going into the drama after reading the comments I thought I was going to watch a disaster...LOL...the episode…
The main issue with gun besides his lack of control in his face and other stuff is the person he’s paired with I think. I was surprised that boat is a good actor (ive nver heard/seen him and a lot of acting in these dramas is bad and that’s...mostly fine sometimes not rly but we can still have fun and appreciate) and embodied his character but then it’s like the other side is a wall. Personally it distracts me. The dude who plays Pitch is less natural than bank but he’s funny and has good timing and knows how to use his body for comedy (even tho he can be so stiff) but the both of them are matched in their skill essentially not making one side as unbalanced.
I will say that i think a lot of us also probably just hate looking at the face he makes like you know how some voices drive you nuts? The way he acts drives me up a fucking wall (other dramas have hd this like kdramas, american ones for me) so it may br one of those sensory things too. Cos sometimes when i look at him emote and these too long shots on his face i feel sorta like nails on a chalkboard so personal preference is a big one but this is why u have to gain control of body movements and directors have to tell them and work with them and get ACTING COACHES in acting os it can be extremely distracting for losers like me
i've been thinking of this but i guess i'm on the other side. maybe it's because i am also like (gasp) it's not…
I am indeed or wanna be but yes i have a degree and have done some stuff and jobs yadayadayada bla bla i promise it is boring hahaha.
I love editing a lot and it is integral to me as a director/writer/artist so I agree with you there too. Bear with me here...
Honestly, I have been on one set that is very memorable for me in terms of atrocious production, direction, everything went wrong. It was during grad school and I ended up being an editor for that project and it was hell on earth; i was furious and shots. Were. Missing. CRUCIAL ones and the acting was SO BAD i just couldnt believe it. And i had a tough time dealing with it and i was part of the problem too. I ended up saving the work as much as i could but i really dont want that filmt o see the loght of day and i personally messed up by, at that point, refusing to collaborate with him even tho it was a decision i felt i to make. I dont think it was the right one. I wasnt being a great team player and i want to acknowledge that bc all of our behaviors just degraded the experience and film and i do blame the director but it was just too luch. In the first place it shouldnt have been made with how horrible thr script was. But it was you know? And i fucked up too, we all did and i dont blame him exclusively anymore, i cant. Sometimes shit is just not ideal.) and we picked that actor bc he had like one line in batman the dark knight rises. Can yoi believe that? And he was so unbelievably bad. Like i cant make this up we were using a film camera and this dude WHILE THE CAMERA WAS RUNNING AND WE HAVE LIMITED STOCK OK pretended to pick up a piece of paper bc we asked him to pick it up quietly so the boom wouldnt pick up as much rustling and he fucking mimed it. I was honestly like...it was silent in the studio. The camera was running. I will never forget this oh my god.)
We would stop and start and tyhe direcyor was incompetent and the story sooooo bad. It was just a mishmash of things. I guess cos we can enjoy other parts of this show instead of ALL of it being an unbearable shit show, i put that particular onus on the actor but he also doesnt have much to work with.
I would stop and say please put your lip down or “you’re coming off this way on camera” and to be honest...well idk if they did but im gonna go out on a limb and said they did and some actors just...are bad and can't help it.
HOWWWWEVER ur right so esp about covering production mistakes. It’s a gorgeous atmosphere and they have some pretty nice visual scenes (when bank dropped of pitch it was really a nice scene (as opposed to the literal firsy show of the show being fucking overexposed and i turned it off immediately cos i was so mad and that it was 720p)
I will say that many times some things arent just gonna work out and the odds are stacked against them here bc they casted him and clearly literally everyone else is more competent. I dont know how id proceed and on top of that filming in general is hard right now, you know? Like really hard.
Long story short...yes youre mostly (imo!!!) correct but it’s a bit more difficult than that and directors end up being blamed sometimes for things they may not necessarily be able to control. They may have cast him bc hes a noticeable face and model and their backers would support a well known one you know?
Anyway i wont say it’s all gun’s fault bc it isnt bc of the colloboration. No one person can ruin a whole production and he is the star so. and it is enjoyable except when you see him but that’s indicative of a problem. Plus some ppl can handle it i guess.
