At this point,
I am so impervious to bad subs that I would be able to read and understand; even if, Egyptian hieroglyphs were added to them.

As for those annoying product placements...
It is a common practice in Asian dramas; it can not be avoided. They have managed to display a product placement in the “General and I.”
A historical Wuxia drama... Yes, they can not be avoided.

Even though I knew this was going to make me cry....still watched it.I wish so so so much that the writers would…
The Wolf is one of those unique dramas where it is obvious there is a lot missing, in terms of montage.
However, it is still strangely good.

I would love to watch the original, untouched version without all the last 3 years of changes.

Well, this drama was supposed to air in 2017, they filmed it, and then was postponed till 2020 because of censorship...…
The changes made throughout the last 3 years of hibernation were so obvious.
Not just because of Chinese restrictions and censorships...
Changes made because of the overwhelmingly increasing popularity of some specific individuals were also pretty obvious...

Deserving is to put it simply...
Too simply...
I am sensing a large number of those viewers who cannot fully comprehend the complexity of that character is from the younger demography.

In this case, a reasonable level of maturity is needed; in order, to appreciate the psychological undertaking.

If there is a Chinese cinematographic award for “The Best Character Portrayal”
Darren Wang won it, hands down for 2020.

I've watched all the episodes and I wonder why some people say the characters are led wrong? For me, it's a great…
It was not the greatest drama but it was the best psychological profile of a complexed character that I have ever seen in a drama.

Not everything is black and white; sometimes, there is a multitude of intricate shades of gray.

Our FL's lack of military bearing is most curious too. If you've seen OH MY GENERAL or LOVE LOST IN TIMES, both…
Jin Han is one of my top favorite actors out-there.
Unfortunately, he is largely underrated and overlooked.

Well, I am only watching this for him and hopefully I will persevere and finish it (I do find their romance boring).

Our FL's lack of military bearing is most curious too. If you've seen OH MY GENERAL or LOVE LOST IN TIMES, both…
Wow!!!
Exactly my thoughts.

As a supposedly strong female character:
I think she became a general because everyone else died...
She was relying on some 8 years old gossip materials to accomplish her mission.
Girl is definitely lacking in the cognitive skills’ department.
She might a be general but she is no Mulan.

As a veteran actress:
There's no other way to put it...
Sun Yi is a flat actress, in every sense of the word.
Literally and figuratively.
She plays that same persona in every single project; she is in. However good, great or formidable; her co-leading actors might be... She is always flat... No substance... No depth...

How she manages to lend those leading roles... Is beyond me.
I really do mean no disrespect. It is a personal observation after watching her in multiple projects.

It seems liQin told in an interview that she felt uncomfortable kissing darren because of his big lips. Is it…
The way I see it.
She is the one with the teeny-tiny-macroscopic lips...
Hahaha

Darren Wang’s voluptuous lips should be put on display at Madame Tussauds museums.

I would gladly wiggle inside of that can of worms with you.

I, for one, thought Darren Wang’s performance was undeniably stunning.
There were a multitude of intricate facets to the Chu You Wen/Lord Bo character.
Darren Wang knocked it out of the park.
Without saying many words; his pain, his cruelty, his aggressiveness, his viciousness and his profound love resonated and emitted throughout and from his entire person.
And that is an extraordinary feat for an actor to accomplish; while, wearing a perpetual impenetrable stoic face.
It felt if I had blinked just once, I would have missed something...

I do agree that the Ji Chong character could have been played by anyone. His presence didn’t really affect the substance of the drama.

I have to be very careful not to be extremely biased here because Yeo Gin Goo, Kim Yoo-jung and Nam Da-reum were and are my 3 favorite Korean kid-actors and actress.
So anything these 3 are in, I tend to loose all my objectivity.
With that in mind, I think none could have played the character of King Lee Hoon and Ha Sun as perfect as Yeo Gin Goo did.
I have seen the original movie, Masquerade with Lee Byung-hun. As expected, it was great; Yeo Gin Goo most certainly did the original movie version justice.

Darren Wang just blew my mind... and other things...
This actor has virility to sale... to share... to donate...;)
To say that he was ON FIRE in The Wolf; does not quite describe completely the depiction of the Chu You Wen/Lord Bo character.

I have some complexed emotions about this drama.
It is not the greatest drama.
Some episodes had questionable directions and bizarre writing; however good grief, it was damn good.
The characters’ complexities were enticing.
The musical selections were on point.

Absolutely love this drama however I am increasingly disliking the FL she is so immature, annoying and makes so…
Strangely, for a Wuxia drama titled with his name on it; I don’t think that Darren Wang got enough screen-times in it.
However, the fewer numbers of the screen-time he got... He took them and ran the hell of with them...

He is definitely one of my new and few discoveries of 2020.
And definitely, a new favorite of mine.

Too bad, it took them 3 years to release it. The other 2 leads got so much more popular during that long wait.
I wonder if it was intentionally done that way?

For some unknown reasons, although not the best montage, this drama... this storyline... Bo’s storyline (more specifically)...
Hurts me to the core.

I understand that they can not be together and I actually do not want them to be together.
ZX got her first kiss or smooch from another man...
She got married to another man...
Her first sleep together was with another man...
In Wuxia and Xianxia dramas, these are decisive lines that I want only the male love interest to cross. Once they have been crossed by another man, I am no longer interested in that female lead.

However, it hurts so damn much to watch Bo.
More so, because he has to keep everything and I mean EVERYTHING deep down inside.
Therefore, he has to wear a perpetual and an impenetrable stoic face.

This kid was literally perfect for the role.

Check out Wolf (2020).
After 3 years of a long waiting, it is finally released.

The CGIs are to be desired but the storyline and the general acting are stunning.

I swear sometimes, it seems some specific roles and characters were specifically written for a specific actor or actress...
We witnessed that with:
- Hu Ge in Nirvana In Fire 1
- Arthur Chen in Ever Nigh 1
- Cheng Yi in Love and Redemption
- Yoo Ah-in in Six Flying Dragons
- And now, with Darren Wang in Wolf (2020)
