Yep... 2021 and I still love this drama, Queen In-hyun's Man. One of the best romantic performances by Ji Hyun-woo and Yoo In-na. Then again, they were dating each other back then... it could explain why their chemistry and synergy were so in-sync.
*Side Note: That original 2012 Korean version far-surpassed the 2015 Chinese version, Love Through a Millennium.
The Korean version far surpassed this Chinese version. First, 12 or 24 episodes are way too long for the storyline. By episode 9, aside that they decided to use the worst voice double ever on the female lead... Instead of seeing the female lead in a more likable way as the storyline progressed; her character became more and more babyish, childish, annoying and self-absorbed. Second, although handsome and somehow believable as an actor; this Chinese version of the male lead is not as mysterious, capable, intelligent and époustouflant in the department of Martial Art fighting skills... Compared to the Korean counterpart.
*After watching this, I have to rewatch the Korean version one, once more - Queen and I aka, Queen In Hyun's Man... Just to make sure that it was not as average as this Chinese version.
Yes he is so manly, the actor more manly i've seen in Cdrama. The sexiest wolf of century's 21.
This is how I do my evaluation and I try to be as objective, as much as I can.
Darren Wang and a truckload of other young actors could have easily played the XZ’s character in The Wolf. However, there is not an universe where XZ could have played or mastered that Darren’s complexed character in The Wolf.
As for Chinese beauty standards... Or even further, Asian beauty standards... They are incredibly unrealistic and unnatural. Hence, Chang Chen, Chen Kun, Wallace Chung, Zhou Yi Wei and Darren Wang... I very much appreciate their natural and their every-day-normal-human looks. Hahaha:)

Right now, in the Asian film industry, there is a surplus of fair pearly skinned flower-boy actors who somewhat are capable at memorizing a script.
Although he is part of that same age group, Darren Wang certainly showed us that he can do a lot more than just memorizing lines... It is very interesting to see a young actor like him, capable of exuding such manliness, virility and robustness on cameras... As if he was already part of that selective group of actors... Such as, Chang Chen, Chen Kun, Wallace Chung and Zhou Yi Wei.
Stunning cinematography, stunning costumes, great acting... this is an excellent start. I am craving for more…
I love Zhang Zi Yi; I am excited to watch her in a televised drama. But I have to admit that I will be watching this whole drama solely for Zhou Yi Wei. The few number of episodes that I have already watched only had few scenes with Zhou Yi Wei in them; regardless, they were enough to capture my full attention.
*I was like, “Finally, a general who looks like a general.”
This drama is so good. For once, we're watching REAL actors instead of flower boys and girls. The story is intriguing.…
My main complaint is with the average quality of the choreographic fighting sequences. With the caliber of these veteran actors and actresses, they should have been better choreographed.
I like this drama so far though it started slightly slow for me but it's alright. Zhang Zi Yi is indeed a great…
Hmmmmm... This is exactly how I picture a virile ancient-time General in my head. You perfectly described that scene in General and I... When the general reunites with his wife after 4 years:o
Decent acting with beautiful set design. The war scenes are very average though. The story is well paced and not…
That is true. I was expecting much better fighting scenes... If they had enough budget for this expensive veteran cast, they should have had enough budget for better choreographic fighting sequences or better stunt doubles.
Zhou Yi Wei is the first convincing fierce general I have seen cast... not one of those too pretty dudes who obviously…
Yes, Lord Bo was a general through and through. I wish they had included more battlefields’ fighting scenes in The Wolf.
*I loved that his character was not one of those stereotypical fair-skinned flower-boys.
How could a man (a general, for that matter...) who spent his whole life on a battlefield, under the sun and drenched in blood... be and look as delicate as a sheltered pearly-skinned noble young girl? Ridiculous...

I have not seen that many actors who are unmistakably fitted for those grand general roles. - Song Il-kook is on that list for his 2 commanding character’s depictions in Jumong and in The Kingdom of the Winds. - Wallace Chung is on that same list for his general’s depiction in the General and I. - Now, Zhou Yi Wei just joined that list.
*The rest of them are just pretty-flower boys in shining armors. I like dark characters, like Lord Bo from The Wolf, who actually look that they have been on a battlefield.
After a few episodes, I am actually enjoying the storyline. I have to admit this is a very interesting choice of casting... - Not the youngest cast... Nor the best looking cast around... - I love Zhang Zi Yi... Always have but it is certainly weird watching her playing a young girl...
*I am more interested in the general Xiao Qi’s character and his entourage. Regardless of his age group, Zhou Yi Wei looks very dashing and very fitting as a general. *Also, the exiting OST is really nice.

I keep on telling myself that I have to wait for the whole series to be over but it is so hard to wait!

No pretty fair skinned flower-boy here.
Zhou Yi Wei is all MAN!!!
Lol
I listed them with a cold glass of ice water in my hand!!!
I might also need a cold shower, as well...
I love a long, well developed and well constructed historical drama.
Before Nirvana in Fire... There was Jumong...
*They don’t make masterpieces like these, anymore.
*I was so mad that The Kingdom of the Winds was only 36 episodes.
But I have to admit that I will be watching this whole drama solely for Zhou Yi Wei.

We don’t have to love their characters but got to love their performances.

Ridiculous...
The fact that The Untamed managed to pass through all the ridiculous Chinese censorships was already a fluke...
