Yeah I am rewatching and currently at the RX and LL arc. I love watching it again despite those scenes hurt because I want to go through the journey again now that I know the ending .

Fan Yue didn't become a star at the end. That is Jing Yuan. But how that scene was portrayed made sense when you watch that episode.

As someone who came from ALP im kinda sour on how they changed their romantic backstory coz vruh yuemi's unrequited…
You know I have been thinking that unlike the Qing Mu and Houchi situation (in ALP) where they died and lived on in Bai Jue and Shang Gu, but is it really fair for Qing Mu and Houchi though? Since this is in another sense that both Qing Mu and Houchi cannot live on as themselves(which makes them who they are) so in that sense it is similar, but just looking at the other side.
I love ALP too but I actually didn't mind they changed their back story so I just took this as standalone. What happened in Jing Yuan and Xing Yue backstory touched me. I love how he loved Xing Yue all along and it has only ever been her that he's fallen for.
Fan Yue and Bai Shuo was done differently because Jing Yuan and Xing Yue died back then, and they were reborn into Fan Yue and Bai Shuo, so that is their reincarnation. Jing Yue and Xing Yue absorbing both Fan Yue and Bai Shuo into themselve is like we are losing what we came to love (like the loss of Qing Mu and Houchi, which I will be sad again)
This is why for me in MM, despite I also love Jing Yuan and Xing Yue love story, I love that the writers made a distinct confirmation about this because Fan Yue is yes, Jing Yuan reincarnated self, but he's still Fan Yue and the only woman he ever love and never wavered is Bai Shuo, Bai Shuo felt the same as she can only love Fan Yue(which she have stated how she feels about this to TH), and Jing Yuan is the same when it comes to how he only loves Xing Yue so in the end, it shows that their love was irreplaceable and I love that. It was done in that sense where we don't have to lose what we love in Fan Yue and Bai Shuo original love for each other as "Fan Yue" and "Bai Shuo".
Sure it is sad, but if you look at this in another perspective, they still did live on in Fan Yue and Bai Shuo(in their next life) and Jing Yuan was able to join Xing Yue in the stars and be with her.

I saw that at first and I was surprised because it was similar to how episode 27 has it and if you know those implications than you surely know what episode 40 implied! 🤭🤭

I really don't understand how some people said the ending felt forced or leaves question when the writers actually explained how it can happen.
The main pairing got their happy ending and a satisfying one at that, along with a conclusive one in the special epilogue.
Yet the writers even go and hinted a hopeful outcome for the side characters that we like will return one day.
I couldn't have asked for a better ending than this and I am satisfied and happy and it did leave a smile on my face since it give me back the hope that Xianxia can have a happy and satisfying and conclusive one for our beloved pairing in the story.
I don't understand people hate for this ending aside from the fact they don't care for the main pair.

I'm sure FY wouldn't do that again since the writers have highlighted this through the way he express to what BS said when she said the wind is coming and how she was genuinely afraid that this isn't real and FY said he will use the rest of his life to prove to her that he's really back (meaning this was his way of replying to her indirectly that he won't put her through all that again).
And then in the special epilogue, he told her once again that she don't need to be afraid of the wind because he won't be going anywhere(meaning he won't leave her again)
So this is honestly the best and conclusive ending for them.
All I wanted was a happy and satisfying ending for FY and BS that puts a smile on my face when I watch it, and I got that in episode 40 ending when he came back. He didn't just stand there and both staring at each other happily when he's back like what we got in TLI but he ran up to her and hugged her where he told her he is back, and what's more is they get to share more dialogue and interactions, which makes this better than ALP ending for BJ and SG for me, because FY and BS get to share a passionate kiss that literally caught me offguard and made me 😳 and then 😍
Not to mention we got that epilogue to show their wedding, so this ending for me is really a happy, satisfying and conclusive ending, better than what I could ask for, for my favourite pairing FY and BS. I don't know how anyone(not saying you, but others I've seen in here) can bash this ending and said it isnt conclusive when looking at the main pairing here...

I am not sure what ending you are watching but MM has a conclusive ending that explained what happened.
This is Xianxia as well. Instead of getting a last second or last minute happy ending or an Open Ending, we got this which I won't spoil the details in here. Further more we even have an epilogue(special clip which gives a more satisfactory level for the main pairing.
The main pairing ending did not just stand there staring at each other, it wasn't an open ending either. They got a happy conclusive ending.
I don't know what more you want for this as from Xianxia standard they got a much better and satisfactory ending when compared to the others like.... The Blossoming Love ending which was another Xianxia drama airing at the same time.
