I loved this series but I wish they would have hugged in the final scene, I cannot believe that all 3 of them…
It was for the cinematic and impactful ending, but a special episode where all of our wishes would be amazing (though that's nowhere to happen xD). Maybe a second rewatch of the ending might give some new perspective. :)
It's really good from the chemistry of the leads, the lessons but the time travel aspect has some parts that could be improved. But still, it has one of the best romances, so if you want that, then jump in!
Because of this final episode I only had 2 and a half hour of sleep 🤣 My head is aching at work. But it's okay, it is for The Atypical Family. So now that every characters is able to overcome something and in state of happiness — the ball is now on me and you! Let this be our new beginning.
Aww thank you! Really wanted not to spoil myself with the final episode so I've watched it at 1am in the morning. So far, I think I need another watch of the final episode to fully appreciate it but this is what I'm getting the most from the ending.
I think most of the bad reception came from atleast one of the ff factors:1. Slow mature drama but wrong viewers.…
I haven't watch it yet, but I think you should give it a try! I've also read some good reviews that says might not be the bestest drama ever, but could be a good show :)
The moment that saved all of them — the day Ina was born
Throughout the episodes of The Atypical Family, we've seen how Ina's birthdate was shown to be cursed or at least believed to be cursed by I-na. We saw her battle this out internally, and finally be freed of it in her first conversation with her father, Gwi-ju in episode 9, and how once again this date became a dreaded moment in the past. But this date, the most precious moment to Gwi-ju, is the one that saved them all.
In Gwi-ju's last moments in the present, he was transported back to this most precious memory escaping death. This chance allowed him to save Da-hae who would turn their failing superhero lives upside down for good and help save the two families together, 13 years later.
Everything started with I-na being born, it wasn't the end but the beginning as Gwi-ju said.
The ending of this drama, for me, is very The Atypical Family style. It is not a lot, but it is not empty. I think the more you ponder on it and understand what happened, you appreciate it more. Also, I understood that it's like a superhero family type of ending with a cool ending twist, but way more. Gwi-ju and Da-hae's son really put the story in its full circle. It is a really good show.
And to be honest, that final episode, damn I was repeatedly looking on the time left, I was so nervous. I wished there was more, and I would also agree it was too quick, but after pondering it -- it's just The Atypical Family style kind of episode.
For everyone who is more into healing aspects of this drama, they've gifted us that wonderful and brilliant episode 11, but the show's plot came full circle in the final episode. Brilliant show.
for those who were confused by the ending (aka me) it's actually quite interesting, there's a tweet thread explaining…
Yay!!! Thank you such a good explanation! I kinda get the ending, but it's pretty quick and I'm not quite sure how their son got him, but I guess that was just lost in translation!
Is there anything non-consentual or something else along those lines that's part of the bad ratings? He's obv…
I think most of the bad reception came from atleast one of the ff factors: 1. Slow mature drama but wrong viewers. (Some watchers probably thought it would be upbeat or typical romcom) 2. They dislike the FL actress (I've noticed that she has really people who hate her and her drama choices). 3. Age gap. Again, probably bec of wrong audiences.
