There are rumor that tencent will only paid actors depend on how popular their drama is. If it a flop they only…
To be fair, it's pretty normal practice to pay more popular actors more money pretty much everywhere. This just seems like a different way to do the same thing. Sucks that the actor has to depend on external factors such as writing and directing quality as well as marketing and quality of cast for their salary tho

Eunji never really appealed to me as an actress or even as an idol. She is very talented indeed but she just wasn't…
Honestly was the case for me with (don't kill me ahah) Jung So Min until I watched Alchemy of Souls. My first drama with JSM was Because This is My First Life and I HATED that drama, and I ended up disliking her as well. Then watched Alchemy of Souls and fell in love with her acting. I'm in the same boat with Eun Ji atm since I watched reply 1997 and didn't like it at all, but this drama seems so fun!

keeping him alive is more important, he needs to be alive in the first place to have any kind of love life...…
yeah I know and I don’t blame her at all... it’s just really sad to watch him get hurt because he doesn’t understand why she’s doing it. imagine the girl you were in love with first confessed her love to you and wouldn’t leave you alone but then proceeded to push you away and pretend not to know you, only to come running back to you a week later. poor guy must be losing his mind

Them not trying to hide the problems in Korea is great, and for sure there is a message about it in this drama.…
It's entirely possible we had different interpretations of the show. I didn't appreciate the tone with which the message was delivered and some of the nuanced ways I felt it was blaming the victim. Totally okay if you don't see it that way.

No you're so right haha. I really hate how picky I've become over the years, I wish I was more easily entertained dang it!

8.1 seems about right. They didn't do anything all that offensive regarding some storytelling plot points people…
As someone who has loved dramas rated as low as 7.6 and hated dramas rated as high as 9.2, I can agree to some level, but I still notice a pattern where I tend to like the higher rated dramas more IN GENERAL, so I don't think we should disregard the rating system. Although granted it has become quite unreliable in recent years here on MDL because hyped shows get rated much higher even if they don't have the quality to deserve it. 8.1 for me personally has always been an iffy rating and I tend to not like dramas if they are rated 8.1, which is why I wouldn't call it a good rating. Always room for disagreement though and that is A-okay

I don't get it where this 8.1 rating comes from, this was such a dragged mess and the most boring final episode…
8.1 seems about right. They didn't do anything all that offensive regarding some storytelling plot points people love to dog on. I don't really regard 8.1 as a "good" rating personally. More like "generally people think this one is okay but you could end up liking it"

Yeah I used to read Lookism all the time a few years back but haven't revisited in a while because all the gang stuff went way too far. I was really into the fantasy elements and the bullying/school violence stuff so I got quite bored with it later on.

I don't know if you've read that Webtoon but this one gives me Lookism vibes. Seems like kdramas are going in the direction of school thrillers a bit lately so I really hope that one is next to get a proper remake (I think they made something already but it was bad?)

cliffhanger? :(( I'm okay with open endings, I just don't like cliffhangers so I'm hesitating to start this one until I know for sure.

I'm noticing a pattern where cdramas are generally way overhyped on this platform. I will not even touch a cdrama rated below 8.7 on here because I haven't had good expereinces. Kdramas seem to be a bit more lower rated and yet higher quality. So weird...

I don't disagree, I've had a blast watching part 1. I just can't stop thinking about Lee Sun Kyun when I watch it... feels almost insulting the way they seem to be blaming the suicide victim quite a bit. I mean yes, it's encouraging to make sure your viewers realize that there's people that care about them and that suicide is not the answer, but it almost makes the ML look like a piece of shit for doing what he did. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the commentary here.
