Just curious. If the ML is confirmed to be a korean spy, eventhough he is an unwitting one.And he falls in love…
It's my understanding that the movie is loosely based on memoirs of a North Korean defector.
So it makes sense that NK spy may have initially been meant as a spy, but as soon as he falls in love with the FL, and he sees the wonders of a democratic movement, that he decides to defect and join the pro-democratic movement.
I get JTBC is trying to snuff the growing fire, but they run the risk of contradicting themselves since there could be confusion on the intent of the ML.
It's no different than a republican suddenly becoming a democrat or vice versa.
As far as controversy. I know that any movie/drama that shows North Koreans in a sympathetic light will always have people against it. In fact, if you read up more on it, North Korean defectors in South Korea, are pretty much treated as second class citizen by South Koreans. And some are even suspected as being double agents are kept on surveillance even after defecting.
I read up on much of this after CLOY, because I wondered how North Korean defectors are treated.
There is this North Korean girl who has become popular lately, her name escapes me now, but you can find her on youtube.
some really think the director would have taken a risk by creating a revisionist plot that risks screwing up acting…
I don't know, IMO this controversy isn't a career killer, not quite clear why so many people think one controversial drama is enough to destroy a huge career like Jisoo has. At the worst, it's a tiny black mark, and that's it.
Jisoo is mega popular, and one bad drama won't change that.
Also, regardless if there turns out to be ZERO distortion of history, the damage is done, there will always be people who will feel it's controversial, so no need to focus on that to be honest.
Okay this is JTBC statement: This is JTBC’s statement regarding controversy about the drama “Snowdrop.”Following…
Just curious.
If the ML is confirmed to be a korean spy, eventhough he is an unwitting one.
And he falls in love with the FL who is either part of the pro-democratic movement, or at the very least is sympathetic towards it.
Doesn't this make the NK spy a participant in the pro-democratic movement?
Similar to how if a Republican who is dating a Democrat, suddenly showed up in a DNC convention, wouldn't people assume the Republican had suddenly become a Democrat?
"The solution, don't write a drama that can be easily misconstrued as something disrespectful, and you won't have…
Seems like you are personally attacking me versus what I am writing, as if you have some sort of bias against me. It became apparent when you brought up Start Up.
"This is the stupidest point i've seen so far"
So this statement by Daredaniel isn't as you say, "Hurtful and assertive"?
"Hyper conservative my ASS" by Tom_Scamco
This isn't aggressive either? But interesting you are only going after my comments.
I've actually been quite calm in my comments, and I rarely attack other posters, and If I inadvertently do so, I do apologize.
I've also had good conversations with opposing sides, and have always clarified what I write is my opinion, if you get convinced then great, if you argue against it, I would like to hear the logical argument. And saying "just because" is not much of a logical foundation.
MDL is in essence a forum for open debate, not one fan-sided ship wars, as often as it may happen. Start Up had devolved into a Ship War unfortunately.
Anyway, just like Blackpink has anti-fans, I can tell you are one of mine. I feel honored to have you on the opposing team. Although you are gaslighting me, you've at least attempted to be respectful about it.
I'm pretty sure nothing I will write anyway will change your mind on how you feel about me, since you seem to be harboring something since Start Up. Since you have clearly have no other intention on writing here but to "Attempt" to shame me.
If you really are good intentioned and want to help me be a more respectful poster, then feel free to send me a personal and private message, and we can have a thoughtful discussion.
If you continue to drive your anti-Kimsamsoom narrative here, then I guess we know what they call those who love to live under bridges.

Snowdrop is a Kdrama, big difference IMO.
If Jisoo's popularity nosedives because of this, it would not make any sense to me.
But yeah I am not so familiar with how crazy K-ent fans can be.

Good day to you!
Good idea to read up on it.
At least that is my understanding.
Forbidden love and against all odds angle
Could they not have made the romeo and Juliet storyline another way?
CLOY worked because both characters are mature over 30s adult.
In this one, one is a seasoned soldier, and the other is a freshman?
NK and so are so vastly different now. They it separate d less than 80 years ago that's barely a generation.
3 points for gryfyndor!
So it's not much different than CLOY
Kinda spolierish
