this is why ga on has so many scenes in yohan's house and it also changes yohan's character. he was not meant…
From the original writer intent, Yohan really IS the devil lol He wanted to show people only if you look at your own action and question yourself if what you are doing is truly right and justice, then you won't become like Yohan/prof/foundation/public. Gaon is truly the "light" because writer wants all viewers to be like him, always questioning, doubting, making mistakes, angry, but never lose compassion and good faith lol

I wish there's an English version of the script book LOL
On Kingdom: Ashin of the North Aug 11, 2021
I understand people who watched Kingdom wanted a thrilling story but this simply isn’t. Don’t expect a fast paced story and you will really enjoy this. It’s a very dark story but a very well written one. I feel every emotion of Ashin. If you treat this as a “drama” genre movie, it’s a really good one. I am IN LOVE with this.

And honestly, the child actress of Ashin was so phenomenal there was a part of me didn’t want her to grow up. I could watch her all 1.5 hours.

you feel sorry for a power-hungry, greedy, crazy, obsessed murderer? 😲🤔
She didn't really born this way too. Of coz, she doesn't have to become like this, but her and yohan are technically very similar people, but yohan had isaac and elijah. Even the maid, and at the very least he's in a wealthy family despite how hard it is for him and he's being locked down. Finding $ to survive wasn't needed, unlike Sun Ah. As a woman she also faced sexual harassments. And literally no one treated her well. If she has a Issac person growing up, maybe she will be different too.

Human are complex. She has always been on the victims’ side and from ep1-10 she has always been angry with the evils and speak up against it on and off court. Her wanting power and liking materials doesn’t make her an evil person that want to harm the public. Wanting to advance in career aren’t even a bad thing, if she’s doing it in the right way. She’s just slowly losing herself. The original thought to gain power and do the right thing might turn into greed later on. But why she is no longer that huge fan of yohan makes complete sense

The Game: Towards Zero had a similar problem - kick ass female character who's a detective is constantly protected…
LOL omg that would have been sooooo frustrating hahahaha it’s just lazy writing at that point. Stranger might have been the best show in writing a female detective that can stand alone on herself lol

Same here! I ADORE Yohan and Gaon, but Kdramas always fall into the ignoring females stereotype and it's frustrating…
I actually think Jinjoo has a better story written for her compared to soohyun. At least I understand why she is slowly parting ways with Yohan and why she wants to step up. I know her personality and even her family background, her work styles, she is useful on trials.

But honestly I don’t think the writer is discriminating against female characters lol it’s just because there are only two main male characters in the story and they were meant t be the two leads so by default with the story they both have a lot of screen time lol Some of these things happen on Gaon’s role too (like intentionally weakening him). We learned what happened to gaon’s family but we don’t even see him with his parents once in the memories. All it takes was 30 sec screen time LOL

Cha + Seonah are being written with some good details given their screen time.

I just think writer aren’t the strongest in giving details to characters in the plot (he has really good intentions to the roles but couldn’t show it)

My jaw dropped when SH received a kick and that was it for her. I'm just going to pretend the actual fight scene…
Hahahahahaha exactly I rolled my eyes so hard it’s blocking me from enjoying yohan’s cool cos it just didn’t make sense LMAO

It's not hate it's more like annoyance. In the beginning she was this badass police officer but recent episodes…
Totally and I tried to explain that on Twitter as well but got blocked hahahaha she had a lot of potential to be at least half interesting as gaon lol but no it didn’t happen lol

I am so frustrated with the Soohyun hate lol If the writer could have written her character actually based on her setting and description people won't hate her. She actually is an ace detective, she actually cares for Elijah, she is supposed to be smart, warmth, treat everyone equally, strong and caring. If they could have just given her one more minute to showcase she took care of Elijah and called for back up, locked the car, but something still happens and she even saved Elijah, and Yohan arrived - he can still be mad at the gangs and still bring him to court. Without the whole Soohyun being reckless tropes the plot will still move normally. Soohyun became a comparison to highlight how Yohan's character is perfect yet we sacrificed everyone else (in terms of character's charming points)

