The adaptation in the drama for ALP Xuanyi and TLI Xuanyi(name changed to Mingqi in TLI) is not the same portrayal.
In TLI, he was the one who was trapped in the DevilRealm, the one who also saved Yuanqi at the end.
Someone made a comment saying that at the end of TLI, Ming Qi said that he wants to go through this "mortal tribulation" to experience the hardships of these tribulation to understand it better.
But I dont know if MM will tie to TLI or not. I think there will be changes but others say that CZ character is Xuanyi's reincarnation.
I don't want to spoil the episode number, that episode is already out but you should just watch the episodes in order that played up to that scene to make it more impactful.

If this is going to tie back to the parent story(ALP), I am basing this from the drama to ALP, not the novel since I didn't read the novel.
Mo Li (which his original name is Xuanyi) was the original Chief God, who rebelled against the God Realm when he found out his fate/destiny to sacrifice himself for the peace for the three realms. When he rebelled against the God Realm, he turned to the Devil Side (where he is then regarded as the Devil God). He was the one who brought the war against the God realm, and if this Ancient War was during the time just after Shang Gu sacrificed herself, then it was Bai Jue(God of War) who defeated Xuan Yi and bring the end to this Ancient War. There was a lot of sacrifices in this war. Zhi Yang (who he is among another True God) and other gods had fallen into a state of slumber, where they used their powers to protect what was left of the God Realm, and from then on, the God Realm was closed off, that is until the end of ALP where Shang Gu returns to reopen the God Realm again.
But I think in the drama to MM they will make some slight changes to this since it looks like it will be Xing Yue(Yuemi) being the one who killed Mo Li(evil Xuanyi), judging by the spoiled clips and she might have "died" in that process.
In ALP, Yuemi death was due to a different reason though.

The Character portrayal of Xuan Yi is different in ALP and TLI.
In the ALP, he was evil, and he was the Devil God that defied his "destiny" and didn't want to sacrifice himself for the peace of the Three Realms, that is why he rebelled when he found out his fate. His decision is so different to Shang Gu when she found out her destiny of being a "Chief God". Shang Gu chose to accept it to bring peace to the three realms.
In TLI, he was known as Ming Qi which was trapped in the "Devil Realm", and, but I don't really see his character as Evil in this version, since he's more of a "Grey" character in this one. But he did play a big part in bring Yuan Qi back to life, even when he doesn't need to on his end and I personally love him for that.
I think it is Mo Li which is CZ in this life time(as its reincarnation) that is also why ZY hesitated in killing CZ in that moment. Well if people speculation is right about CZ being his reincarnation that is.
When I saw that scene and what ZY was saying all that to the mysterious figure in the mirror and the vision in the mirror filled with that evil aura, my mind was immediately thinking of Mo Li(evil Xuanyi).
When FY saved BX, he injected his power into her, making her special. Meanwhile, BS has always been human, there…
I think in that scene, BS is still special in that sense because when Jingyuan erased their memory of that moment that happened, BS was the only one who remembered what happened that night.
So that to me shows she has some hidden power inside her from XY that have not yet been awakened.

Xuan Yi (which I think his name is Mo Li) is known as the Devil God.
In TLI he is known as Ming Qi in the drama.
