I think “fool” is a poor translation. I think they were expressing concerns about the memory loss / potential…
傻子 (Shǎzi) It's a correct translation haha they’re really calling him Fool, but not 'stupid' (白痴 Báichī) which actually means stupid in a harshly insulting way.

Ep 17 Finally Zang Hai is a 5th Rank official now! there's a "Zang Residence" from now on!! What an Irony of fate, the person who killed his father the imperial Astronomer, is the same person who recommended him to the Emperor for this position of Imperial Astronomer. i like these themes of the plot when what goes around usually comes around.

If you drop,that's totally fine & your choice...i just want to add i was on the verge of dropping at ep 10 too...but it really got A LOT better from ep 11, it'd be better if you at least Try ep 11-16 before deciding.
About the incense killing plan,that was a moment of impulsive act of him,after all he was too devastated when he saw his parent's remains kept as souvenirs in Marquis's secret room..he wasn’t trained to become an assassin to secretly kill his enemies, he trained to be an executioner who put an end to his enemies' reputation,career & life and reveal the actual cause of his family's massacre, clearing his Father's name.... as far i know he never directly did any killing on his own , either others did the killings or the bad guys got trapped in his plan on their own... there are really good fighting scenes later but zang hai Himself don't do martial arts. His pathway of revenge is a game of wit.
I haven’t done watching yet but after ep 11 I'm intrigued with the drama Now, if you wish for ML to fight his enemies physically, it'd be a letdown for you for sure.but if you watch till 15/16, you might start to discover the actual brilliance of the plot. :)
