That's interesting, I didn't know that. does that mean that for the first season the dubbing was paid for by the production team? if the initial decision of dubbing was made by the production team, they should continue to pay for it for all 3 seasons, but if it was her own decision, then it makes sense for her to pay it out of her own pocket since they've changed the rules around the payment for dubbing.

In my perception, I think her voice in season 1 fitted her better than her real voice, or it may be because I was already used to her voice and can't get used to it here, I rewatched season 1 right before season 2 aired, so her voice is still fresh in my mind.

I just can't get used to Fan Xian's mother's voice, why did they change her voice? is this actually her real voice or is this dubbed?

You're right, a lot of people only watch an episode or two and then feel overwhelmed by all the characters and everything that happens, so they won't even finish it, they also don't have the patience to sit through heavy dialogues and political scheming, they're really missing out though. Every drama lover should give this masterpiece a chance. I'm waiting patiently for season 3, it will be hard to beat the first season, but I'll remain hopeful, maybe they'll pull off a miracle and top the first one.

We've only seen 6 episodes out of 36, I'm sure it'll get bloody and serious, or bloody serious soon, maybe this is the calm before the storm, we'll have to wait and see.

Not just in c-dramas, even among Korean dramas there isn't anything that can top it in my book, I can't believe "Twinkling Watermelon" and a few other dramas have higher ratings in mydramalist. I mean they're pretty good too, but they're nowhere near Nirvana In Fire.

Watch Empress Ki, And if it doesn't have to be historical, watch "Lighter & Princess", I watched this before joy of life season 2, and it was really a great drama.

Watch "Nirvana In Fire" if you haven't watched it already, The main lead is super smart, I personally Liked it more than Joy of life.
