Oh, I didn't know that they dubbed the actor's voices... Well, this is another diference between chinese and american…
Although through my research it is said that it is because of dialect and slangs, I actually think that it is because of how China people speaks. There's a lot of tongue action going on and it makes the words mushy and "Rrr-ed" causing it to be SUPER hard to understand. But you've got a point in how actors should know how to act with their voices since it shows what kind of feelings they felt being in that character. Although I like voice dubbing but I also wish they will attempt to just use the actor's own voice in the future :) Thank you for reading!
honestly i dislike it not even from a regular viewer standpoint but for acting and filmmaking i feel like the…
Thank you for spending time on giving it a thought ! I don't think you're overthinking. Personally, despite liking this voice dub thingy, I also agree with you on why don't they just trained or work on their speech and voice patterns.
Because, obviously China produced very talented voice actors because voice actors voice acted for audio dramas too ( which means visuals are not needed so their voice is the main character and visuals ) So, it takes a lot to channel all kinds of emotions using just their voice and they somehow excel in it. This only proves that China invest on voice acting. Therefore, might as well just hire one of them to give a crash course for the actors instead of voice dubbing because every person has their own uniqueness in their voice. Or maybe just train them to speak clearly would've been enough. Who knows maybe after a few lessons, the actors found control over their voice and are able to voice act for audio dramas too ( which is a new career path for them XD )
But it is kind of understandable as maybe actors themselves might not have the time to do it. But nonetheless we do not work in their production team so until then we will never really understand why they always choose voice dubbing ;)
Great and informative article, thank you for writing it!
Most of the Cdramas are dubbed even if they used their own voices. Usually I get my information through DramaWiki. It's either I search for a certain character through the drama name or I just go through the list of dramas of any voice actors I know of :) Thank you for reading!
Great article! I watched a YouTube video about this subject. It was insightful. Honestly Iβm not a fan of dubbing…
Yes, sometimes bad syncing throws me off too! I agree with you. And I think you are able to check if the actors you mentioned above are voice-dubbed or not through wiki ;) Thank you for reading!
I checked out this article because of Luo Yun Xi's face haha! He's my most favourite chinese actor because of…
He's one of my favorite actor too! I liked him too much in Ashes of Love. Second lead syndrome just breaks my heart and all he ever wanted was to be loved. You should definitely check him out in Ashes of Love if you have not! ( You get to hear his own voice too) Usually I don't watch modern C-dramas but I also watched love is sweet because he's in it XD Thank you for reading!
Thanks for this article. I understand why they dubbed the shows but sometimes I can't with some voices. That why…
I try to watch my C-dramas with Chinese subs on so that I don't freak out and ask who is this when they show the character's names in Chinese characters. Though I like voice dubbing, there is no deny on how sometimes some voices throws me off too :) Thank you for reading!
Thank you for All the information but personally I hate dubbing in Cdrama and If I find or feel a show has a dubbing…
How about trying those that voice dubbed their own voices? Maybe it might change your perspective a little bit? Honestly, I used to avoid C-dramas mainly because of the voice dub. I was even disgusted by it. But one day, Bian Jiang voice just make all those walls tumbled. Now that I like the voice dubbing, I realized that I missed a lot of good C-dramas when they're in the hype. For me, it is fun to watch when the drama is hyped by everyone so I can see different opinions on it. Thank you for reading anyway! :D
I love Chinese dramas over any other country's. A little dubbing is fine. But sometimes I can't watch a drama…
I guess voice dubbing is a very personal preference. Everyone have their own likings to it but I have to agree with you on bad syncing as mentioned in the article. Thank you for reading!
This article made me realise that voices of many characters are not real...it's dubbed!!!! Such an eye opener.......…
Thank you for support ! Instead of being shocked that it is dubbed, I am more shocked at the fact that so many characters that I've watched are voice-dubbed by the same person ! Thank you for reading!
very nice read! it's an interesting topic. i remember how shocked i was when i first found out about voice dubbing…
Yes, there are really just times when I think that some actor's voices don't match the character. Just imagine having a more high-pitched voice for a very serious character. It just turns into a comedy XD Thank you for reading though!
The main reason why i cant watch Chinese dramas like i cant! it throw me off and cant feel the acting with the…
I used to think that way too ! Maybe you have encountered some bad ones. How about starting from those who voice acts for their own voices? Maybe it would change your way of seeing it and not miss any good C-dramas :) Thank you for reading!
Very interesting read. A fascinating reminder of how different perceptions can be, since I disagree on basically…
I think that China has always try to reach international viewers so maybe they think eliminating dialects and slangs it's easier for anyone who is new to Chinese as a language. Anyhow, thank you for reading and sharing your opinions :)
Great article ! I was unaware of dubbing until I watched You Are So Sweet (2020) drama which deals with the dubbing…
YES! I just love voice actors. Their voices are too beautiful to be true. I think clear pronunciation is the main reason why they voice dub. There are times when human are just so used to their own language and starts to mush words together to speak quicker. A local will understand it, of course, but not for those who are new to a certain language. Thank you for reading!
Amazing article! Those are the mainly reason why Chinese drama have it voice dubbed. I know some people hate it,…
Yes, everyone have their own preferences/opinions on voice dubbing. For me, it used to be an issue but I've come to like it now. I also have not encounter any bad voice castings. Maybe it's because I am pretty selective when it comes to C-dramas. I only watch ancient/historical dramas which I personally think it's a little better in production! Thank you for reading!
I can't feel the emotion while watching it. And I couldn't understand why there is so much music in Chinese dramas.
I realized modern C-dramas tend to have more of these issues. How about trying ancient/historical dramas as I think it is better in terms of music :) Thank you for reading!
