No I haven’t watched it yet.
It is to be expected. The productions always do that when they first go international.
The only korean actor who got his first international big break with his own movie… As I can recall.
Was Rain in “Ninja Assassin.”

It is definitely a good problem to have🤣😂🤣😂.
I watched his most current project on Netf$$$.
Got to say that I need a second season to make an opinion about it.
It was more of an amuse bouche… more than anything.
He is very selective about his projects.

“Scent of Time”
Similar premise.
Absolutely exquisite writing and formidable performance by the FL until episode 22…
Then the rest can be considered very subjective to the viewer watching it.
I still think it is a better production than this one.

And sometimes, a different point of view might just lead you to a bigger picture.
That had happened to me from time to time…
Example:
I hated “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth” when it first came out. Watched the entire series but hated it the first time. Gave it a second chance a year or so later… Because of different viewers’ opinions.
And that Sageuk has become one of my Korean’s favorites.
I still don’t understand why I absolutely hated it the first time that I watched it.

My point is… The world would be narrower and a darned boring place if everyone shares only one single opinion.

First time, I watched her was in “Word of Honor…”
Truthfully, I didn’t like her acting back then but she started to win me over in “Back from the Brink.”
Then “Scent of Time” came… I am sold.

For me, this was a 7.5/10 rating.
Interesting storyline.
Questionable montage.
Confusing ML.
Ambiguous FL.
Main leads’ romance not convincing at all (Probably because the writers and screenwriters took their sweet time to start it).
Favorite characters: Yan Lin and his father.

FYI:
I got bored to sleep with WRTW - Dropped it
I loved Sweet Home season 1 and was very disappointed by the second season.
Opinions are indeed subjective and there is absolutely no reason to attack someone else’s opinions because they differ from our own.

It is crazy how well written it is…
Well at least, until episode 22.
They didn’t have the high production budget of TSOKP but they put their heart and soul in most of the writing.
And the casting was splendid.

I am loving Zhou Ye’s acting lately.
That young actress have shown so much growth and development in her craft.
It is incredible.

Well!
That was one unnecessary last episode.
They should have stopped the entire drama at episode 29.
Episode 30 has cheapen the experience for me.
Great writing until episode 22 then the writers decided… Let us ruin a great thing.

Nonetheless, “Scent of Time” is so much better than “Story of Kunning Palace (2023).’
By episode 3, I already wanted to drop “Story of Kunning Palace” because it was a hot mess. It was difficult to like any of the characters, except the uncle and the nephew.
I really felt that the FL in “Scent of Time” was genuinely looking for redemption, working towards it and her character was darned intelligent (Whether she was in a comatose dream state or not…).

Why “Scent of Time” has a lower rating than the latter?

Maybe because:
- The bodyguard, Hua Rong Zhou, should have been the ML not the over-pompous Lord.
- The so-called romance between the FL and the Lord was uncomfortable to watch.
- The great writing started derailing at episode 22.
- Episode 30 was completely and utterly unnecessary.

In any case, this drama is grossly underrated.

Yes, it was the pear blossom version.
I also felt that Shua Su got away with all of her BS way too easy. Wished the phoenix queen had snatched her feathers like the fox queen did to that wrench’s stolen eyes in 10 miles of peach blossoms.

Indeed, Rosy Zhao was fabulous in that role.
She has come a long way from her old days in “Love Better Than Immortality.”
So proud of her.
I love a strong, independent, not annoying and not arrogant female lead character. Same type of FL character from “A Journey to Love.”
Even the supporting cast really did a good job.
I never favor love rival/triangle or whatnot…
However in this one, I never got annoyed by the fox demon character. Also the eagle immortal was so matured about her unrequited love for him.
Very good writing.

I can’t give it a 9.0 but definitely an 8.3 for the FL, the supporting cast and the writing.
I do concur with the current rating.

And that makes him one thousand and 200+ years old useless true god.

But seriously, most of us didn’t watch this Xianxia because of the ML.
But because the FL was fantastic, the supporting cast did a great job and the storyline was interesting.

I just blocked out the idiotic ML.

From episode 1 to episode 40.
He never really grew up.
He just became a true god and gained more powers due to his bloodline.
That idiot never really showed any growth of character.
