Happy 2 months since we came across this drama. MM!! No matter how many people come out with the most ridiculous…
What I dont like is other people coming into this page saying how good their fav character is. I get annoyed with those type of comments the most. I mean we are entitled to our preferences but no matter what you should not come into this page to say you love X character better..
To me honestly, after reading the Novel, it really enhanced my love for the changes in the drama since the drama changed it to the way that fixed it from the novel that I am iffy about.
So for this I will always love MM on my end! The journey was totally worth it in the end.
Happy 2 months!!! Really wish I can go through this experience again like it was my first time!! Those who don't watch this or give it a chance is really missing out imo
Okay so I asked this question on the "Love of a divine tree" page, so I feel its only fair I ask this here. Also…
To me, it is Fan Yue 100% without a doubt.
Fan Yue in the drama was referred to being the strongest among the Demon King(for his age too).
Fan Yue in the Novel is a Demon King, and is in a Demi God Level, which this level in terms of power is stronger than any immortal level. Not to mention if we are to look at him being Tian Qi being among the True Gods as well.
By the end of the drama, Fan Yue became a God, so either way, just because MM doesn't have much time to showcase his powers in the drama, it doesn't mean Fan Yue is weak.
In the novel, Fan Yue is stronger than Bai Shuo. And have more chance to show his powers , but the drama changed that to make it where Bai Shuo and Fan Yue are both equal in that sense. One way or another that is an appeal in terms of pairing side of things, whether viewers like it or not.
Rightttttttttttttttt I felt bad that they couldnt merge both spirits just like every other reincarnation drama
Its all different personal preference. I love Jing Yuan too, but tbh I love how they did it in the drama because it made sense in terms of reincarnation side of things.
Reincarnation should not be about merging because you should be living on based on your current identity.
If MM had done it like how ALP did it in terms of QM and HC, it would leave a bitter taste in my heart because I felt it was unfair for QM back and HC back then as they were like sacrifices to both BJ and SG in that sense.
The novel is really dragging this on when she is not being clear about it...Heck I am up to chapter 74 and she's…
Yeah don't read the novel because it was not that appealing.
It didn't ruin MM for me after reading the novel because after I read the novel is when I came to appreciate and love the changes made for Bai Shuo's character and the ending for me in the Drama MM(even more than I already did).
I finished the novel yesterday and they didn't really get together as a cp until the final chapter and then the climax happened.
And Bai Shuo never found out the one who saved her back then was Tianqi. But I guess in the end, her returning back to being Yuemi and put the puzzles together she would have figured but I wish the Novel have her found out the truth as Bai Shuo you know.
I am not saying the Novel doesn't have other good points, because it did, but I just felt like the majority part in novel, the bad and unappealing points overshadowed the good points for me.
So in the end for me, overall, I felt MM was better than the Novel, with these changes, this is how I feel after experiencing the Novel myself.
Chong Zhao and Fu Ling was pretty meh for me too. Fu Ling and Bai Xi is not the same person in the novel so that was changed in the drama(I actually like this change in the drama since it makes her character more complex and interesting). In the Novel, I don't care for them at all. At least in the Drama MM it made me care and like them in the end. I also don't see how anyone can ship that pairing seeing how CZ feelings for BS didn't change, not even in the end. I didn't feel his romantic love for Fu Ling in the Novel so that is another negative point for me.
I need spoilers please.1. What episode do they become a couple?2. Any love triangle?3. Are there kiss scenes,…
1. The Main pairing love is gradual, they started realizing their feelings in the Yi City(Outlanders arc), but if you want the episode number.... then Episode 19 (because there was that mutual understanding of confession through their actions
2. One side LT on Chong Zhao side. Bai Shuo(female lead) in the drama is clear about her feelings for Fan Yue(ML).
3. Someone counted in here before there's 10 for Fan Yue and Bai Shuo. MM has a lot of kiss scenes for the main pairing.
4. If you're referring to breakup due to a misunderstanding like those overused tropes in other xianxias, then No, you can rest assured that MM is different.
