They made it in such a way that Shiyi didn't see him at the airport when they were both being checked, she was busy with her own checking. but as soon as she heard his name she ran to him. So yeah it's not as dramatic as recognising a man with a different face but same soul (I'm still upset that keeping the same leads obliterated the most significant moment of the story), but it still works.
In a later episode she thinks "this is the kind of thing he would say". It's a subtle insertion that she remembers ZCS from her past life. Another's insertion is Shiyi remembers falling from Xian City gate, she dislikes red & cries whenever she's dubbing her drama about Cui Shiyi & Xiao Nanchen Wang.
They don't come out & explicitly say it, but shiyi's pick up lines like do you believe in reincarnation? we knew each other in past life etc point very strongly that the reincarnation plot hasn't been hidden.
They've just made it a script shiyi is working on, so she can think about it freely. After all censors can't censor an artists imagination can they?
Only BL and RJL are cast in the modern drama. In the novel, modern ZSC has a completely different face as well…
I think in the novel Shiyi has a different face as well, because she's described as ordinarily pretty in the past, but drop dead gorgeous & stunning in modern times.

We can learn how to handle the ugly side of real life & it's complex relationships from her. She's truly aspirational imo. A successful career woman who doesn't need to bow down to trophy wives because she's secure in her worth & sense of self.
I felt compelled to raise my rating to 10 despite not being super into the show this year, because I appreciate the mastery of it & can't stand trolls bringing it down.

It's not that MM's superpower is electricity, it's that he's doom personified so everything malfunctions around him. He brings destruction to the world with his existence & actions, therefore short circuits & flickering lights are the smallest visible effect of that when he isn't even trying to do anything.

TDK miraculously lives & doesn't wish doom on the world, so MM dies. However Sick diety already said that they (she & MM) cropped up in the world because the people in it needed them & called for them, therefore the solution will be that even if MM dies, he'll be reborn because the world needs bad to balance the good. People wish ill on others more often than they wish good, so ofc he'll be back.Conversely if these deities said that things exist in the world because people living in it ask for them, it bodes possibility that MM could be reborn without being doom because TDK wished for it.
