I love how for once the second ML in a sageuk ain't some happy go-lucky aristocrat, secretly simping for the FL lol. Deok Ro is calculating, ambitious to the point of no return and totally obsessed about Yi San.
As we see his 'villain origin' story unfold, and finally lifelong dreams/ ambitions come true when Yi San takes the throne, Deok Ro's actions can no longer be tolerated. He is thrown out of the palace. He's an absolute ass, but I still can't help but find this heartbreaking especially for Yi San. It really does get lonely on the throne right?
Perhaps it could be argued that Yi San was naive or shouldn't have let Deok Ro go so far. But they've been longtime companions in the palace and sometimes as a friend, you accept for what they are. It's just a shame that Deok Ro's greed got the better of him to see this.
This is one of the most engaging sageuks I've watched lately! Palace politics aren't groundbreaking but the way this story is being told with a 🌟 cast is so refreshing for me. It's tugging my heartstrings- only started today and halfway through!
Just got onto Ep14 and sadly this is one of the slowest corruption reveals I've probably ever watched! I agree…
I don't think it's a heavily legal drama like Law School, Lawless Layer or The Good Detective, Hyena and The Devil Judge (to name a few!)
It's more of an 'elite school caught up in corruption' and the leads will try to uncover it. So it has similar themes to Angry Mom, My Strange Hero and School 2017.
If you're looking for more of a thriller/ mystery feel in a school setting, I suggest Class of Lies and Solomon's Perjury.
Sassy Go Go and Seonam Girls High School Investigators are lighter but still carry heavyweight stories and criticisms about the school system.
Just as predicted, the drama starts going downgill from the 13th episode. The way everything comes out to the…

same Dan Sol in past life looked so beautiful same in this life, well GSY is so pretty.....also I feel more chemistry…
Agreed! I loved GSY in Are You Human Too? and she’s so stunning with a historical or modern day look 🥰 I’m not convinced yet that Hwal and SW were past lovers but just like you I have a GSY bias lol.
Also I can’t imagine Hwal falling for SW because he is seeking atonement for his family that he felt he was at fault for their deaths. He’s not forgotten them or DS and been carrying such complicated feelings and regret for so long!
Even though I knew it was coming, I still got goosebumps when Hwal finally saw Dan Sol reincarnated as Sang Woon’s little sister!! What a twist of fate and it was beautifully done!
Slowly catching up on this (on Ep10) and I can't wait to see justice arrive for our leads!
School corruption/ politics isn't groundbreaking but Jin Kyung is killing it as the corrupt school administrator. She's so good in it, that I forget I'm used to seeing not being the bad guy lol.
I do find it refreshing that the light 'romance' is not something we've seen before. It's the meeting of two intellectual minds and how a meaningful bond grows slowly and subtly. Makes a change that it's not the typical 'swoon' cliches we've seen so much before.
I think it's a decent one-off series and especially if you've liked the cast in other series, it's worth checking out. The sci-fi stuff is up for debate, but it didn't detract the sense of space/ adventure I got during the watch.
Yes he's saved but they didn't try to even explain how it happened lol. We assume that Luna saved him.
Yeah it kinda alluded that maybe his life support system was failing, but 30 seconds later it looks like they get rescued. It's one of those weird 'open' endings aha

Aha that's fair about your preferred dramas! If you liked SH, it might be worth checking out Inspector Koo if you haven't already ☺️