To sum it up, MM is one of a kind xianxia where it doesn't follow the usual tropes of other xianxia in terms of toxic relationships. The main pairing, when they finally become a couple, they really communicates with each other and avoids any misunderstanding. They are a healthy relationship, so if you're looking for a fresh take and you are open minded to accepting this being done differently for the main pairing who goes through obstacles together and avoids any unnecessary misunderstanding then you can give this drama a go.
The other side character all have their own arcs to shine and their story have also touched many viewers as well.
I(we who rated it high) do love MM on our side here!
In the end its up to you whether you want to watch it or not. But if you do watch it hope you will like enjoy MM too just like most of us in here!
The novel is really dragging this on when she is not being clear about it...Heck I am up to chapter 74 and she's…
Yeah just like I said in my original comment, I am thankful the drama made these changes and didn't do Bai Shuo dirty because I am getting annoyed at her in the novel when it comes to how she always runs and want to go save Chong Zhao(I always feel sorry for Fan Yue when it happened).
The drama really fixed these things I didn't like about Bai Shuo in the novel. And I'm really glad we did have these changes to her character in the drama because I remember back then when the drama was airing, we all thought that she will choose to save Chong Zhao in the outlander arc because of how Fu Ling made her choose between saving Fan Yue or Chong Zhao. We were all pleasantly surprise in the drama her she chose Fan Yue because it shows us and her who is the most important in her heart and she will always choose Fan Yue over Chong Zhao.
In the novel, I am not saying she doesn't care for Fan Yue or Mumu but I don't like how she hurts Fan Yue in the process when she disregard her life and gets hurt when she protects or save Chong Zhao, and this has hurted Fan Yue in the process.
I love the drama made it right for that and this is why for me, I personally will always love and prefer these changes in the drama for the better of it. Less of a headache and more endearing to watch for the Main pair side of things. I do love Fan Yue/Mumu and Tian Qi in the novel BSSS though.
The novel is really dragging this on when she is not being clear about it...Heck I am up to chapter 74 and she's…
In the novel, Fan Yue also have the signs of the seven souls burning seal but the reason he got it in the novel is because of a different reason.
Because in the novel, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue formed the soul contract so they can sense what is happening to each other at a distance etc.
So the seven stars on his chest was said that it is symbolic of his lost memories (as True God Tianqi), so he needed these Divine Wood to get back his lost memories so he can find out his true identity(return to being True God Tianqi).
When Fan Yue got the Divine Wood from Feng Yin(the pheonix queen), he needed it to be refined etc so when Novel Bai Shuo sensed it, she wanted to recreate the first incident when it created a backlash for Fan Yue injuring him and he lost his memories. The first time it was unintentional on her end.
The second time, she sensed it and she did it on purpose because she wanted Fan Yue to become Mumu again. Because to her, it is only when he's Mumu is when he is obedient to her. In the novel she told him she's his master, not lover.
I honestly really disliked how selfish she was when she did that purposely the second time because it really will hurt Fan Yue in the process, but luckily in the second time, Fan Yue refined it before Bai Shuo appear in Pheonix mountain. So her plan didn't work. Fan Yue did pretend to be Mumu again at first, to trick her into coming with him to the Demon Realm where the purple moon lake is because it is the only way she will go with him. He was mad at her but he also was worried about her injuries so when he took her to the Purple Moon Lake it was to help her rebuild her spiritual core and her spiritual powers became stronger(she didn't know anything about this though).
Unlike in the drama where Bai Shuo cares and accepts both versions since she never separated Mumu and Fan Yue as two different people. I love that in the drama.
But in the novel, she did on her end since she prefers Mumu better. I feel so sad for Novel Fan Yue because he clearly cares for Bai Shuo on his end, even when he is mad at her because she is willing to die to protect Chong Zhao(what she showed him during the outlander arc), and break the promise she made to Mumu when she said she will never abandon him, but in the outlander arc when she chose to die to save Chong Zhao, Novel Mumu was really hurt in the process.
