I once said in here that by episode 37 if people can still hate on Yuanqi as a character then I will never understand your bias hate towards him and I never will on my end lol.
It really amazes me(in a bad way) how people can still biasly hate on Yuanqi even after finding out what he's sacrificed and done on his end to show how deeply he care and love A-Yin.
Well preference is one thing but I will never understand the feelings of those who BIASLY hate Yuanqi as a character.
On a side note, I personally really love the friendship between, Yuanqi and Hongyi and A-Yin and Yuan Shuang because they really are like a parallel to Bai Jue and Tianqi and Shang Gu and Yuemi (ALP)

I for one, am a big fan to ALP and I still love and enjoyed The Last Immortal.
Both dramas have its charm that I love.
Just as much as I love Bai Jue and Shang Gu in ALP as my favourite pairing, I love Yuan Qi and Fengyin love story too.
I keep reading comments saying TLI lacks CGI... But for me I don't see or feel that way... Let me ask you something those that care so much about CGI.... would you prefer a drama that have good CGI, but lack development or consistency in the characters OR a good story that have great developments and consistency? For me I prefer the latter. Since that's what I care more about in watching a drama.
All actors did great in playing their characters, I am especially fond of both WAY and ZLS because they did a great job in bringing out their emotions and characters to life, which affected and brought out those emotions in me on those scenes when it happened! This is why for me, this drama will be among those I'll always remember!

The fact that at the birthday celebration she didn't wish him a happy birthday but we get one later in that scene made me appreciate it even more when she wished him a happy birthday.
Yuanqi doesn't need a grand celebration (like what HS prepared for him), all he wanted was to celebrate his birthday with those he loves, even if it's something simple like what we saw in that dream.
I'm happy at that scene because what A-Yin said to Yuanqi is what I want her to say to him. On his birthday he didn't need to feel alone anymore, because she will always be by his side to celebrate it with him. That was such a meaningful thing to say(since I felt sad for him prior to all this).
Yuanqi wished A-Yin a happy birthday back then, and now, 1000 years later she did the same for him 😭😭😭
Not long ago in here before that episode aired. I was feeling sorry for Yuanqi how he never get to have a proper birthday celebration with his parents. Being 1200 years is a lot of time.
So this is why I was teary at the scene where A-Yin wish Yuanqi a happy birthday and told him how for every birthday of his, she wants to be by his side to celebrate together with him 😭😭😭
I felt like that dream sequence is how Fengyin felt deep inside her after finding out the whole truth, which was powerful enough to pull Yuanqi consciousness into her dream too
Everything that happened in that dream is real and I'm glad that I get to see a moment where A-Yin wish Yuanqi a happy birthday!!

A final hug would be nice. But in terms of romance you need to think that Yuan Qi and and FengYin had the entirety of the Drama (most part) to build on their romance wheres Hongyi did not realize or chase after his feelings until the last few episodes so they have to focus on the secondary couple more.
But with that being said , I am on the side who wish that Yuan Qi and FengYin can have a more satisfying ending , if they can't kiss at the end... Then a final hug would sufficient in my eyes!
Or at least close the gap and walk towards each other!
They could've just copy/paste ALP ending, when you miss someone for a thousand years, you don't just stare like…
Shang Gu kneeled for 500 years in ALP and as soon as she saw him back, she couldn't help walk to him step by step and then when she heard him say he's Bai Jue she couldn't contain her emotions anymore and went up and hugged him. You can feel the longing and how much she misses him in that moment. I wanted something more for them back then when ALP ended but comparing it to the ending for Yuanqi and Feng Yin like this, I felt they got the short end of the stick since FY waited 1000 years for him to return but they can't even hug or at least close the distance and not them standing at a distance 😭😭
As far as chemistry goes, I don't agree with those who say Yuanqi and FengYin lack chemistry, because I saw them with chemistry, even though I am not satisfied with their ending, but the way they look at each other is filled with happiness and that they're finally back together. I wanted something more because they deserve better than what they got for that unsatisfying ending IMO.
I found this drama much more enjoyable than its prequel Ancient Love Poetry which put me to sleep a lot, maybe…
I actually love Ancient Love Poetry alot because of their back story that was built on at the beginning in the God Realm it gives the viewers a sense on what it's like before the tragedy happened.
But with that said I do agree that in ALP, it's more heartbreaking in terms of angst and more serious
