If Jisoo's debut drama didn't have to face this many protests, I bet she'll surpass every idol actress in SK.…
I'm not familiar with other idols, but didn't most of them start out as supporting cast?

I think he is a fake North Korean spy. Which means he is most likely being used by the South Korean government.
fake north korean spy would mean he is south korean. He has been shown to truly be north korean.

I really get what you are saying.Let's ask though, what is the angle of the writer? He must have known somehow…
If the showrunners truly had ZERO idea that their drama could possibly be controversial. Then I'm sorry, that just makes them very obtuse people.

It is possible that they knew it would be controversial, but didn't expect the severity of the backlash, it was a miscalculation on JTBC's part. Which is weird, since JE just got cancelled for a similar reason. What is their obsession with using real historical characters for their dramas?

I hope that moving forward they stop using historical figures, they've already been burned twice.

I agree, whether it's international fans, koreans or whoever starting these rumours, twitter, ig, reddit post, it doesn't matter, they have an intention. Whether it's propoganda, being an anti-jisoo, or whatever, I agree with you they have an ulterior motive. Just like the writers may have an ulterior motive themselves. What it is? I don't know.

I'm just miffed the show is clouded in all this controversy, it makes it hard to separate what is happening from the show. I am trying my best to be an objective viewer of the acting, plot, and direction of the show, but the underlying historical/political context has made it harder. But I will try my best, as this show deserves a fair shake.

even if they do decide to cancel it, the show is done filming already. So it's just a matter of time before it…
Not sure about that

But the reason JE got cancelled seem really really insignificant. If they cancelled JE for those reasons, they should have cancelled snowdrop as well, since the reasons are quite similar.

Korean celebs have had their scandals cleared, and yet people still trying to cancel them. So I doubt it.
Hopefully not

I think jisoo is just too popular to have this ruin her.

I don't think that NSA girl know the students are faking it
I really like boon ok and I feel bad as I feel she's being ostracized by literally the whole school.

I didn't enjoy the way they treated her. I actually dislike most of young ros dormmates, except for the best friend of young ro.

I am theorizing she is a nk spy.In same episode the nk spy eats cyanide, all 3 men try to get him to spit it out,…
Ahh, I suspected this, but wasn't sure.

That would make a lot of sense.

For some reason, I also feel Young Ro's brother is not long for this world. Just like Romeo and Juliet, I feel there will be a string of deaths.

And I welcome it, would make the story more interesting.

How about we watch the drama to find out? The two episodes that have aired already are only 12.5% of the story.…
Oh, no way, the politicians are getting involved? That's pretty big then. I am more curious about this.

So snowdrop has become a political ploy, interesting.

I like it, reminds me of other similar plot lines from other spy movies. Hopefully they can pull it off.
To be honest, no matter what direction they go, people will get offended. They have already created so much ill-will for the drama to come out unscathed.

Look no further than korean celebs who are cleared of their wrongdoings in scandals, and yet still retain their legion of Anti's.

I don't care so much on the controversy, I want to see the acting, writing, and direction. Everything else is just noise to me. So far, the writing has not been impressive, hopefully it improves.

Boon ok missing Sun ho once, find I can accept, as ludicrous that scene was. But 3 times? I don't get it.

I feel the characterization of Boon ok is inconsistent, is she supposed to be stupid? But she seems so shrewd, and she loves to eavesdrop, yet she misses simple things?

Seems like she's being scapegoated as the villain of the women's dormitory and it makes me feel bad for her, because of how hard she tries to fit in, but all the girls look down on her. This is the same boon ok who seem to have a soft spot for young ro as well.

I felt the writers could have made literally anyone else the villain of the dorm, and boon ok was a poor choice due to her already sympathetic circumstances.

This is precisely the reason I feel Sun Ho will die in the end. He has literally escaped death way too many times to survive in the end. But who knows.

Why create a story that can be misconstrued in the first place?

I personally have not written one IG, Twitter, or Reddit theory. I am just basing this of my personal research on Wikepedia. And as I have said I have no problem if they take creative license on historical events, I don't view that as distortion. And even if it was, it's not a big deal.

I just don't understand why people are given multiple warnings and still push through, as if they are so cocky and confident that they can overcome the controversy. And if they don't or can't? then their drama has an asterisk, is scarred. Just doesn't make logical sense.

The fact that JTBC has to defend themselves 2, 3 or even four times, has to send the show with approval to the Blue House, and etc... These are all red flags that your show will get backlash and be controversial.

It's like someone saying, hey guys i'm going to make a movie and show you that the romans were correct to crucify Jesus, or a movie showing why hitler was actually correct.

Or, better yet, imagine a movie that shows women being sexually assaulted and the perpetuators get away with it without consequences.

These are hot topic issues, and the red flags were all there. What is the reason why the director, even with warning of possible controversy really wanted to push the story?

But as you said, it's only two episodes, and who knows, maybe we will find out why it is important to show what the director decided to show.

P.S.

If all the writer wanted was to show NK and SK work together, then look no further than many many Korean movies out there that have successfully did that. One of the best for me being JSA and welcome to Dongmangkol just to name a few.

I think you should be very careful about judging people by their viewing choices. Maybe people don't like to be…
That's the thing. Other dramas that have dealt with poor and corrupt politics have not been as discussed. And thus, now this is in the spotlight and it in essence opening older wounds. If this was a less hyped drama, and you don't read it in so many articles, and discussed in public forums, maybe people won't think about too much. But as much as they try to avoid, it's being discussed in multiple places.

The reason for all the controversy? I don't know myself. As i've stated as always, I don't find the whole thing a big deal at all. There are way more controversial stuff there. But I will respect people who do feel offended, as it is their right.

I read the synopsis that other poster placed. NK and SK spies working together... meh, i've seen this done quite a few times, and always in a movie setting, I highly doubt a drama, especially with this type of a run time will capture the nuances of it, as I am sure there will be too much filler scenes to create the necessary impact such a coupling would create.