Novel Fan Yue is more cold and is less likely to express his true feelings but you can see through his actions how he does all this in a roundabout way(indirectly) to protect and help Bai Shuo.
Its just these moments when I am reading the novel is what makes me appreciate the changes in the drama so much because the Novel Bai Shuo to me is annoying when she puts Chong Zhao to a very important place in her heart and how she hurt Novel Fan Yue that I didn't like π₯²
Like why can't she accept that Mumu is a side to Fan Yue that is more open to his own feelings, and when Fan Yue arrived at the scene to save Novel Bai Shuo, when she got her arms broken and in that bloody mess to save and protect Chong Zhao, when she was in Fan Yue's embrace, she asked for him to not be angry at her. When Fan Yue arrived at the scene he was mad (and hurt) to see how she can disregard her life like this. But when Bai Shuo said to him to not be mad at her anymore just these words alone, he is not angry at her all that much anymore but in my mind I was like "Well I am angry at her!" Lol
To be honest, some may prefer the novel better and this is a matter of personal preference on what appeals to…
The novel is really dragging this on when she is not being clear about it...
Heck I am up to chapter 74 and she's still like this and has shown me this on several occassions she made this choice, the unappealing thing about her is she puts Chong Zhao to a very important place in her heart to the point she(the novel side to her) has shown me she have chose to protect Chong Zhao, and choose Chong Zhao over Fan Yue. Bai Shuo in the novel really values her own life because she doesn't want to die yet since she wants to rapay her savior (Tianqi), but she is willing to give up her life in the outlanders arc to save Chong Zhao, and in this point she have hurted Novel Fan Yue because she broke the promise she made to him saying she will never abandon him and worst is she knows it.
Honestly, if Novel Fan Yue is mad at Novel Bai Shuo, I really support it because I am personally not so fond of her during these situations when she has shown Novel Fan Yue how important Chong Zhao is to her....
I wish the writer made a clean cut in the novel where she is more clear about who she really loves.
But I don't know man, sometimes I felt maybe this is Tian Qi's retribution (karma???) Because in the past(Shang Gu Novel) he didn't know how Yuemi felt for him until very late and his affection was directed at Shang Gu and this have hurted Yuemi because her love was unrequited. So it felt like the writer is doing this on purpose to show that "this is Tianqi's turn to feel what Yuemi felt back then".
I don't support it back then since I felt sorry for Yuemi, and I don't support it now because I feel sorry for Novel Fan Yue (because he is Tianqi's tribulation).
This is why to me honestly, sure the drama MM has changes done but they are honestly changes to me done in a way that it fixed these issues I didn't enjoy in the novel.
I do enjoy flashbacks to their past though. But how she wants FY to remain as MuMu and what she did to get back Mumu was another thing I didn't like as well in the novel...
I felt like I am reading the Novel (BSSS) for Fan Yue and Tianqi lol because I am not that fond of Novel BS (for all said). I don't like Novel Bai Shuo for these reasons and in this case, I definitely prefer the changes to her character in the drama(MM) over her novel portrayal.
Don't mind me I need to rant this out when reading these scenes in the novel...π’
So for those who didn't like these changes, I strongly disagree because for me if they kept her character like in the novel in the drama, I wouldn't have love the drama and her character this much. The change was done in a positive light in the drama (MM), at least how I saw it in comparison. And for this I am thankful in MM for these changes.
To be honest, some may prefer the novel better and this is a matter of personal preference on what appeals to an individual taste.
However, on my end, I prefer the Drama better because in the DRAMA(MM), I always love that side to Bai Shuo where she showed me she have a clean cut with CZ and when it comes to between the two she will choose Fan Yue over Chong Zhao and she made it clear and showed how Fan Yue is special to her in that sense. I always love how Drama Bai Shuo show a clear decision on who is important to her early on(so I will always appreciate this change done in the drama). It doesn't matter to me if this hurts Chong Zhao in the process because he is not going to be endgame with her anyway so its better he gets a wake up slap earlier rather than later.
