The IG stories Jang Nara has shared while filming "Family: The Unbreakable Bond" showing her Kang Yoo Ra visuals made it seem like the character is someone gentle. Haha. Boy, was I deceived! đ
I'm on the part about FIVE OCEANS and the name Park Soon Ja sounds too darn familiar; was this case featured on Through the Darkness or Brain Works? Or if not, can someone please help me connect this case with a Korean crime drama which featured a similar case?
Who is the actor that passed away who was part of this dramaâs cast?
Oh. Thanks. Itâs unfortunate that he was one of the casualties of the Itaewon Tragedy. It was kind of MBC to release a tribute video. Thanks for sharing.
Not a spoiler but some deep insight on the drama. Hope this doesn't bore or annoy you. Haha. â
My take on this is that watching this drama from a wider perspective and not focusing on the small flawed details will make you appreciate the story more.
The title "êŒëì êłì " has been translated as "Kkokdu: Season of Deity" for its title English. But it could simply be read as "Kkokdu's Gye Jeol" which, for me, simply means that from the start until the end, whether it be "Oh Hyun", "Do Jin Woo" or "Kkokdu", he will always have "Seol Hee" or "Gye Jeol" in his heart (and it doesn't even matter if his mind remembers her face or not). And the fate that awaits them every reincarnation is not death but the love that draws them to each other. I am not talking about the boy meets girl and they fall in love then get married kind of love. The love I am talking about here is the love that you have clearly described above.
The kind of love that withstands the test of time. Or in this case, the test of seasons. The kind of love that unfolds (not just happens in a snap), that grows (not immediately grand in appearance) and remains (does not easily gives up and leaves).
To what can we compare that love? I could describe it as a tree.
From a sapling a tree grows. And when the tree grows into its full form, it withstands every season: summer, fall and winter; and appears like a new creation when spring comes. All the while, it seems like the love between Oh Hyun and Seol Hee is a cycle of summer, fall and winter, but not spring. How come? Probably because the love inside Oh Hyun became stubborn rage against the deity and the extreme coldness and extreme heat of the underworld made it seem like spring would never come. But his 99 years on earth is not simply an added punishment, it also serves like a bridge that could either lead him to another cycle of summer, fall and winter or to a new spring which comes from a faithful and courageous love.
"I love you."
Seol Hee/Gye Jeol bravely saying these words despite knowing that Kkokdu might die (assuming that the "peace" that "will come" means death) was spoken from a heart that loved from the beginning and a heart that is willing to love until the end.
Oh Hyun died in front of a tree in full bloom. Oh Hyun became Kkokdu and lived in the underworld beside a tree that gradually dried up.
Will we see that tree filled with life once again? Only one episode left and we'll find out.
(I feel like I just wrote gibberish. I hope it somehow makes sense. Haha.)
Looks like thereâll be a Season 2. That would be nice but is there a demand? Anyway, I enjoyed the show. If youâre having doubts watching this show, I recommend you watch it for the cases and the trivia, actors come second.
Just watched episode 15. I saw some loopholes coming (tracker inside the pocket of a jacket that could be easily left behind or given away, prisoner patient not cuffed to hospital bed) and âhuh?!â for the guards who did hear the windows glasses breaking. I am just glad to confirm that Haru did not kill his own parents.
Before coming here, i thought this comment section is full of praises for kim jung hyun's acting. I just forgot…
when I saw him in Mr. Queen, I wondered why he was given a lead role when he isnât a flower boy kind of actor (his role in Waikiki, though a main role too doesnât âdemandâ a flower boy face because itâs not romcom) and the drama is romcom. After watching the 16 episodes of MQ I finally knew why. And he IS lead role material. He is his own kind of handsome but not all would recognize that unless they stop comparing his looks to other actors.
I do hope this ends up sounding the way I intend it to be: a compliment.
episode 9 both broke my heart and made me laugh a ton. FL under hypnosis was so sad and touching, the writers…
I especially liked that HGJ hypnosis part too. As someone who likes to keep my thoughts to myself and is not fond of getting drunk (which results to drunk talking), that hypnosis thing could be cathartic (at least for my unconscious self).
Seriously Iâm not satisfied with the ML ending. I feel like he is stillUnhappy. He asked her out to dinner a…
Eun Beom asking Ha Ra about her schedule, I actually thought he was thinking of asking her to accompany him to therapy (not necessarily during session but for moral support). Him taking care of his nephew and niece could also be a hint of him considering having children but there was no chance find out since the story ended already.
It seems that the question âCan we be strangers again?â was a question for the viewers and itâs up to us to think if that is possible. But that is a really lame way to end their story. Itâs like they wonât give us tragedy but they wonât give us a happy ending either. Ugh.
That phone call Eun Beom heard unintentionally, it was never addressed. It could have cleared a really big misunderstanding and, although it might not lead them to get back together, Eun Beom might have been more at peace, knowing that Ha Ra did not really have an intention of âwrapping things upâ between them.
I also would have preferred EB telling the therapist that his reason for seeking counseling is his mother basically and Ha Ra is additional. I mean healing the mom-son relationship is not something that happens overnight.
In the end, I only would want to see Eun Beom happy with his choices, with his life. Ha Ra seems to be someone who could carry on better between the two, but I wonât say she doesnât have her own share of pain.
Overall, I liked how realistic this drama was in dealing with different kinds of relationships. However, I also think that the actors shone better in their other dramas.

And that is why back in college my favorite major subject is abnormal psychology. >.<
