Me too! I actually knew or had an inkling their backstory won't connect back to ALP in MM, but I also love how the drama wrote their back story on my end.
I love the playful and funny side to Jing Yuan which I never thought I'll get to see.
I love how it was Jing Yuan who made the decision to confess to her and he was upfront with his feelings towards Xing Yue (this reminded me to his original character).
I love how it was Xing Yue who initiated to kiss Jing Yue in the past and that was such a passionate kiss too(makes me blush π³).
The only thing I didn't like about their past, if I have to say was heaven fate forbid Xing Yue from loving Jing Yuan πππ which lead to her doing what she had to do to hurt Jing Yuan πππππ
But I feel so sorry for Jing Yuan when he return since he really wants to see Xing Yue again but when he came to accept that Bai Shuo is Bai Shuo, I know it must have been hard for him since he is acknowledging that Xing Yue is no longer alive, and so he made that decision to leave ππ
I love what Jing Yuan showed me in that scene, it showed he was being selfless with how he gave the body back to Fan Yue.
I like to imagine that Jing Yuan and Xing Yue can reunite in the stars because if not, my heart goes out to Jing Yuan and Xing Yue there ππ
Xinhuan means like and Ai love its different. I also love that. Thats not same for me and even they do it right…
Yes xihuan means like, ai means love.
But in chinese drama they often like to use xihuan over ai when confessing. This is why I love that it's different in MM because they have used Ai instead.
I've said this before in here, but I cannot put emphasis on how much I really love that they used the word "ζ"(Ai) instead of "εζ‘"(Xi Huan), because I am tired of previous confessions I've seen they tend to use Xi Huan instead of Ai.
So when they use "Ai" it gives me all the feels (in that confession)!

Yeah, I also love Back from the Brink too, it was a healing to my heart after that horrendous TTEOTM for me T.T
Despite I love Back from the Brink, I didn't like the part when Tian Yao have to take back the HPS and hurted Yanhui in the process :( I mean from writing perspective, I get why the writers took that path (for the later developments that we came to love), but from an emotional perspective, I don't really like or agree with it.
This is why for me MM is better in this sense because from start to finish the Main pairing: Fan Yue and Bai Shuo, they have that mutual understanding of each other, and they actually sit down and communicate and share these thoughts together. This is so refreshing to see for a Xianxia genre instead of reusing the not talk-lead to misunderstanding trope.