Depends on what you mean by "weak"... there are other drama in MDL that got more than 8.6 but I don't see it deserves…
I just felt like there's no point elaborating on the "strong" part because it feels like we share different viewpoints about this judging by your replies and I will just end up repeating myself on my side here.
For me, I don't see Fan Yue as weak because he has proven to me he is strong and others is afraid of him like this was shown in the drama MM, just because you see those characters as insignificant for you to care doesn't negate that he does give off this fear for the other characters who is afraid of him(Fan Yue), and those who didn't want to get on his bad side.
Yes, Fan Yue is portrayed differently to DFQC, this is why I said he is Fan Yue, not DFQC.
If I am going to add to this, my advice to you is, instead of seeing FY as a domineering character, try to see this in another light because, it is not very often where we see a pairing being 'equals' where they go through every obstacles together as equals. This is the beauty to MM for me, because I love a story and find it refreshing where it shows a pairing being equals, equal give and takes and equal in power. Both FY and BS have this, but you will need to watch this as a whole to understand the story and what is being shown to you later.
But if you are someone who only loves domineering characters than MM is not for you.
However if you are someone who is open for other character types than you can continue watching it and see how the plot unfolds for you later. For me, Fan Yue is a very loveable and interesting character (after watching the drama as a whole) and I don't agree with people who don't like him or find him boring, but ofcourse... everyone is different so..
I felt that Fan Yue's role was slowly shifted to the periphery of limelight in the tv show and Bai Shuo was in…
I am only up to chapter 56 in the novel, but Fan Yue in the novel is shown to be stronger than Bai Shuo so he have more chance to display his power in the novel. As Fan Yue, he was also referred to as the "Demi God" status in the novel but during his time as Fan Yue, it was Tian Qi's tribulation because of "something" that happened when he was trying to revive Yuemi, which she is the high goddess form of Bai Shuo.
Tian Qi in the novel is more stronger than Yuemi due to Tian Qi is among the True Gods.
The drama MM still kept some of those scenes in the novel despite these changes made. In the drama, it just focus more of Fan Yue and Bai Shuo being equals whereas in the novel, Tian Qi/Fan Yue is stronger than Yuemi/Bai Shuo. So there is that power scale of difference here.
Personally for me after having read the novel, the changes (for the most part), which includes Bai Shuo and Tian Qi's character(in his backstory), this change was done better in the drama Moonlight Mystique for me.
I love how in the drama Bai Shuo have a more clean cut and knows what she wants in the drama when compared to the Novel Bai Shuo. So it really just depends on which version appeals to you more.
Tian Qi in the novel does have purple hair and purple eyes and the purple moon was referenced so looking at this Moonlight Mystique Jing Yuan follows a more accurate portrayal to his character appearance when compared to ALP Tianqi.
I personally never saw Fan Yue as weak. I just saw that how the drama made it is, they made both Fan Yue and Bai Shuo to be equals in that aspect when compared to the Novel where Bai Shuo always needs Fan Yue's protection, and Fan Yue being stronger. Like I said I am only up to chapter 56, but I am kinda on and off from reading. And they really drag on the amnesia arc which I didn't really like. During his time as Mumu despite he lost his memories as Fan Yue, he is still strong and can protect Bai Shuo though
For me, I prefer pairings to be portrayed as Equals. Equal love and Equal input, this is why how the drama did it is appealing to me in this sense. The novel still have other interesting plots that ties into the parent story, but overall, I felt like I enjoyed the changes in the drama MM more seeing I cannot put the drama down and will marathon the episodes whereas the Novel, I keep putting on hold and reading it on and off etc.
Depends on what you mean by "weak"... there are other drama in MDL that got more than 8.6 but I don't see it deserves…
I have read your reply to the other person (Moonstique), but I won't be replying to that reply since the others have already replied it and I felt like I will be repeating myself from my original comment.
