I’m biased as hell with this show. These two are my favorites individually so put them in a drama together and there’s already a lower chance of me being disappointed. It’s also because I watched the teasers and trailers as soon as humanly possible and I died inside. The plot and execution of the Korean drama was bland for me, and I didn’t really enjoy the main duo despite being huge fans of them individually. But I watched CWPFN years ago and barely remember it, I just remember reading the webtoon and some vague recollection of that. I watched this and it was “diabetes: the show” for me. Despite the clichés, I still love this version because it’s what pulled me out of my drama slump. Shen Yue and Jasper Liu have the cutest chemistry (to me) and I had butterflies in my stomach watching them. So this was just a wholesome hug that pulled me out of the crap I was dealing with and I smiled so much that my face hurt watching this. But I understand if people don’t like this, because that’s with any drama. Someone won’t like it (and that’s fine because there’s many dramas I don’t fully enjoy) and to whomever didn’t like it I hope you find a worthwhile show other than this. I don’t wish any hate on people when they don’t like it. In my mind I’m happy with how I was impacted by it. I’m concerned with how much I screamed at my laptop screen when watching this, because I saw something too cute. I could honestly gush about SY and JL but I shouldn’t because it’s an eyesore to read
Off topic. Why do Korean actors never reveal their relationship status? So my guess is they aren't allowed to…
Well it’s their privacy I guess. Also if they’re dating non-celebrities (the same thing applies to dating celebrities too), it’d be worse for the star’s loved one to be harassed for being in a relationship with a famous actor. Especially if the relationship is new and it doesn’t work out, no one outside of the people involved would have to know. I believe I saw news coverage on the messy divorce between Ahn Jae Hyun and Gu Hye Sun—which itself was painful to read through—but also how much of a lack of privacy that celebrities don’t have at that point. There’s also the fact of how fans would respond, as it could be very negative or positive depending on the fan base. The pressure for the relationship to work out, as well as the negative remarks or harassment are at extreme ends of the same spectrum. Celebrities are already put on a pedestal and in South Korea it’s even more toxic, and I’m not including idols. For me, it’s none of my business what relationships celebrities have, and I don’t really go out of my way to search for it. I’m not that interested, plus if I do hear about it I don’t really have my own subjective opinion about the relationship. Because it’s “good” if they stay together, and “bad” if they break up, especially if it’s a couple I like. I don’t enjoy thinking about that notion. But again, I don’t know these people personally, and I don’t know what truly happens. Keeping up with those kinds of details is not something I want to know, because I want to treat them the same way I’d treat someone else, with respect and privacy. If a celebrity intentionally revealed their relationship with someone else, I’m glad they had the opportunity to reveal it themselves and not have been stalked and had it leaked. I just prefer to appreciate them as people and such and don’t keep up with the relationship etc.
Um the main producer here is jTBC, sure Netflix probably partially produced it as well but they're just the main…
I believe that Netflix has some worthwhile romance korean dramas, in all honesty. This somehow reminded me of a woke fan fiction that was unfortunately distributed through the platform.
What I think about the show may be different to others but the dystopian genre is interesting to me due to the fact that—even if there are advancements in society around us, even if years pass no matter the number—human nature doesn’t evolve or change that easily. The stakes are higher because as medicine, technology, and inventions are progressing, those same marvelous breakthroughs can be twisted to one’s benefit more than it has now. Because no matter how much you change the world, those inhabiting it can take advantage of the newer advancements—to harm people in a more extreme way. The characters here are flawed in multiple aspects, but I’m fine with it because the beautiful moments I’ve had with the show trump the amount of times I’ve wanted to throw my computer away in relation to what happens in certain episodes. I genuinely must be reading too much into this because it may very well be crap writing. But the connection I have to the characters I hate, the characters I love, the setting as corruption unfolds in a city not too far from where we are now, all of it has kept me hooked. I do understand if people despise certain aspects (or even all of it) but I don’t believe that it’s terrible. For me it’s similar to reading Macbeth, if I had to be honest. I could never adore any of the characters in the entire play, but how I connected with each of them as I was drawn into a story that spoke about the most despicable aspects of people, that’s what kept me there in the moment. It’s not that deep though, it’s just a kdrama and doesn’t dictate life. It’s just a good idea with an enormous amount of potential, even though the execution is debatable to people. I still enjoy it, because it reminded me of Scarlet Heart (again a beautiful idea that didn’t live up to my expectations but I still cried and felt emotionally connected to the show). This must be why I like dystopia good grief.
Gosh Se Yoon and Hae Kang are the cutest. I didn’t expect that this show would have any sort of romance but the fact that it’s subtle and written in so beautifully is what makes me tear up. I’m so happy I decided to watch this show, as every other aspect is so awesome as well. This was worth the wait
Are they going to release all the episode in single day?
For some reason Netflix is saying that season 1 will come on May 11 instead of saying an episode will come on May 11th ( that it would air weekly ). I hope the entire season will come in one day ( because I believe they’re done with filming? )
I'm glad I could find peace with this drama after being so mad with the fact that it wasn't good at all. I love the cast, and music, but the plot and writing was terrible. Thanks to everyone here for providing a home for me to vent about love alarm ( now and in my review ), this meant a lot. Now, I'm going to watch Run On ^_^
