i always thought that the dickyCheng and stephenChow (film) were imitations of how tonyLeungCW played the role --which he played brilliantly. all three have great comic timing, but of course tonyLCW is a very talented actor with broad range.

this lead looks badly older than the actor's actual age.
practically every other version, xiaoBao would feigns being thick hiding shrewdness, this one he is literally freaking thick.
opposite from haungXiaoMing "too handsome," this goes for the "too ugly" --didn't they learned that lesson from the most recent Smiling Wanderer?

xuKai playing a bully in the "acadamy..." drama is exactly what i'm tired of --pseudo strong women that essentially wants to be manhandle by a man-child is not only repetitively tiresome, but also a toxic message.

bottom line is... is the pairing up of "strong" female characters sadly undermines their strength or in this case, the female is some "girl Friday" sort --a trope from the 1940s-- that essentially a damsel in distress

BaiLu, a very pretty actor, seems to have a trajectory of moronic roles. it is obvious that china dramas are male dominated, with few exceptions. sadly, all of baiLu "strong woman" roles, so far, has been dumber than plastic bags.
this role is the worse.... hope this is rock bottom.
the combo of limited acting range, and direction, kills this drama. her comedic timing is awful --a better actor might can pull it off.... obviously not her.

i admit i will skip dramas with ugly leads, but beautiful leads can't save their crappy roles when they don't have enough talent to save.
possibly the character "longAoY" is complete rot and no talent can redeem the role.... we'll never know.

not having any martial arts is an understatement. she hides and ducks, or faints. underworld leader and damsel in distress are synonym.... i cannot wrap my head around that.
ML is dull, but FL is plain unlikable... cause she has nothing to back up her bravado/arrogance..

coming up with plans is the only contribution that the character brings into the drama. everything else is a skipper.

first female lead is far from cute --high on the goofy scale that one expect for a sidekick, or rather a sideline.

the second female lead is rather stupid, especially for an intelligence head. her "kindness" is hilarious --coerced capture by threatening random kids.
her first appearance in the drama sums it up. she is either "thinking really hard" or "hardly thinking" --i bet on the latter, with a dash of constipation.

his upper lip doesn't move. it is like watching a ventriloquist dummy.

the "bromance" scenes are so dry, and the emo soundtrack just isn't enough lubrication -- i can't move beyond xi fan is a boring douche. the emo soundtrack only highlights the cringing scenes.