Each to their own opinion about how we feel about this.
Depends on what you mean by "weak"... there are other drama in MDL that got more than 8.6 but I don't see it deserves…
Your comment about Bai Shuo saying "I want to walk my own path, you have to SHOW", FYI, Bai Shuo actions will SHOW you this when you watch on. What she said about wanting to walk her own path at least remained consistent in the story to the point that... I won't spoil the details for you, you will see when you watch on. Bai Shuo has always shown this in her actions, and this was evident later on as the story unfolds.
Also, Fan Yue doesn't need to be another DFQC to be strong. He is already strong in his own that he made a name of himself in just a few years when he cultivated and became the Demon King of the Polar Region(Bright Moon Palace), even Zhen Yu couldn't out beat him when they fought, and Zhen Yu is much older than Fan Yue too. When they were in the outlanders arc, when MJ was revealed he was from the fox clan and that his aunt is Chang Mei, which was one of the three "Demon King", there were some immortals that weren't afraid of her even when she made a name of herself. However when the other's found out that Fan Yue is the Demon King (from Bright Moon Palace), where he personally come here himself, those who said they werent afraid of one of the "Demon King"(CM) earlier all just shut up and said nothing even the arrogant immortal who said that about BS doesn't have the right to join in this competition but when it was revealed that BS was with FY, the arrogant immortal literally just shut up and didn't refute it anymore, which showed, he is afraid of FY on his end too, even when he doesn't admit it, they don't want to get on Fan Yue bad side because of how he made a name of himself and he is the most powerful among the Three Demon King. Obviously CM is a Queen not a King but you get the point in terms of title.
Just because ML (FY) doesn't seem that scary to YOU doesn't mean the others in the MM story is not afraid of him(for all said).
If you are talking about FY and DFQC gives off different aura than this is subjective to personal taste. For me personally, FY has provened to me he is strong and had shown me he is strong where he has that aura. The story wouldn't say that among the three Demon King Fan Yue is the strongest, if he isn't. If you failed to notice this than I guess that will be your loss.
So that aura is is still there, just not in the way like DFQC that you like... In MM, even the Turtle Master doesn't want to get on FY bad side, because he's scared of FY to the point that when he finally paid him a visit, he had to escape.
FY is a demon who has been through a lot which contributed to him wanting to help those demons who needs him and to me this is appealing than any DFQC, no offense to fans who loves him though but I just want to say, even when FY have those he cares about aside from BS it doesn't make him weak. As a matter of fact this is strength in its own way, whether you like it or not. Strength to protect those you love and care about. This is FY, the Demon King, not DFQC
I'm on ep13, the plot is tooooo weak to deserve 8.6 on MDL, will it get better???
Depends on what you mean by "weak"... there are other drama in MDL that got more than 8.6 but I don't see it deserves that high rating. Everyone is different.
As for MM, the plot got me hooked from the beginning, to the point I even feel attached to the side character arcs and stories because each arcs has a significant moment for those characters. The plot does get more serious and angst later on though. In the end, its depending on whether you want to continue watching it or not. I can say on my side and from those fans which I know (who watched the drama in here back then) didn't regret watching this because the journey is really worth it. Without spoiling, this is one of a kind xianxia(and I meant this in a positive note)
I'm considering watching this, can someone please tell me how this exactly relates to ALP? I've watched ALP but…
Moonlight Mystique is the drama adaptation to its Novel BSSS (Bai Shuo Shang Shen).
The Novel BSSS is the spinoff story focusing on True God Tianqi and High Goddess Yuemi which ties into the parent Novel(Shang Gu), that has a drama adaptation known as Ancient Love Poetry.
In terms of Novel side of things, it is connected, just different story focusing on different characters as the Main.
In terms of drama universe, you can take Moonlight Mystique as a 'standalone drama' since it is not connected to Ancient Love Poetry due to these changes.
