Not my favourite year either just very bland stories - all the ingredients but not in the correct quantities and not baked long enough. Yeah Moving lost me with the violence for one. the terrestrial TV stuff is still toned down violence isn't it?
1.How many 2023-release dramas did you watch? Watched all of? 6 Started and didn't finish (yet?) 39 What country did you watch the most in 2023? South Korea What genre(s) do you usually watch? Romantic Comedy but I'll pretty much watch anything (except vampires and serial killers) What is your top drama listed in this article? I only have 2 listed here The Glory pt.2 and Love to Hate You What is your top drama NOT listed in this article? The Kidnapping Day I gave it a generous 8.0 How was your drama journey in 2023? Rubbish! I started so many but just couldn't finish them. Most of them because I got bored of them - not annoyed by them not disgusted just bored. What is your wish or plan in dramaland in 2024? My wish is for better stories to hang the cliches on. Some good Chinese and Japanese dramas would be nice - I didn't finish any in 2023.
Not from me I'm afraid, I can be most of the way through a show when the ML will do something awful and that's it. Dropped! Why on Earth would I want to watch people whom I wouldn't sit in the pub with?
Some poor cinematography on show, especially the food porn Montages which were too quick and too close making for a dizzying experience. Tell not show on a regular basis. All very contrived and not in a good way.

Thanks all, nice to see some insights into how we watch and enjoy our dramas. I think I can come away from this with a better understanding of why the domestic ratings mean something to some. Not going to lie, it still means little to me but at least we aren't fighting over the ratings.

Thank you yes, I think because I watch dramas by streaming the complete series after broadcast I don't get the excitement or pride, so it was hard to understand. Whilst I may like certain actors or find them attractive - I'm not a big follower of Social Media etc. so they aren't as immediate for me. Also I'm old so a lot of people I think of as stars are old or dead now, it's harder to get as involved over people who could be your sons or daughters.
Who cares what the ratings are, anyone that does could you explain why you care?Purely for my curiosity.
Cool, thanks for the reply. I get the good for actors bit also it helps the producers and writers. It also, for Kdramas that are shot on the go, can drive some strange plot changes to improve ratings and get dramas cut short or over extended with filler episodes.
I was more meaning for us drama fans. There are some great shows out there that are sleeper hits, becoming classics on streaming sites after the fact. There are also plenty of shows rated quite low either here or domestic ratings that I thoroughly enjoy. As well as a number of shows with great ratings I find tedious.
Which takes me back to my question as a drama fan on MDL why are you interested in domestic viewing figures? Is it just a 'see everyone enjoys it like I do' validation sort of thing?
