TBH even with all that going on the only reason it feels like too much is cause of how it's written. If the doppelganger…
I think KES wrote this drama with one central theme. A RESET button. When life gets hard, don't worry, we can just either switch with a parallel world, where you are Richer, your Son is alive, and etc... A parallel world, where no matter how heinious the crime, you can just escape there where no one will know you. Hate your fate? no problem, just rewrite your destiny.

The whole point of the doppleganger and parallel world is to show the viewers that, when times get tough, don't worry you can enter into another parallel world

I'm not surprised that this is the central message of KTEM, because in goblin, this same message is pervalent in the concept of multiple lives, four to be exact. In Goblin, viewers are made to believe that, don't worry no matter how much you screw up your life, no matter how bad you are to your wife, you can just get reincarnated, four times even.

I really think, that was the whole purpose of the parallel world, and it sends a bad message to viewers.

I guess that's the fantasy that KES is perpertrating, that we all dream to be able to just press that RESET button and escape and start a new life in a different world.

There are certain passages where Lee Gon's own qualities are emphasized. When he thinks about and finds solutions…
I think in the end, the writer, director and producer of the show underestimate their viewers.

They felt having KES, and LMH superteam would guarantee success of the show.

And this is where I feel US produced show are more succesful than eastern dramas. No matter the topic, whether it's law, medical, video game, time travel, science related, math and etc... They do the homework. Even if the majority of the viewing public aren't scientist or mensa grads, they do the homework, because they assume that most of their viewers will be critical, will fact check, will use google.

KTEM just fails to respect the viewers, just randomly throwing out theory of relativity, eulers, mathematical terms, in the hope that nobody bothers to check All of this is done to make LG seems smarter than he really is.

Just realized, even if TE and JY dies on the night of the coup. They will still not die, because their past selves are still alive.

ie. just like past LR and Future LR

The only one who can truly die here is LG and LR.

What silly logic. So all that drama about the one going with LR will die was moot. And all the scenes in the trailer showing bloody JY is poinltess.

Also another thing I realize, which has upset me. When this version of LR dies, his flute will also disappear, which means, LG, TE, and JY will all be stuck in the past. Also since the flute is no longer whole in any timeline, LG's flute should also disappear. Will this be explained in EP 16, or will this just be a plot hole?

How disappointing, i just figured this out. Kind of anti climatic.

P.S.

I'm really really hoping the ending isn't that. LR never goes to KOR, then LG, TE and JY all waits in the time space world for four months, only to come out and merge with Ji hun and TE, with LG taking over Ji Hun spot. lol

Shin Jae is supposed to show us how benevolent LG is but he goes off and does his own thing showing us how much…
Oh yeah, absolutely, SJ never stood a chance. I'm just saying personal prefernce, if I had to choose, I'd go for a SJ over a LG.

LG can be my boy toy lol, but he's not husband material. We would fight all the time.

Kim Kyung Nam, and Jung Eung Chae, i'm hoping will get more ML/FL lead roles after KTEM, their acting has overshadowed the LMH/KGE in this one.

When the PM cried in Ep 15, the emotion was so palpable. When TE cried, all I could say was "why are you crying again".

I like men with flaws.

LIke, I would feel pressured and insecure marrying someone like LG. Look no further than Meghan Markle in real life, she's struggling to fit into the life of royalty, it's not easy. And she's already a celebrity, so she has less hindrances.

Someone like SJ is just my cup of tea. We've had since HS to develop a friendship. We are partners at work, and we understand each other.

Just look at SJ and TE scenes, you see such a deep understanding of their tendencies and behavior. TE is most like herself when she's with SJ. Plus SJ is close with TE family.

When I saw TE pretty much tell SJ, "I know you love me, but I don't care" then to see SJ tear up. That was epically sad for SJ. Plus knowing that the mother he loved, isn't his real mom, SJ just can't catch a break.

WIth LG, TE morphs into this different person, and loses her individuality, and she will most likely be groomed to be a queen, thus further making her lose her individuality. In LG and TE's relationship, TE has shown more character growth and willingness to change for LG. LG on the other hand, is the same monotonous king he was in EP 1, we don't detect any shifts in his personality, or the way he treats people. If anything, the only noticeable shift we get of LG, is his perchance to be a ruthless, cold blooded ruler.

She will enter a royal palace, where she will have no friends, and abandon her family, and friends in ROK.

