Can someone tell me how much romance focused is this. I really want to watch it but holding myself from watching…
So far, very little, but it will probably have more moving forward.

The actual romantic screen time between the leads after the first 2 episodes won't amount to more than 30 minutes.

As of Ep. 7 the political parts is at the forefront.

Live airing watching has it's own fun. If you spend the time in the comment section and rationalize out theories and relationships, it can be engaging.

That makes much more sense. I mean, I don't think you have an idea of just how big Jisoo is. She is the most popular member of the most popular Kpop group in the world.

Anything but 1st place is a slap to her face.

I think that you and a lot of people forgot that they actually met and started to fall in love before. And during…
Stockholm syndrome aside (which by the way, I did not bring up in this particular comment) These questions brings up an interesting debate on whether the man who has perceived, and actual power, and the girl who has none of it, can strike up a proper romance that has no bearing on the power dynamic between the two.

If I am a secretary, and I fall in love with the CEO of the company, who is holding my job on the line. Is this a healthy relationship? And if said CEO actually threatened to fire me, and pointed the termination letter a few times at me. Could this still be a healthy relationship?

Like I said, the relationship in the beginning can be Cloud 9, and lovely dovey, and what not. But the fact that the man in this relationship, can at any time, or any angst point that termination letter at me, makes me question the relationship.

Another analogy. A man who is a professional boxer, and MMA fighter even. Marries a woman who is not. Is this a dangerous ticking time bomb? News articles about this particular type of relationship will agree.

Ok, I get South Korean's not watching it, since they may be afraid of being shamed by the public if they admit loving it.

But what is the excuse of the international audience?

Disney+ Asia has countries like Singapore, Japan, and India just to name a few. And I doubt they really care about all this controversy, based on the comments I see here.

Also, what is up with this not being more popular in MDL? It's not even top 100 most popular. And there is just not enough watchers. And FYI, not being on Netflix or Disney+ doesn't count. Look at Mr. Queen, highly rated, viewed by so many people, and it had tons of controversy as well. Plus it's adapted from a Chinese original one. And that drama had nowhere near the star power Snowdrop has.

This is Jisoo people!

I hope poison or some chemical substance comes into play somewhere in the drama.

It's literally one of the few things most people know about Romeo and Juliet.

It's standard for JTBC. But considering the cast, and the hype, and Jisoo, it's a bit low.

12th in DIsney+?

That's actually lower than I expected.

Since those country that has Snowdrop in Disney+ are big Kdrama consumers. And it's all in Asia, which is really huge Blackpink fans.

Kind of disappointed.

Does anyone understand why they suddenly want to kill all of them, including their agent and hostages? What's…
They don't want to. Only Nam Tae il wants, because he is a brash lunatic.

But realistically, even if they were to kill everyone, they can just blame the NK terrorist and create Nationalistic pride, since there is already so much NK hate anyway.

So it's a win-win situation for most people. The only one who loses is Young Ro's dad, since he seems to actually care for his kids. And the stepmom would lose as well, since she needs exactly 13 deaths only.

Kang Moo dying would be excellent for ANSP, because he is too much of a goody goody to be working for the corrupt ANSP.

In a relationship between a man and the woman. Can it be considered a healthy one if the man has all the power, perceived and actual.

If that man in power, gives you flowers, chocolates, and jewelry, does this mean that he has relinquished his control?

If the man you are dating, has the power to fire you, does this make the relationship and love from the girl less genuine?

These are the question the drama forces us to ask.

Who's the civilian? Or do you mean hypothetically?
It's really going to heavily depend on how "Evil" they can make the people Soo Ho and Young Ro are against.

They are going to have to make Gyeok Chan and Cheong Ya unredeemable villains at this point.

Also, they are going to need to make Young Ro's dad a total baddie for this all to hit home.

They are essentially creating an us versus the "World" dynamic, which is what Romeo and Juliet essentially is.

But if they make the "World" they are fighting sympathetic, the run the risk of that message falling flat, and people remembering that Soo Ho himself has villain tendencies.

At this point, it's very clear that the ANSP, SWAT and etc... are just following orders, and only Nam Tae il and the Chief is the truly evil one. The writing needs to fix this part, and make more ANSP members evil for this angle to work.

People are already getting frustrated about the hostage situation because of it's length. In fact, as long as the drama stays in the dorm, we are reminded that this is a romance whose foundation is a power discrepancy. Even if Soo Ho is acting all sweet, and bandaging Young Ro's hands, he is still the man with the gun. He is still the man in power. Although I find it weird that Young Ro doesn't seem to fear the gun at all, LOL!

Who's the civilian? Or do you mean hypothetically?
Any civilian. Meaning non-military. The innocence of the civilian are debatable. Like for example Prof Han would be considered a civilian. ANSP, Soo Ho and his comrades are not.

We have to remember at this time NK and SK are still at war. And I know the show is trying to paint every death as unredeemable. But realistically, the opposing side dying in a war is considered justifiable, depending on who you feel the protagonist is.

For example, in any James Bond movie, he kills tons of terrorist, but we are ok with it, since they are bad guys. And so when girls fawn all over him, we buy into the romance.

I believe this is the angle the show will take. If the people being killed, tricked, betrayed, and hurt are the "Bad Guys" or "Antagonist", then that may be enough emotion to sell the romance between the main couple. Similar to the James Bond example I made.

So the goal of the remaining 9 episodes is to make every single remaining person unlikeable and incompetent, and portray Soo Ho and Young Ro as the victimized trapped pawns. That way the ambiguity of who is good or not doesn't matter anymore.

The hostages become the barometer of goodness. Whoever wants to save the hostage is on the good side, and whoever wants to see them all blow up is the bad guys.

Now whether this hits the mark with the audience or not is something else together. Some viewers may never be able to get past what Soo Ho did initially, because if someone is willing to pull a gun on you even for the right reasons, it would be very easy for them to pull a gun on the future on you for whatever reason.

It's like that saying, "once a cheater, always a cheater". If Soo Ho is willing to put Young Ro's life up for auction in a self-preservation feat, who is to say he won't do so again in the future.

I meant that just because people have had parents doesn't mean they will not be good people.

I don't. Just that she died 10 years ago. And most likely nicer than the stepmom

If ANSP is bad, and soon ho kills 10 of them. Does that make those deaths acceptable?

I say yes. He can kill 1,000 ANSP and it's ok, he can even kill young ros brother and it's ok. Because this is war, and people die in war.

Killing a civilian though is unredeemable.
