoyed it! I also enjoyed Nah Moo's and Nak Won's characters and…
Exactly! Hyeon Moo had me on pins and needles (and I don't think we were alone!) through the entire ride. That's why when Ok Hee got kidnapped I was hoping he would be the one to intervene, not so much Nah Moo. If Nah Moo intervened you know things would work out okay... but by having Hyeon Moo intervene it built on the suspense. Who would Hyeon Moo choose? And if he chose Ok Hee... would he truly be able and ready to push his father off of the pedestal he's set him up?

Hands down, that was my favorite scene! Just seeing him confront his monster was enough to have me at the edge of my seat! It helped that the actor did a tremendous job with the portrayal of his emotions --his fear was almost palpable!

Thank you, @Allyson! Exactly, happened to me as well. When I started my second viewing, I binged watched a little…
A second viewing of a show is very interesting because I'm able to pay closer attention to other things, like the camera's movement or how perhaps they added some breadcrumbs in previous scenes that foreshadow what's about to happen. A second viewing almost always feels quite different than the first one, sometimes for better and sometimes for worst. With this one, I'd say it's the former :).

I haven't read the full article, reading is not my forte so it was a bit long for me, but I can tell it's a good…
Thank you very much, @VishalIngle! Indeed, I was worried about the article's length but it was impossible to reduce it because there was just so much to go over to make the drama justice. Regardless, thank you for taking a look and sharing your thoughts! :)
Doub11etroub1e Dec 7, 2018
I agree, especially with the first two points! It kind of felt that they forgot the main concept in favor or... filler? IDK. This one felt like wasted potential to me. Especially now that I've also watched the movie and can't help but compare them.

Title Feel Good to Die Spoiler
Ok, I actually came to check the comments to see if I was the only one who thought this. I just watched yesterday…
It could also be that the official thing is one sided. With the 2ML thinking they are official in the same way Baek Jin Sang thought he was dating Roo Da. Still doesn't explain how Roo Da went from "no thank you" to "let's kiss" though.

As of right now, this is one of the series biggest flaws, so i am hoping we get clarification later on.

Title Feel Good to Die Spoiler
I guess I am starting to see the appeal of Jun Ho's character, or more like Gong Myung because he is cute lmao.…
Ok, I actually came to check the comments to see if I was the only one who thought this. I just watched yesterday the four newest episodes and I was left confused precisely because I don't recall them being "official". Plus I don't understand when Roo Da changed her mind and suddenly reciprocated. I can't help seeing the connection between that and her finding out he is actually rich...

Regardless I still hope she stays with Baek Jim Sang. I think subconsciously she is already drawn to him, which is why she was so desperate when she thought he was going to die.

Title Feel Good to Die Spoiler
Ah, so Baek Jin Sang will probably say good things about his company in reference to the HR manager's promise…
Yea, that's what I imagine as well. Because by doing that he also can't get punished. Otherwise there would be another scandal like last time with the pervy client.

After reading your article...I am quite interested in watching it.... I really appreciate your efforts. Thanks…
Thank you for your comment, @Dark Anm! This is a good story, not without it's flaws, but which is entertaining despite them. I would recommend watching just for the pure chemistry between the leads! If you do give it a go, let me know what you think! :)

Excellent writeup. I love visual analyses such as this. I remember reading about that of Ghost Detective's, and…
Thank you very much for your comment, @Shahrizat Jailan! Indeed, Ghost Detective has neat visual symbolisms as well. I watched Chicago Typewriter and loved it! I don't recall noticing any of the visuals, however. The story was excellent and the duality of the plot (weaving two stories) was very interesting to watch.

Although I didn't LOVE this drama, this article has definitely shown me how someone could view it differently.…
I'm of the belief that there's always something useful to gain from listening to someone who has a different viewpoint/opinion. So thank you very much for reading my article, @Renna :).

And don't get me started, I tend to color-code everything lol. It just helps me get things organized. So I used the color coding here to emphasize some of my points. I'm glad you enjoyed it haha!

For me it was pretty dark and a depressive romance. Had to drop it after ep 4... Then turned back to YouTube to…
Like with everything, each drama targets a certain audience and it's always interesting how vastly people can feel after watching something. I tend to gravitate towards dark dramas, especially if there's a mystery to them. But I tend to get bored out of my mind if the drama has more fluff than story (like in the case of What's Wrong with Secretary Kim).

I binged this, and couldn’t agree more about how it can affect you, emotionally. I finished it in two days,…
Thank you, @Allyson! Exactly, happened to me as well. When I started my second viewing, I binged watched a little more than half the drama and it took a toll. Of course, it didn't help that I kept pausing to take notes, take screenshot or record parts of the series, lol. But it certainly did required me to watch something lighter in between episodes as I continued.

Though I also agree that the drama is still marvelous!

Thank you very much, @PrettyCarEye! For sure you're going to have a treat with this drama. I had to leave out a lot in order to keep the article manageable, opting to focus on the uniqueness this drama offered in the forms of visual metaphors. But there's a lot of care that went into this drama, from the acting to the writing and everything in between. The music is also top-notch!

Also like a response I gave below, I'd tagged this show more "hopeful" than depressing. It deals a lot more with the healing part than the hurting. But, of course, it's a process and one that's built quite slowly for some people. If you're going to watch this after a pretty long day, then perhaps pacing yourself will help. :)

As to the use of "art direction" I decided to go with it because it encompassed everything, rather than talking about the photography director, the set director, the film director and so on. I have a master in art director but for advertising. So since in advertising the art director oversees everything that has to do with the visual message, I used that here as well :).