I'm currently rewatching episodes 1-15 before the finale comes out, and I still don't understand the scene where…
Most likely, it's just a confusing timeline of events, where the scene with the flowers disappearing is in the near future. We will also no doubt see contradiction of previous time travel rules it has set.

What we know is that after meeting LG and JY, TE and SJ have to detain LR for 36 hours as is police SOP.

During this time LG and JY had already travelled to the past as we can see. So most likely they have already changed the past, and LR will not go to ROK anymore. So the flowers disappear since LG and TE will not have met anymore.

And no, this doesn't mean LR is dead yet, or what not. But similar to the scene in back to the future, where when the parents of Marty Mcfly seems not to be getting together, Marty slowly disappears from the photograph. So a similar thing is happening here as the future is SLOWLY being rewritten, starting with the flowers.

That is why we see the sense of urgency from TE as she knows the window to rejoin LG is getting smaller, plus as she says, she cannot imagine life without LG. The flowers disappearing is showing the viewers that the timeline is changing.

The reason I state this is because from previously seen, it appears that both flutes need to enter the timespace world at the same time. Which is not possible due to the 36 hours I mentioned.

And I doubt LG and JY are waiting for TE. Because if TE shows up, LG will not allow her to be the one to escort LR, thus making her plea to SJ in ep 15 a moot point.

So, we're going to be seeing inconsistent time travel rules in EP 16, i'm pretty sure.

LOL,

that's not as bad as when she was in the makeup store, and we got a FULL explanation of that mist moisturizer being explained by the sales lady. That is essentially a commercial.

Does anyone else here feel that TE is merely a FOIL for LG? That in essence, the whole cast are just FOILS for LG, with TE and LR being the biggest offenders for this.

Each scene with LR, each mistake he does, each incompetence of LR, just makes us realize, how LG is really smart.

Each scene with TE, each tear she sheds, each time she swoons, forces us to believe LG is the sweetest man in the world.

I barely remember any scene where we realize the good qualities of LG on his own merit without having another supporting character there to confirm it. And no, suddenly realizing things out of thin air, and not showing how he realizes said conclusion do not count.

Everything she does after episode 8 just makes him look so great, peaking at the EP 11 "THIS IS SPARTA!" scene.

I made a Haiku for this:

A crying lady
In a Horseback I will come
Your shelter is here

Well, it's not exactly as you are saying. This drama has the ambition to say something universal about the duties…
This is all due to inconsistent writing.

When a writer wants to introduce a Foil, they normally do it in the beginning. But since they had already set up a strong character, they should have left it as is.

So what ended up happening instead is that midway thru the drama, TE is set up to be LG foil. Every scene of longing, every tear shed, and every "Damsel in Distress" moment is set up to show how amazing LG's character is.

BBQ Olive Chicken's PPL was very effective for me, they even show how crunchy it is.

I'm curious as to what part of LMH's acting made you go wow?

I haven't watched most of LMH's dramas, but does he always talk in a monotone, and remains emotionless for most of the drama?

Genuinely curious as I see many claiming this is the best of LMH. I on the other hand see these flaws.

Monotone Voice

Emotionless acting

Bad use of facial expressions during closeups (one of the strengths of Kdrama actor/actresses, even KGE is better at this in general)

Stiff posture and lack of any visible hand gestures

One dimensional acting, unable to portray the emotions felt during particular scenes. This is especially obvious when he is suppose to be acting in love, or sweet, yet still exudes this arrogant, and haughty demeanor.

I feel these flaws are my major gripes with LMH, and would like to get your take on why you think KTEM made you realize his greatness.

KTEM really had a good plot to work with, it had a great premise. But sometime after the first 20 minutes of Ep 1, it lost it's way, and it just never recovered.

Everytime I felt the show was recovering, introducing characters developments, and existential crisis, and what not, the show would take another dip.

Introducing LG as a flawed ruler, and have TE shore up his weakness, would allow viewers to see the importance they had for each other.

After a certain point, for some reason, they thought that excessive crying by TE was the right move. All it did was make me skip her scenes. Even in dramas I see where the chemistry is off the charts, I don't see as much crying.

As for LMH and LR, they too portrayed a perfectly black character and a perfectly white character, and it can get boring after a while. After all your viewers aren't young children, but sophisticated adults.

Well to be fair, if you take the fact it's by KES, take out the fact it's big stars, and just pretty much take out everything that made it so hype in the first place, and just consider it your average run of the mill drama.

You'll still be disappointed.