Each Drama adaptation, no matter if its Ancient Love Poetry(from its Novel Shang Gu) or Moonlight Mystique(from its Novel Bai Shuo Shang Sheng) will always have these changes, this happened in all drama adaptations where they change it to fit censorship etc.
Even when Moonlight Mystique doesn't connect to ALP universe, but the drama to MM does follow some references to its novel BSSS though, despite these changes.
In the novel, Tianqi is described to have purple hair and purple eyes so MM Jing Yuan follows the appearance to the real Tianqi accurately when compared to how ALP has it in the drama.
P.S. Fan Yue, Mumu is Canon names in its novel BSSS. And in ALP, Tianqi was also known as Jing Yuan during the time he stayed in the Demon Realm after he was "killed" by Bai Jue.
So despite these changes it is up to you whether you can accept it or not, since each people is different. For me personally, I didn't mind the change to their backstory since I saw it was changed for the better(on Tianqi's side).
The other side characters got a hopeful happy ending, which is said they will come back one day. In the epilogue…
Heaven said that those who sacrificed for the great cause will be reborn but after this part she said 'they will eventually return in another way', so this is implied it will not be reincarnation as the 'only' option.
After she said that, Fan Yue was the first to come back, and it revealed he has his memories intact(as his original self), so this already hinted the others will be the same, they will eventually return, it just takes time.
Also I don't see why it was shown Bai Shuo said that about inviting them to their wedding and both Bai Shuo and Fan Yue is waiting for that day to come if they are not coming back as their original self(with their memories) because it makes no sense to me. Why would you invite someone to your wedding, if that person don't remember who you are. Both BS and FY know about this very well since they both are someone who has shown strong feelings about living on as their current identity throughout the story. So if the side characters(who made it on that list) is not themselves when they return, they will both respect that and not bother them and let them live a new life in their reincarnated self. However if they both are waiting for the others to return and even BS said that about inviting them to their wedding then ,it already strongly implied to me that they will have their memories. So this to me is another hint emphasized in the epilogue that when they come back it will be their original self and they are waiting for that time to come
So to me, I don't see it as 'unfair' like you said.... because this ending is giving a hopeful happy ending for those characters offscreen and will happen. The writers didn't need to include that in for us about the side characters and give us hope and further emphasize this point in the epilogue, but when they did, I appreciate it because it is better than NOT getting this at all. At least this ending makes sense, for me in a happy conclusive ending for the main, and hopeful happy ending for the side characters.
In the end, if you still see it as unfair... than each to their own opinion here. I appreciate we got this revelation that gives us hope instead of not getting it at all...
Just watching and Reading this now but OMG...my tears couldn't hold backπ₯Ίππ....never felt this emotional…
I know right!! This is why when I found that video and watched it, I got to share it!! It eas so emotional and heartfelt!! I got the most tear when he was leaving that message for JY and XY part ππ
This drama is so unfair to all the other characters ... not only the main couple deserved happiness.
The other side characters got a hopeful happy ending, which is said they will come back one day.
In the epilogue it further emphasize this that both Fan Yue and Bai Shuo is waiting for that day to come.
To me, what was revealed and hinted that BS is thinking about inviting them to their wedding strongly implied that those who made it on that list will come back one day with their memories intact.
So lets just appreciate that we got this from the writers instead of not getting it.
Personally for me, I love this ending for the Main and I saw it was a hopeful happy ending for the other side characters offscreen.
To me honestly, after reading the Novel, it really enhanced my love for the changes in the drama since the drama changed it to the way that fixed it from the novel that I am iffy about.

Each to their own opinion about how we feel about this.
(It is making my heart skipped a beat)

In the epilogue it further emphasize this that both Fan Yue and Bai Shuo is waiting for that day to come.
To me, what was revealed and hinted that BS is thinking about inviting them to their wedding strongly implied that those who made it on that list will come back one day with their memories intact.
So lets just appreciate that we got this from the writers instead of not getting it.
Personally for me, I love this ending for the Main and I saw it was a hopeful happy ending for the other side characters offscreen.
