the Japanese version is of it's time and place - darker and grittier in quite a mundane sort of way and without the feel good ending, though happy? Worth a watch - recommended

I'm sort of sitting on it at the moment as I quite enjoyed the kid's budding romance. She's quite a classic non-doormat FL and I suppose apart from the plumpness he's a fairly classic 'weak' male lead (à la Ho Goo's Love etc.) but their relationship is really sweet without the usual disdain to affection trope.
BUT the undercurrent of sociopathic violence and deceit ain't my bag at all.

Excellent review. The violence as fun factor didn't do it for me either - they just come over as thugs or morally ambivalent rather than anti-heroes.

Neither one was a winner for me - I think they dropped the ball by not involving the parents more from the beginning if I had felt invested in their stories for themselves rather than for their kids it would have been better.
Instead, I was really enjoying the kids story and then it stops dead and we have the adults past.
Mata Hari and a thug aren't best ways of evoking my sympathy either.

Well I was enjoying this and all involved like but the parents backstories are strangely tedious and uninvolving.

Puerile humour, if that's your sort of thing dive in - if not you'll know why it's under 8 already and won't bother.

Well my curiosity didn't last the first episode - not my bag just felt grimy and nasty for the sake of being grimy and nasty.

English slang like - Old Bean, Old Chap etc.

Wut? The autopsy bits are intense the rest of it is just lazy ass caricatures that make little sense.
How can top of her class could have been a judge, loved crime dramas Prosecutor not even know the basics of a crime scene?

Binged the first few episodes and enjoyed it went back the next night and it was a load of rubbish.
Suspend your critical faculties and binge it in one go is my advice, if you leave any time for thinking you'll be going "WUT??"

Tried it again and dropped it again, tedious. The best bits are the groups of friends chatting and that isn't enough to make me keep watching.

You should be able to edit your review and change the score top right where it shows completed there is a little drop down arrow

This could so easily have been so much better, still worth a watch though.

Unfortunately it's more about insecurity than attractiveness to (insert gender of choice) so as you say other people showing concern has little effect.

From looking at the poster to watching the drama I thought they had changed actresses, apparently not. I found it too much of a slog to keep watching even the whole ghost angle was somehow mundane.
