Chinese Xianxia, Wuxia and Xuanhuan dramas are simply killing it, this year. They are giving us no time to breathe... 2021 is a good year for DramaLand.
This action/comedy thriller had everything... From the ridiculousness of La Commedia dell'arte (Italian Slapstick Comedy; which was undeniably appropriate for Vincenzo’s background) to the cold bone-chilling and straightforward seriousness of an Italian vendetta (Korean style). A very well executed production.
*Song Joong Ki and Kwak Dong Yeon nailed their respective roles to a T. Among all of Song Joong Ki’s performances... This was my favorite. Indeed, a performance worthy of “The Godfather” film series.
The FL and ML were everything that Love and Redemption tried and failed at. This is just a vastly superior drama…
Me too, I loved it. Why only the FL has to always go “gaga” for the ML? It is refreshing to see a role reversal.
The other aspect that I loved about this Xianxia... Instead of the stereotypical ML pushing the FL away in order to protect her; both leads took turn at doing that to each other. I was screaming at my tv screen... “You go girl; do to him what he did to you.” He should feel what you felt.

And I also completely disagree with you. As someone else said below, personal perceptions are individually subjective. For me, the ML was nothing as you described. His early reservations about the FL were all understandable since they did not know each other. It was not a “Coup de foudre” type of storyline. His love for her gradually grew as the episodes progressed.
For me, our ML was charming, endearing and engaging... Definitely not childish or stubborn.
I only watched the first 12 episodes and a number of them were not subbed then. Once all 49 episodes are fully subbed... I am going to relax and enjoy my no longer little Leo.
Let’s get this straight... This Korean action/comedy thriller should get franchised. I need one or two more sequels. Light humor mix with great action scenes... Great combination.

Thank you. Exactly my thoughts. This Xianxia is soooooo much better than a 7.9 rating. My only complaint has nothing to do with the cast. I loved the cast. I only wanted to see a more developed heavenly realm. It felt that I was seeing just a small part of it.
Darren Chen and Zhang Yi Shang were entertaining from beginning to end. And that is what I call great chemistry, synergy and dynamic.
Ahhh I binged all 32 eps in a week and need season 2 to come out ASAP. I'm loving this couple and the story is…
I know... The FL is strong, funny, lovable and quirky. The same adjectives are also applied to the ML. We don’t find this kind of synergy, chemistry and dynamic often in DramaLand.
Contrary to the popular opinion... I loved this first season of The Storm of the World. It is a very rare occurrence for me to love a production from beginning to end. Even with the cliffhanger; which to me, is more of a bridge into the next season. This Xianxia was very entertaining with the proper amount of magic... It was very much “Love and Redemption” meets “Ancient Detective.” And the leading couple was simply so endearing. I found their quirkiness rather charming and engaging. The fact that I adored both Zhan Yan and Duan Mu Cui’s characters, without any complaints or reservations was extremely infrequent, for me. It also helped that neither one of them was annoying, obnoxious nor childish.
*Now, it is a waiting game for the second season. I also hope they release the opening instrumental OST. It is so beautiful.
I am so with you. Her character’s depiction in Twin Flower Legend was soooooooooo forgettable and bland. I am…
Although a strange character... I think the actress who played her deranged sister did OK, not her. Anyway, if Thomas Tong can make a complete blind man look unbelievably good... There is still hope for her in this drama.
*There are many factors to take in considerations when acting. Sometimes a bad script and a bad director can make one look at his or her worst...
Hello Ken, Maybe you can help me... I have been trying to find the instrumental music piece at beginning of each of the episode; however, without any success. Any chance that you mind know it?
This is a beautiful OST.
They are giving us no time to breathe...

Exactly my thoughts.
The rating on this platform does not do this Xianxia any justice.

More than often, they don’t dubb his voice.
His voice is so low and silky.
Very subjective.

She has so much charisma, stage presence and she can act.
I simply loved her in The Storm of the World.