My only complain to this drama is the writer and director tried to highlight yohan's charm and perfect and strong way too much in places that could have let the other characters shine. A drama isn't good when only the main lead shines. WHY THEY NEED TO MAKE YOHAN THE ONLY ONE SAVING EVERYONE'S ASS EVERY SINGLE TIME WHEN IT WASN'T NECESSARY based on the characters backgrounds lol. I had so much issue with Taxi Driver also because of this lol.

Gaon got a lot of hate too before they showed a little bit of his past and people still think he's dumb til now when he is not. He's just not a spy? lol When he does legal investigation he's very very good at it too, and as a judge he can analyze materials so well. In his character he even supposed to be good at fighting. Why does Yohan needs to come and beat 95% of the gang when they could have at least show Soohyun and Gaon were able to handle the gang, but the guy tried to escape, Yohan came to fight TOGETHER with Gaon while Soohyun go to catch that guy, and Yohan maybe beating 65% while Gaon beats the rest? LOL The show would have been so much cooler than just Yohan being the only savior.

I am so sad, like why are the writers doing this to HER!! She is freaking cop and her character description is…
Which is why its the writer's fault. Her character supposed to ACTUALLY cares for Elijah. But the writer failed to execute that into her actual actions.

I love seeing Gaon eager to do something but in the end Yohan still the one who actually do it 🥰🥰
Actually I hate it so much lol It's almost the only complain I have for this show. It didn't need to be. The director and writer didn't need to ALWAYS use Gaon as a comparison to highlight how good Yohan is LOL They intentionally weakened Gaon and Soohyun's roles for no good reason when in the character descriptions they supposed to be strong enough to handle some of these situations themselves without Yohan lol

Like explain to me how is Soohyun and Gaon won't be able to handle those gangs when both of their characters are said to be good fighters to begin with lol

It's so funny how Ga on can never do a single thing but put lot of efforts! At the end of the day Yohan is the…
Gaon actually did a lot tho lol When it's about things that he is actually trained for? He's just not a spy nor good at playing the dirty game at first but he learns fast didn't he? Otherwise, he can investigate (legally) and analyze things really well and fast. He sees through Yohan's actions and emotions. After reading Yohan's cases he immediately captured the essence of Yohan's plan was from anger and years of planning just not knowing what actually happened. At the trial framing the guy as a nerd was all his own doing without Yohan as well? lol

It's not hate it's more like annoyance. In the beginning she was this badass police officer but recent episodes…
It's a bit different to me. Because Soohyun's character itself shouldn't have been like this. She is supposed to be the ace detective and she was kicking ass. Like for god's sake she and gaon totally could have been able to beat those gangs out themselves given how the characters were supposed to be (I mean if Yohan can beat all those people himself Soohyun at her worst could have been able to beat at least half lol) And how is the ace detective not calling for back up and at least lock the car before she runs to the gangs LOL??? If her character has been written based on the setting people won't hate her. = hating how the writer executes her role.

Hating her character: the writer executes everything right and all the details and actions are based on how the character supposed to be. So it was just the setting of the character originally sucks lol

Of course she is disappointed. She herself is a very righteous person too. She wants the process to be legal and results to be good. She once thought Yohan is someone who can do the right thing to achieve the right result. Turns out he isn't. He puts on shows for political reasons and he bribes. As a judge herself she of course cannot agree to that. Laws is what they studied and practiced their whole career and even judge other people on and determine another person's life, judge must be non-biased and neutral at all time. (You can't be a criminal yourself to judge and sentence other criminals right?)