They rly should have had an acting coach if they didnt and should have been aware that thays the face he makes lmao like did he not audition?soooooo plus hes only 23 i doubt hell get better but. There’s just something off about it, you know? We’ve all seen some real bad acting but still enjoyed shows; i can think of so many BLs where i was like holyyyyy shit ur terrible but this is cute but god for this one it’s just a plethora of issues. I also dont wanan be mean to him totally bc thats also the way his face seems to move you know and the director should have really worked on that harder even if it hurts his feelings.
sry this is so long im just think out loud lmao i heard another person talk about a director being at fault and she explained why and ive been reevaluating my thoughts as an artist bc i really do agree to an extent but when projects fail the onus lands on the shoulders of the editor most times and if we are lucky the director but filmmaking is more than one person, this script in itself man... and also theres a huge diff between tv and films but also big budgets. I would blame someone like idk spielberg totally for a terrible production but theres way more reigns on ppl working in the mainstream and not as independent artists.
But the production designers i think have really done a good job they found some absolutely beautiful locations and it’s very nicely filmed when they light it correctly and give us 1080p option. Also boat and bank. Some good stand out things that shows other competency. This was a major major miscast.
Again sry soloo long it is just more complicated and being in all sorts of scenarios and directing my own stuff makes me #Think
well, mydramalist is kinda made for it so someone did kinda ask. by default. with the creation of this website.…
Theres no hate and war. I sincerely hope many of you grow up and stop taking it so personally. And if you want to express your distaste then fine but we are allowed to say something. It’s ridiculous to put your feelings on another person; no one is saying anything hateful or egregious—if so they should get called out, people should say something if they say TRULY hatwful things not that someone is bad at their kjob or whatever we mean ACTUAL harm and bullying it is nnot the same as comment sections having diff opinions or ppl having diff ways to express it but this is not that. People on the internet fail to differentiate sarcastic perhaps biting comments and their feelings. And not all critique and discussion has to be fruitful or not full of what YOU want. It can be mean or snarky but no one is wishing someone ill-will or other users by saying certain things. It’s a lie that It creates hate or war it’s the way people react to any form of dissent. If you dont agree you dont agree it just makes people more irritated and then creates this false echo chamber of perfection in the comments.
We do not all think the same. Also your logic is confusing; either the long comments are good because, according to yoou, they should evaluate it ergo la long comment. But then you said; no one asked for it hhowever you called it a review and said they need to give reasons etc (which no they dont but you pointed out long comments.) those not casual comments that arent glowing or bad arent harmful. This website is fo lr ppl to comment point blank period and people follow normal codes but we are ALL different and express things differently.
Make up your mind or admit that for some ,when you see something that may clash with your thoughts on what you like or you let it hamper your enjoyment that’s on you. And we can say that we don’t like what others have said, it makes you bristle, feel some type of way. We can even be petyy bc we dont agree with others assessments. It happens to everyone, we’re human and that’s fine but thats on us.
his face says 16 but his body is 23 and it is so confusing to me. most times im like my son then other times i'm…
pjishouagi yea like...i went to go check after he took off his shirt in whatever ep he took his shirt off in first cos i was like "UMMMMM IM REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE? WHY IS HE SO BUFF? IS HE NOT 5?" and because i'm a crypt keeper (29) i must stay away but it was a nice. surprise. :)
While I agree with the MANY comments that the acting is not as strong as in other series, I'm gonna point the…
i've been thinking of this but i guess i'm on the other side. maybe it's because i am also like (gasp) it's not a director's fault (projectionnnn) but i've been thinking over this premise. on one hand, yes, but on the other it's a colloborative effort. this could work if his acting was simply just bad but there's been so many things we've seen where there's bad acting but ways to enjoy it. so many people are atrocious actors and sometimes that is genuinely unbearable but we've all seen some shit we've been able to stick out. the only conclusion i can come to besides the obviously flimsiness on the page (with regards to script) is that sometimes......the actors just truly aren't good or pulling their weight. not saying that this means the director and parts of the crew aren't incompetent or failing in some way because i'm guessing they didn't have an acting coach but knowing the pressures of production yada yada i can only imagine them just going "aw fuck it man" because this kid REALLY needs to work on his facial movements. if he's serious about acting holy shit he really really does (unless, as i stated in other comments, it's a tic he has which is possible but i think this is just the way he thinks he should act and/or draws from his reactions IRL but cannot. handle. face. acting) like i barely remember him in LBC but he had no emotional weight he had to pull in that from what i saw and i never saw him making these stupid fuckign faces but he didn't have like...actual meaningful scenes he had to do. like there's bad and then there's "oh this was severely miscast" you know? the common denominator here for me is him >< production is so much time energy and money and i've been on sets with such awful actors (but also incompetent directors so...the cycle of life...)
all that BS being sad there's things they can do with editing nad pacing and story (and oh the script could also be better) but. tl;dr true but his acting is so god awful and i think he should...quit. or go to school. for acting.
