I wish I could forget and re-experience them too, maybe we can wait a decade or so and rewatch them again, we would forget a lot of it and we would be different people with different perspectives by then, It would be interesting to see how we would feel about them then.

I'm not sure exactly how the calculation is done, but I do know that rating each episode has an effect on the overall rating.
As for verifying your account, since anyone could create multiple fake accounts and keep rating dramas up or down, to prevent this, only the ratings of those accounts that have been verified through their phone number will take effect (everyone has one or two phone numbers, so they can only have one or two verified accounts).
If your account is not verified, your ratings will only be useful to yourself for knowing what dramas you've watched in the past and how you rated it at the time, but it won't effect the overall rating of a drama.
This is all what I learned in mydramalist forums, so If you really want to be sure, you can ask there and the admins will give you more details.

I've rated more dramas a 10, but that was because I was feeling generous and didn't want to nitpick, otherwise If I had been strict, I would've probably done the same as you. well, I would've given a 10 to The Story of Ming Lan too.

I was just replying to his comment, but his profile is gone now, I think either he deleted his own profile or mydramalist deleted it, he had just created this account a few days ago and kept commenting again and again about how bad this season was.
Since his profile was deleted, his comments were also deleted which brought the comments below 10K.

Well, I hope you have better luck in the future, but as long as we keep watching dramas, especially before all the episodes are out and before enough reviews have been written, it's inevitable to be disappointed with some dramas, many times I've promised myself to wait until a drama is completed to read several reviews before I start watching it, but it's hard to resist the temptation.

I agree with FX's identity revelation being underwhelming, it could've been done in a much better way, there was very little reaction, like no one was that surprised.
There were few things I disliked, but there were quite a few things I loved (including the things you loved), I'm too lazy to list them here though.

The Story of Ming Lan is a masterpiece, I really wish I could forget all about it, so I could go and watch it for the first time again, you're in for quite an enjoyable experience. just know that in the first 10 or so episodes the plot moves very slowly but after that every episode will be quite enjoyable.

I second "Nirvana in Fire" and "The Rise of Phoenixes", and if you like smart FL, I would add "The Story of Ming Lan" and "The Story of Yanxi Palace".

In my opinion, the majority of people who don't like this season, don't like it not because the drama itself is bad, but because their expectations are different from what this story is about, from the beginning this story was more a battle of wits between highly intelligent people, of course there is some action too, but the majority of the plot revolves around palace politics, so of course there will be a lot of heavy dialogue involved.

I've noticed a pattern recently, that the people who liked this season have rated a masterpiece like Nirvana In Fire between 9 to 10, but people who don't like this season have also rated Nirvana In Fire much lower, your rating of Nirvana In Fire is 5.5, so the problem is not with this season or this drama in general, the problem is that you like fast-paced action dramas and not slow-paced dialogue heavy dramas.

If you don't want to be disappointed and if you don't want to waste your time watching something you don't enjoy, do some research before starting a drama and see if it suits your preferences and expectations before deciding to invest your time in it, you will save yourself a lot of disappointment this way.

And let me tell you that I have no intention of being judgmental or presumptuous here, I'm just trying to remind you of something I was guilty of at some point, I also wasn't aware of my own preferences and expectations before and that's why I started and dropped a few dramas before I made this realization.

Personally, I liked it, It may not have been as good as season one, but I don't think it's fair to compare it to Ever Night season 2. There are so many dramas being released these days, yet there aren't many that can satisfy me, most of them are superficial and childish, yet they get such high ratings, but an intelligent, well-executed drama like this gets a lower rating than it deserves, just go look at the top shows of mydramalist, see how many dramas have a higher rating than masterpieces like Nirvana In Fire or My Mister.
Of course, People's preferences and expectations are different and I respect that, but I personally didn't see many plot holes, it wasn't perfect and if I were to nitpick I could find some problems with it, but it's still way better than many other dramas that have higher ratings.

By the way, can you tell me about a few of the plot holes you found, be a little more specific about what you didn't like about this season.
