And there other ugly things (side-effects) yet to be revealed. Only the ruler of shuiyuntian seems unaffected. Also, maybe her heart knows that if she becomes aware of her past identity as goddess xi yun, it'll be really difficult for her to reconcile & balance her personal desires with her responsibilities as a goddess to protect the safety of the three realms. So she deliberately makes this choice so that she can live a life that is not complicated. She already saw how Dongfang Qingcang finds it strenuous to protect her as well as his people even though he doesn't tell her anything. He forced to be that way do things that may not please everyone because of his identity as moon supreme. So orchid knows how burdensome one's identity can be if one's heart is not truly in it or if one is not capable enough to bear the weight of that position. she is not capable yet to do that, whereas Dongfang Qingcang is.
In addition, she was unable to feel the sadness of the land of her ancestors, but she already sensed the sadness of the moon tribe people. So she knows she must help Dongfang Qingcang & his moon tribe people too. They also need her. At least she supposedly thinks that way.
But the giant tortoise's warning hints at some upcoming changes in her priorities (maybe after she gets resurrected as a goddess).

And Orchid doesn't behave pitifully all the time. In the novel, she slowly evolves & become smarter day by day. She always knows when to be decisive to protect herself. She even betrays the demon king. When you read the novel, you'll find her actions perfectly justified. But the betrayal doesn't last long because demon king saves her from the traitors of the heavenly realm when they push her off some terrace. He comes as a one man army and suffers heavy injuries. Orchid thinks it's because the demon king wants to protect her body, but clever readers who can read between the lines as they read that particular chapter will know that demon king has subconsciously started caring for Orchid. That's why he rescued her. He is just not ready to admit it to himself. For eg, after the epic rescue, demon king even enquires about her master Siming. He asks her where was her so called favourite inseparable master. This hints at the fact that if necessary, he'd turn a blind eye if orchid tries to escape to be with her master. orchid once said that her master is the only one who treats her well in the whole heavenly realm. The demon king remembers that detail. He is even jealous of Siming whenever Orchid mentions her name because he thinks Siming is a male. This shows that he starts to feel something for Orchid. He always gets irritated when orchid mentions Siming just like Dongfang gets irritated whenever orchid mentions god of war in the drama version. Also, in the novel, orchid chooses to be with the demon king after the great rescue scene only because she thinks her master abandoned her. Not because she is blind to the risks involved if she is with him. Everyone at that point is after orchid & demon king's life, and she realizes the only safe place is to be near him. Then, there's another chapter in the novel which describes a scene where the demon king fills the sky with magic & fireworks on some festive occasion. He does this because he subconsciously wants to cheer orchid up. Also there are some descriptions in the chapter which lets us readers kwow the inner thoughts of the demon king. He is starting to have the urge to be a better person in front of little orchid. He simply doesn't tell her that. Even he is surprised by his emotions & thoughts. Dongfang demon king is cruel to orchid only in the initial half of the book. In the middle & final sections of the book, the demon king is gentler & patient towards little orchid. He isn't cruel to little orchid at all. He's more like the beast from the original beauty and the beast story, and little orchid is more like ' Belle' in beauty and the beast.
Also, the original novel doesn't meet 21st century ideal notions of feminism , modern ideal notions of love & other " isms". This is not a novel for such category of readers. This is a story meant for people who know how to enjoy the beauty of a story. It's like comparing the original beauty and the beast story (which is a bit dark) with it's Disney version. The truth is, both versions are beautiful in their own way. Please judge a story after reading it completely instead of just letting oneself be influenced by people who haven't even read the novel word by word.
In addition, there are numerous comical, humourous and subtle+ overt romance narratives & scenes in the novel to the very end. Also, before orchid dies, an epic scene & epic moment is described in detail which shows how beautiful the transformation process is when an anti-hero realizes what he truly wants & wanted all these millennia & when he realizes he got the answer to what he was looking for.
The novel presents a happy ending. Also, the novel is not a 36 episode drama. So the changes depicted in the personality of both demon king & orchid are subtle, slow. And the novel is highly entertaining! There's no single boring, super-torturous scenes( at least between the main leads) . Everything is narrated like a beautiful, exhilarating adventure.
Why does the orchid bone always give out a faint orangish glow whenever little orchid touches Dongfang or Dongfang touches little Orchid? Saw that in ep 28 as well as in the previews of one of the upcoming episodes.
Xiao lan hua is really brave in ep 28. That was a really brave choice to make. But I wonder whether she really did succeed in getting the moon supreme drugged with the healing potion xunfeng gave her. Maybe dongfang pretended to be drugged somehow after drinking the wine she gave him. Maybe he took some antidote beforehand as a precaution.
And why does the actress who portrays the role of danyin’s mum resemble the actress who plays Jieli?
Also, Is yanv male and Chonghua female? The subtitles in certain episodes refer to them using different pronouns each time.

She's indeed quite naive & stupid both in the novel & in the drama too. So, at certain moments in some episodes she might say things or do things which can be a frustrating to watch, especially for fans of team Dongfang Qingcang.
But I don't hate the drama version of little orchid character. The drama version of little orchid is ok so far. She is likeable even though I love the novel version of little orchid character more. And I think she is getting wiser. It just takes time.
Also, if Orchid gets too smart all of a sudden & become equally super smart , powerful & good at strategies like Dongfang, then the appeal behind the"strongest Male lead attracted to weakest female lead" kind of love story theme will be lost. Then it's no different from any other usual love story.
