I respect the plot and understand the characters and the decisions they make EXCEPT Xinyu's mother. All those years, she did not know what she did wrong, and blamed it on a business partner because she was new to the business then. At least, Uncle Tang was aware why he was what he was.
And though it ended well, pacing was too slow. I understand why some watchers dropped this too soon. Took 8 episodes to introduce us to the back story. Also, revenge after revenge after revenge after revenge became repetitive and somehow predictable.
Anyway, this is Zhao Yiting's story, and character is well-written. Marcus's acting was well done, until they forced him to cry in one scene - it was out of character, acting was awkward, he could have expressed it in another way.
Eugenie was perfect as the rich girl BUT probably got confused about the naive and sheltered character. Naive did not mean she had to act like a 5-year old. *cringe*
Among the supporting actors, I feel that Xiao Yue and Yiting's mom were the best in the group.
It is entertaining. It is a web drama, do not take it too seriously.
Basically, it is a creative (if not satirical) compilation of clichès that we see in the Kdrama land. Themes like boss/employee, youth crush, teacher/student, suspense, etc are covered. ???? Scenes that we've seen before - running under the rain sharing a coat, strong woman, damsel in distress - they are all here. ???? The casting of the male leads added to its entertainment value.
And since it's a duty free ad to begin with, I feel that the Mandarin scene is deliberately targeted towards the tourist market. That was creative.
I expected this to be a light romcom - the poster looked fun and bright. But this really went beyond my expectations…
Ro woon's older sister committed suicide. This was the premise.
Hwan ki was initially pinned responsible. Later, it was believed to be his best friend's fault for having a third-party relationship with her. As the story progressed, we learned that it was his sister who also attempted to commit suicide herself because of jealousy. She then blames her father for her anxiety issues.
Mystery solved? Not yet. Neighbor tells Hwan ki that he was the reason why she committed suicide.
How was it resolved? Victim committed suicide because she was unable to confess her feelings to the man she liked. So she had herself to blame for her own suicide.

Woo Jin was awesome to begin with.
Episodes 1-6 was terrible. The female lead who angered me plus the low-key lighting that gave a dark mystery vibe.
It generally got better by episode 7, I became curious. I even had fun.
Then episodes 12-15 happened. It became melodramatic with mystery, psycho, romance, family, friendship, political, business elements. I felt that the writer wanted to try a unique story, that I respect. Pacing could have been better. Plus, tge resolution was pointless (will write another post). I was losing interest with the lead couple at this point.
Finale was light and fluffy and I am fine with that after going through all the love and hate from the previous episodes.
I liked it a lot but at some point plot became super cringy, I bearly finished it. Stories about lost mother and…
Personally, I respect the writer's decision about the lost paintings (that symbolizes the mother) because the search was one of the things that got the relationship stronger. That being said, I felt that the drama was mostly Ryan's story (the fangirling became less intense as the drama progressed) so they had to connect their past lives to add depth to Deuk Mi's story. And hey, this is krama, they need to know each other from the past to prove that they are fated.
It was a light romcom, i had fun watching. I just wish that the pacing here was done better. I feel that the plot was very close to Suspicious Partner, but I find that the latter was better paced. There were side plots here and there, which were sweet and funny too.
I liked the characters. Yoom Seo was clumsy in the first episode but she was more to that. Jung Rok's character was very typical in Kdrama though.
Acting-wise, Yoo In Na and the CEO cousins (or brothers?) were great.

I just did not like how mothers were portrayed here. One "bad mother" was enough, but no, all mothers in this drama had to do what they did! Too much.