No one ever shared with her that Seonah is a bad person. Seonah tricked and manipulated her into thinking she is good and will make a chance in the foundation. Seonah knows what makes her click and honestly Yohan could have just shared with Jinjoo that Seonah isn't a good person but he didn't. You can't blame Jinjoo for wanting to be going up (why shouldn't she? Because she's a woman she deserved to be just a right hand person and never the top?) especially when she thinks Yohan doesn't deserve it and she is the one who truly cares for the victims and using the right legal process.

I don't get ppl who think that the crying scene was too dramatic, The fact that the person who killed his parents…
???? there are people who think that way?? lol what are they on?? Gaon was ready to kill the guy and then kill himself, he hid his anger all these years because of the love Soohyun and professor gave him and the fact that he believes (just as all the other victims) the system has already given them the justice they deserved. And once he realized that justice was never there, his entire world and value was shattered. The 13 years of his anger and sadness call cramped into this single moment. He is angry, he feels ridiculous, he is sad, and he is more angry. The moment requires this much emotion and how is that crying scene was too dramatic lol

It hasn't been explained actually. We were told (by writer) that his professor puts him in the Judas position…
Oh I know for sure, I was even explaining to others why Yohan needs to be checked and why Gaon SHOULD investigate Yohan. But I meant we haven't understood Gaon's personal background for him to be this invested. I know why he is so suspicious of Yohan and I agree with it 100%, but there's still no backstory on why he is so righteous and willing to go this far into investigating.

I feel like Ga on's character will have a development arc....he was planted into the court without prior experience…
But the point here is, Gaon and prof do not know if he's doing it for greed or not, hence they needed to dig deeper to find what Yohan's plans are. Also, even if Yohan isn't doing it for greed, but emotional/justifiable reasons, what he's doing is still wrong. Making up evidences, using courtroom as a tool and manipulating public, not only Yohan, but whoever is using the court as a political tool is wrong. As judge, it should always be neutral and unbiased. I feel for Yohan, but I also understand Gaon's value too much. (Similar to the values Law School presented).

The writer is trying to convey a lot - he said the show is almost like a social experiment. Which I am seeing it right now too (haha). How many people do not care about the process being unbiased, as long as the results is justified, how easily public can be manipulated, how putting things on the internet can easily affect the society, etc. I haven't seen other similar shows this year that dive this deep into its political implications to the society yet.

I just binge all the 4 released ep, loved it!My thoughts: Am I supposed to be rooting for Ga On? Because he irritates…
It's because he can sense the signal from Yohan. Yohan is literally welcoming him to dig around and allowing Gaon to have his attitude towards him. Gaon is a smart person who has been watching Yohan closely and he can sense that. You can see more in ep5.

Also, to be honest... If Gaon is the male lead, he is basically doing everything most male leads do lol He is a spy here, and he digs around to get what he wants, and trying to provoke people to get words from them. Have you ever seen a drama lead not doing spying stuffs if their role is a spy? haha. Who cares if he's the senior or boss, if it's the male lead, they could have bad attitudes to anyone and people will cheer for it. It's only because he is doing these things on the male lead (Yohan) so it gets "annoying", especially when Yohan isn't "killing" anyone but "punishing the bads for justice".

But I am actually really on Gaon's side of value. (Gaon's value is more like all the leads in Law School). Judge, court, laws, they are supposed to be neutral and non biased. No one should ever use it as a tool to gain personal gains, especially using it as a political tool. A judge should never ever make up evidences as well. It has so much symbolism and effects to the society as a whole. While I really understand Yohan, if it's wrong, it's wrong. Hence, Dong-sik ended up in jail for his crime to manipulate evidences. But it was "necessary". Though constitution is a must, it is also never perfect, unfortunately :(

You know what's so interesting? I am 100% on Gaon's current status - torn. What Yohan doing is absolutely wrong. Court, laws, these are supposed to be fair and neutral, as a judge, you just must follow the constitution, the effects it has to the society is way too big. It's not a show, and never should be a tool to achieve revenge. But at the same time, my heart also goes for Yohan. I understand why, and I know they deserve to be punished. If I were Gaon I really don't know how to choose either lol
