True, on the surface is not, but how they write about it, with the gods, and the punishment/gift/curse, the power of choice and sacrifice, what makes the goblin - the sword? his desire? that of his family? the blood spilled? it's easy to get lost. lol but yeah, if you keep it to the basics, it's straightforward, I agree :)
And this one is definitely more challenging to write in a way that makes sense and flows. I'm really eager to hear what you think of Someday or One Day, I hope you enjoy it after all this hype!
I did watch that video LOL! I loved it, very relatable. I watched their video for World of the Married, too, and the one guy and I are definitely kindred spirits. The spiral of misery in ep1 is indeed *chef's kiss*! hahahaha
Re: "my wild theory at this point is saying that the writer KES don't really know how to handle a story this complex, and kinda try to half-ass a lot of the explanations and attempt to mask them away with the romance scenes."
Agreed! At least in Goblin the mess can be covered up somewhat by the fact that it's an esoteric concept (much more so than math - at least math of this level you can use reference books to learn about haha) and the subtitling hides a lot of confusion because you forgive them trying to translate something so "poetic" - Goblin is one of my favorites, but I don't pretend to fully understand the details, but the concepts are laid out well enough, and Gong Yoo (hence, "Big" haha).
I've seen Secret Garden and Mr. Sunshine, and her dialogue and characters jump out of the screen, for me they come alive. Here? Not at all!
Agreed! If they put as much care into the plot-driving scenes as they did for the PPL scenes, we'd be in a different position right now. But it'd still be plagued by bad acting from LMH (but do we really expect anything different? lol)
I'm still trying to figure out how he measures a day in the limbo (which is now equal to 2 months in earth (?) time by somehow applying 2.72.... euler's number to another dimensionless number between 0 and 1 in a square root of 17 to the 63rd power lmao my engineering degree is not enough to understand this drama, I don't know how others do it, unless they like to pretend to they do to not feel inadequate)
Li Zi Wei is one of my favorite MLs in any drama. Ahhh my heart couldn't take it either! Isn't the time travel and doppelgangers here done amazingly well? I still cry every time I hear the beginning credit song (the one from the walkman not so much.. you hear it soooo many times, it was a bit tiresome for me lol)
I've read of theories that surmise that she subconsciously knows him from a previous time loop, and that's why she accepts him, though still behaves coldly to him, but I don't buy it. I need visual cues, and this drama doesn't do that well at all.
I thought this drama was pre-produced! Filming is still on-going!?
A thought on: ‘your earth is still flat,’ it’s not a cute line.
A little bit after that, Sin Jae asked her if she believed Lee Gon, and she told him she believes everything. Then what's that line about her still thinking the earth is flat? Is it now just literal instead of metaphorical of her skepticism?
Between this, the scene with the phone call and the comment after where the uncle *suspects* that lee gon knows something, and also the two videos he watches from 2019 and 2022, it makes me think that these scenes are crossing timelines and we're not told about it. The uncle crossing back into the republic had to set his watch back in time, but without context, reason, or logic, it's all just confusing and frustrating if you try to follow.
Quite suprised because normally such female characters don't appear in KES drams. Even Rachel from Heirs had more…
Just to think that we're making a hop over from Mr Sunshine to this, ayyy my brain, I can't. The concept of "vergüenza ajena"/shame by proxy is very suitable here.
i think he is more possessive towards her than loving? I mean it seems that he even cheated on her hence the divorce
It probably was. That ex is probably like a dog - doesn't eat and doesn't want others to eat either. Just wants her back so no one else gets her, or maybe doesn't want someone else to be a father figure to the kid
I hope viewers didn't jump into watching this drama thinking Jinyoung and Jeon So Nee's characters are the typical…
I'm loving both sides of the story. This is a story that's not just book-ends of past and present, it's a continuum, and understanding and appreciating how it all started and what caused transitions for both him and her is a huge part of the story.

Good point. He does seem like someone who doesn't like to lose. I'm surprised it's taken this long for him to create an opportunity for himself, though it's not very clear how long they've been divorced, right?
I get why she gave up on Jae Hyun when her father threatened him in 1995, but why wouldn't she talk to him before making a decision now and just threw him out to protect him? After all they've been through, individually and together, I found it disappointing that she wouldn't think he deserved a chance to participate in this decision, which affected both of them. Dramas gotta drama, but this trope I hate with a passion. Glad to see from the preview that Jae Hyun seems to step up and challenge the ex-husband back.
By the way, at which point in time did the husband seem to still have feelings for Ji Soo?? That whole thing about wanting her back came straight out of nowhere for me.
I just realized, JH and YR got divorced too but they didn't go crazy like the other two??? Is it cause they don't…
Yerim and Je Hyuk are both co-dependent losers, they're made for each other, but hopefully the accidental admission that all men are alike (except for him! He's *different* lol) will make her wake up.
it took yerim a cake to get back with jehyuk? really? ;/
But the scene with him explaining how all men are the same, except *him*! Lmao... He's not digging himself out of that hole, and I'm waiting now for Yerim to wake up from that trance that has her behaving so pitifully.

But! Here's a source for the on-going filming of the king. I'm very surprised it's still not done, @Pranksalot is right!
