You're welcome! It's a bit of a heartbreaking, but beautiful, hopeful drama. Doppelgangers and time travel are very sharp plot tools there. No additional dimensions with stone-faced rapey monarchs, though, oh well.. ;)
For me, the episode 5 scene with him on the stage and the word MATH up on the screen summarized this drama perfectly. Let fantasy be fantasy - Goblin never needed a scientific explanation for how the sword or his return worked, and neither did Someday or One Day for time travel (won't spoil it if you haven't seen it, it's leaps, bounds, light years better than this drivel, very highly recommended).
No kidding.. Or needing her as a zero to get out of his square root?? Haha just convert to 1/2 exponent and voila? I feel like LMH spouting number theory and quantum mechanics feeds his fakery to astronomical levels. Gu Jun Pyo 1.0 would laugh at this Gu Jun Pyo 3.0.
After getting through episode 6, this drama reminds me of el Chapulín Colorado, for those of you out there that know the Mexican action hero and the foam rocks they'd always use for props and the terrible green screens. Granted, that show was from the 70s/80s, but cheap effects are timeless good fun. This is awesome, I'm loving it, but let's be honest, I was wrong - it's not a bit campy, it's a LOT campy.
Agreed! I think CLOY is the only other drama during which I've cried as much. Goblin is up there, too, but the emotions here were over the representation of real suffering. The drama felt so real, even in its bombastic moments. Credit to the actors and production team, they pulled off a beautiful project.
so far i have only watched 2 episodes but I dont think its that bad in terms of storyline, will see how it develops…
Interesting! I don't know why they think it's a good investment to cast all these idols in these dramas but I don't know really how profitable the have been, so maybe it makes sense to the producers, not the discerning viewers, though
For Mr Sunshine you gotta wait till episode 17/18, then it takes off like gangbusters. The buildup was way too long but the payoff was extraordinary. Dong-Mae is one of the best characters I've seen in kdramas and I so wished the drama had picked up sooner. It made me a Yoo Yeon Seok fangirl, no shame.
For that one, the wait is worthwhile. I hope The King doesn't make us wait as long.
I came to this party with zero expectations, other than Arthur Chen's swoony face and voice (thank goodness he doesn't need a voice actor to dub him ha!), and frankly I was surprised by how much I enjoyed episode 1.
It's a little bit campy, a lot cringey, none of the young actors know what they're doing (except Ancy Deng - imo she's carrying her weight well), the sword flying could've been worse, the wigs and most of the costume choices are dubious, but it's all good. The concept is cool, it was a fun watch if you remind yourself this is not supposed to be high-quality wuxia, and I'm looking forward to more.
And holy crap, Dylan Xiong is older than and as tall as Arthur Chen, but why does he look like an overgrown baby?
Honestly I was so happy to see her with Je hyuk, I find him really charming and I love that he sees how beautiful…
Yeah, he is a serial cheater, sleeps with other women often. Wait until you get to 7/8, you'll see him in action again. SW may have appreciated feeling like a woman again, true. It's always an ego boost, isn't it? But more than that, this was a manipulation to accomplish a goal - she needed those financial records and this was the easiest way to get them LOL!
