ML is covering up that his ex has appeared child in tow. FL finds out not by him just telling her first in ep 17. He also expresses sympathy for her because she is a single mother and she is helping his father. This of course makes things worse, ML is an idiot who has lost sight of boundaries.

Yes, I understand this has been the culture but it is then no surprise when the kids just refuse or postpone marriage (and children) altogether. These older folks can and will suffer as the birthrate is dropping rapidly which coupled with the lack of economic growth is leading to a lack of support structure for those over 65.
