The Drama was really good at the beginning and deserved all the praise it deserved at first. But after the first few episodes, The writer and the director just got lazy, the production quality dropped and turned out to be an average Romance drama with a Ridiculous plot twist.
The Performance of Seo Ye Ji and Oh Jung Se was really good an was perfect for their characters, but Kim Soo Hyun's performance was just average and nothing more than that. Although all the other side characters did a pretty good.
The typical push and pull which started from the 7th episode itself even before properly developing the Romance and continuing it upto the episode 14 is also one of the most cliche' things, from wherein the drama started to Disappoint.
Don't even get me started with the plot twist, it was so ridiculous that it completely ruined some characters, Made them inconsistent and also even made the initial interaction of leads into a ridiculous one. What I hated the most about the writing was that not only did they ruin the Second half of the drama, but also the good parts of the drama after the plot twist and saying that it was all her doing. I just can't seem to understand why people are just overlooking over the ridiculous plot twist and inconsistent characters by saying that no drama is perfect. For God sake, the Defining plot twist of the drama is what they ruined and people are just ready to overlook that fact. (Typical Fanbase)
The Second half of the drama is full of Cliche' Romance and typical fan service which could've been nice to watch if the drama was consistent in its tone and Characters. And the Ending, Mental illness is such an easy thing to cure if it's not for our Main Characters. Many of the patients in the hospital were cured (that too offscreen), because why not, nobody cares about the Side characters. Can't believe it is the same drama wherein they used a good amount of screen time in some episodes for us to empathise with side characters.
This is exactly the type of Article that I've been looking for, especially after being disappointed in "It's Okay to Not be Okay" after all those hype.
The two last eps are fillers and the drama has lost its special touch. Not only the writer doesn't seem to know…
Making the nurse who is a normal person, (the way she talks, interacts with patients, other nurses, doctor etc...), into a Sociopath/Psychopath suddenly makes her character inconsistent in my opinion. And how they ruined the first interaction between MY and KT actually irks me to the point I dropped the drama right there itself. And I don't actually think that they'll go back to the roots of the drama and make it a psychological one about mental health and stuff, then again, if they did, I'll be more than happy.

Actually that's my only hope for this drama, after the first eight episodes, the drama kind of became bland, still I had hopes till the 13th episode that it'll pick up it's pace towards the end. Never thought that it'll be this disappointing to be honest.
The two last eps are fillers and the drama has lost its special touch. Not only the writer doesn't seem to know…
Yeah their Romance became cliché and boring. Now it looks like there's no chemistry between the leads. I think that the writer tends to forget that this is a psychological drama and not a Makjang. And the characters became so inconsistent that it looks like the writer is completely changed. The only way they can save this drama at this point is to make all this a stage play done by the Director and the Head nurse to make Moon Young and Sang Tae confront their fear and Trauma.
The drama was really good and Different for the first 6-8 episodes, after that it became the old Romance drama with all the same clichés. They just kept dragging without having much of a plot and the chemistry was also not as good as expected. It feels like the Writing and the Direction dropped in quality and the director just became lazy.
what is her name the girl in thumbnail please she so damn beautiful xdd
Park Joo Hyun. She played the role of Ji Soo in A Piece of Your mind (Jung Hae In's First love and Childhood friend). She's also the Female lead in Extracurricular. And She slays both the roles. She's an Upcoming talent for sure.
Something in the rain used to have such a high rating on MDL, what happened that made it drop to a 8.0?
People hate what they don't understand. It's such a Good show, th first few episodes blew everyone's mind too. The second half of the drama became very much realistic and the story and decisions stayed true to the characters. That didn't please the general audience and that isthe reason for the Rating drop. To be honest, Something in the Rain could be said as not a Kdrama what we have seen. It's something much different. The Realistic portrayal of the relationships and the problems made people sad I guess. In a way most of the people watch kdrama in order to escape from reality.
if you rewatch the episode you will realize that he made an agreement with her brother for sake of their interests…
Yeah that is all true, still they tried to pull off an unnecessary love triangle over there. It wasn't just for the sake of the agreement. He was actually trying to win her over.
Why is everyone ganging up against jae young we all regret decisions we made in the present and the past leave…
Because he doesn't respect her personal space and is shoving up his love to her. No matter how desperate you are, you should actually respect other's personal space. Be it your friend, girls friend, crush or even your wife. Also hia character is badly written for infusing jokes and a typical second lead. We are all sick of it already.
The only thing that I didn't like in this drama is when they try to forcibly put in a love triangle by making Go Seung Jun propose to Se Ri. It felt like sudden and unnecessary. Other than that I loved everything about this drama. Also those squad were super cute.
First of All, Thank you for Writing this article. ^_^ All the Tropes that you mentioned are the same ones I had in Mind As a Person Who Hates Love Triangles, I couldn't agree more. . If I may Add, The Trope of Injecting Romance into Non Romance centric dramas (Especially female Centric Dramas), is also the trope I hate the most. The Drama maybe really good, but when they inject romance into it, It really takes me off the drama and mostly I drop it. (Eg. being Search WWW, Good Casting). Also, hate it when they force the Kiss Scenes in dramas. They are like, it's the Eighth episode, We should Kiss. They might not have even developed a proper understanding of each other. Hate it when they do it.
I was so happy to see A Piece Of Your Mind in your list. I found it exceptional the way that the theme of loss…
Yup, A Piece of Your Mind has a special place in my heart too. It was the only drama among my list for which I took almost double the time to complete an episode, even though it's slow paced. I keep rewinding those scenes, just to get more of those leads. Glad to see another person who appreciates this Gem.
