hm.... 350m is considered not that high for drama like this.
some unsuccessful dramas like Novoland Eagle Flag had a 500m budget and could produced one of the best war scenes in chinese drama history. but NEF was unsuccessful, so that's a rather risky.

it's like... the romance thing in this drama is making the whole historical setting feel weird and just waste of time. The female lead is unnecessary; I don’t know why they’re forcing her scenes into the show.
i wont recommend this drama if you are looking for romance, this kind of drama is far from that thing.

The only thing this drama lacks is war scene. It looks like they didn't have enough budget?

Actually, the first episode already hints that the story takes place after TBOY. First, Jin Xuan looks older than he was in TBOY (they even use the same actor). Second, when Jin Xuan tells the story of the Tianzhan sword to young Ye Zhixin, he mentions, '...until that elusive crown prince returned to Tianqi.' The person he’s referring to is Xiao Si, who wielded the Tianzhan sword near the end of TBOY (vs Luo Qingyang).

So, when Jin Xuan narrates the story, it is already after the TBOY timeline, and then the plot jumps 15 years forward (so at least 15 years after TBOY).

(Note: The subs say 'crown prince,' but it’s actually 'prince.' While it's a mistranslation, 'crown prince' isn't entirely wrong since Xiao Si held that title before being exiled.)

Are there any other historical dramas like this, but set in a less common era or dynasty? (not Song, Ming, Qing, Sun, Tang, Qin, Zhou, Han, 3 kingdoms)

are Ye Zhixin and the Holy maiden the same person?? their costume and make up are different, so i thought they were different people :p

Lei Lingze, Ye Zhixin, Hua Xiaohua, the Holy maiden, all 4 of them mentioned their shifu, but they never told us the name of their teachers or who are them

these four should be famous organizations, but what organization is Lu's Way? those 3 are common, but Lu's way? perhaps it appeared in other TBOY series but i forgot
