Personally if you think she's not a good actress or agree with those haters than that's your problem.

For me, I couldn't have asked for anyone better than her portrayal of Shanggu in ALP since she really made the character memorable for me not through her charm or beauty but her acting in bringing her character to life in ALP

Yeah I love ALP as well from the beginning.

TLI is good and it will get better. I love YQ character when he have that growth and development as we see through his journey and he's truly loveable in my eyes.

Him being the son to my favourite couple (Bai Jue and Shang Gu in ALP) earns him extra points too, haha joking, while that holds truth but even without ALP I will still naturally come to love Yuanqi on my end since he's truly a selfless person, you'll see T ^ T

I need another drama between WAY and ZLS as a CP, but this time in a modern setting haha (please!!)

I see it as a direct continuation since the story and timeline is linked and Yuanqi is their son.

It is not wrong to say that you don't need to watch ALP to understand TLI since TLI can be a standalone drama, a spinoff on Yuanqi(Bai Jue and Shang Gu son)

BUT personally on my part I still will recommend ALP to people who haven't watch it because they will understand what YQ parents was like etc etc although YQ have it more hard in the novel due to his upbringing and his past..

Whether fans or viewers like it or not, the story is connected because the characters is connected.

With that being said, I love both dramas respectively though

It's NOT a waste IMO. I reckon he did really good in portaying the difference in the carefree Gujin at the beginning and the True God Yuanqi which shoulders a lot of responsibilities.

It is also thanked to him that plays a big part alongside Lusi that made their chemistry fun to watch

I can feel their love and just by the way they look at each other and when they're sad and the way the act and express it really brought out the emotions in me so Both WAY and Lusi didn't waste their potential in TLI, thanks to this drama I've came to notice WAY as an actor!

Totally recommend this drama!! Speaking from a ALP fan perspective here.

The names of the other characters is changed which can be confusing but it's not hard to understand the story especially when you can follow Yuanqi's growth to adulthood

Characters also have consistency in their developments too!

Yup! This is why I love Yuanqi's character for the similarities of protecting the woman he loves but take on a different path than his father to achieve it (in another light) for all said.

I honestly really love both Yuaqi and Baijue respectively so this is why for me when it comes to protecting the FL in their respective story, if people can love Bai Jue, how can they not love Yuanqi or vice versa?

I love them both! And will understand those bias haters in here

But there is a difference though and I've wrote it in my review in here as well.

One of the things I love about Yuan Qi's character is that, although he know he doesn't have much time left, he really just simply want to spend those remaining moments with Feng Yin, so they can have those happy memories to look back to.

This is really difference to his father, Bai Jue, because respectively(each to their own) love the FL, in BJ perspectives, he thought that having his family hate him will be their strength to live on and move on without being heartbroken when he's gone. Since he didn't want the whole short time bliss leads to an long term suffering.

But Yuan Qi, in his own story shows us this in another light, where he didn't want to waste any moments away and he just simply want to create those happy memories together for Feng Yin, so that even if he's gone there won't be any regrets.

I think deep down Yuan Qi is subconsciously impacted by his father's decision and wish he didn't have to go that direction to make them(YQ and SG) hate him(BJ), because that left them with regrets when they found out the whole truth but is too late to go back to fix those regrets because they didn't know BJ real intentions and how much BJ loved them

Anyways what I wanted to say is that I honestly love BOTH Bai Jue and Yuanqi here, they both will do anything to protect the woman they love but have taken different paths to achieve it. If I have to choose here, although I understand BJ intentions were good, but I have to agree with Yuanqi decisions and what he's showing me, since I rather see some happy moments which leaves them happy memories without any regrets IF he have to "die".

I guess you can say it's similar but not the same. I see the similarities and differences on my end.

Me too! Even at the beginning though GuJin seems to be someone who, although sad on the inside he will not express it on the surface. I love those subtle expressions that WAY portrayed between Gu Jin and when he's back to True God Yuanqi!

Those moments when he get to have those blissful moments with Fengyin was his most happiest even when he knows that he will have to eventually leave this world, but I love how he didn't let that effect him for being affectionate towards FengYin

I guess we can look at the context to see and feel what it means. Yes, that word can have a few other meanings too, but in context of the situation when he said it, I interpret it is a endearing(and polite) way of saying "wife" (which I'm sure when Yuanqi said it, he meant wife).

I can't get over those times when Yuanqi calls Fengyin "夫人 (Fūrén)" meaning Honey / Wife. And the way he says it shows he really enjoy calling her by that title. For me it is really an endearing thing to say and I know deep down Fengyin likes it haha 😍😍

I usually do it just a few episodes before the ending and then give my final rating when I saw the ending as a revise version lol since when I write a review that I feel strongly about, it tends to be long.

I am glad his character did in the end because he earned our love!

The only thing I hope that him going up the ranks won't attract more toxic comments though.

Happy for Yuanqi(Gu Jin) for going up the ranks. He earned our love by the end (minus those bias haters who are blinded by their biasness against him though)