Why do people come on here to be negative like it’s their damn job? Omg.
it's a forum for discussion on a massive industry part of the world. it isn't just for praise and no debate. comments sections are supposed to have a multitude of replies, not just ones that are convenient and okay for you.
Ugh. That episode started out so well, with not one, but two unexpected relationship developments, then devolved…
his face says 16 but his body is 23 and it is so confusing to me. most times im like my son then other times i'm like "oh, d........." anywayssssssss. i see potential in him tho fr fr i rarely say that but hes got sth
it's a damn damn damn damn damn shame this kid cannot act especially because boat is clearly lightyards ahead. i sincerely hope he gets more training (if that's something he cares to do) or maybe like...he's just destined to be a bad actor. he has to work on his lip movement control (if it isn't like a facial issue he is btw like i'm not tryin got be insensitive but it seems like raising his lips is a habit he has to unlearn for acting as it isn't a tic) like it's almost. unbearable. to watch this person act.
dude who plays pitch isnt even stellar and needs some help with stiffness, but i'm most impressed with dude who plays bank. not cos hes ligthyears ahead obviously the best actor on the show is boat lol but he has potential and i like that he's not shy (this is a good sign for actors imo for them to be able to let go and be vulnerable so if he wants to keep acting i'd keep a look out maybe hes adorableee)
anyway pitch/bank are a good draw even if for so little. there is appeal to the main couple but it is so extremely difficult watching gun like it's actually a damn shame. there's just not enough charm around him as a character or his acting style and within the show that make me want to linger on the scenes without cringing (like it's clear these are supposed to be serious moments instead of the overly dramatic campy serious moments. there is a difference.) i'm trying to think more broadly lately in terms of acting critiques but since everyone else can more or less get the point across i have to be honest and say gun is the biggest downfall because his poor acting highlight the major flaws that otherwise would be absolutely acceptable to handle because there's glimpses of some nice stuff here and there (like the scene on the raft was visually beautiful, i love the house they got for the production, there's some decent lighting and camerawork sometimes like in ep 6 with pitch/bank in the street like that was really pretty and cute! and the flaws within the show and/or surrounding that scene can be ignored becuase you're enjoying it. i can't fly to another dimension with a sun/sky push and pull so i just FF and that's....quite a lot to do.
the show isnt bad at all but it took me 4 starts because of him and i've seen some shit. it's so rare. but part of the issue is having this person as your lead with an overdramatic storyline, sure, but there's like this massive disconnect and the partner he has is overpowering by default along with the tough source matrial of the partner being more stoic (but a capable...actor...) jesus man idek lmao im having fun in the way that i am rewatching pitch/bank and like watching them and like you know this feeling of reciprocity and feeding off of each other's energy.
also please the stylist on this show is offneding me. bootcut jeans...
honestly i didnt lie s1+2 and didnt bother with 3 due to confusion over 2. didnt like the main dudes, the plots, etc so i am wondering, for people who do or dont like this season, if it is so different from the rest and....if so well maybe that's a good thing. i wanna give it a try? and i like kyu hyung a ton lol
i didn't watch episode 11 yet but the comments are making me want to drop it
if u havent been feeling frustrated then it shouldnt lol i think people get diff things from this series but it's honestly just...a show. a breeze? it wasnt that bad and it's over this week so if it's something you watch and it's been lowstress ep 11 shouldnt make u mad
honestly this doesn't sound like something i would love, not a huge fan of krystal in gen but this also seems...really fun? and in those photos they have such an interesting look together. not beautiful but interesting. if they had good chemistry this could work and i really like KJW. age gap that definitely...doesnt work perfectly but is ok here. hm idk lol could be cool
I will say that i think a lot of us also probably just hate looking at the face he makes like you know how some voices drive you nuts?
