The protests against this drama are not about taking down Jisoo or Jung Haein. There are valid reasons this drama…
Your right, it probably should not have been made. The political aspect doesn't enrichen or add anything to the romance story. I'm a bit surprised both Jisoo and Jung Haein thought it was a good idea to sign on to this.
Having said that, it was produced, and it is already airing. Jung Haein, Jisoo, and many other people have worked tirelessly to see this show to fruition.
Are there things fundamentally wrong with the drama? Absolutely.
Is this drama a propaganda piece? Most likely.
Should we shame the people who are watching for their favorites? No we should not.
Should we try to shame people to now watch it by guilting them on a broken moral compass. Absolutely not.
If you want to respectfully protest the mistakes the writers made by pushing through with the drama, that is your empirical right. But try to avoid making people who want to watch and enjoy it seem like they are lowlier than filth by watching it.
Watching a drama, and supporting the wrong ideologies it portrays are two different thing. Some people just want to watch for entertainment, nothing more than that.
Even if my favorite was not in this show, I would personally still watch it because I feel it's an interesting part of Korean history, and it has spurned me to do my own research to understand the truth about the series. I have learned a lot about korean history and politics by doing my own research.
Great visuals, great production value, stunning scenery. Lukewarm plot, horrible pacing and tone, complicated…
Yes of course, regardless if our opinion on a particular show will be different, that doesn't mean we cannot be courteous, helpful and respectful of each other!
Basically it reminds me of the story in the drama IRIS, where despite their outward hostility, there are parties…
We are on the same boat, I don't believe in censorship as well. Controversial films/dramas open up the topic for discussion, which can be a healthy way to increase our understanding of this subject.
I am sure that because of Snowdrop, people have been doing their own research, myself included to find out the actual truth.
Unfortunately, whether South Korea, America or wherever else in the world, sensitive people who get easily triggered will always exist, and they will want to cancel whatever irks them at that moment in time.
It's the new reality.
What kind of annoys me on MDL some times though, is if you are not on the side of the popular opinion, you just get labeled a hater or troll. Most people don't bother taking the time to open their mind and understand that people have differing opinions.
worst comes to worst, if they do get cancelled, the whole series has already been filmed, just waiting to be released. So they can probably just sell it to Netflix or another streaming company. It will get released.
I'd be pretty shocked if it get's cancelled to be honest. It's not that big of a deal from my perspective.
A petition was started to take down JTBC, but it won't go anywhere, and is more symbolic than anything else to…
American cancel culture is no better really. The generation of young adults have really gotten onboard the whole social justice warrior bandwagon, getting outraged over every single thing.
You found me out!
Good thing we have such a strong man as yourself to put me in my place.
I mean your obviously smarter than me since you joined MDL earlier and you have VIP status.
I really need to contact the MDL mods to increase my salary. I am not getting nearly paid enough to deal with fun loving people as yourself :)
P.S.
You still didn't share your master plan to do "Something" when the ratings go below 8. Or is this a top secret mission only for fun loving people?
They are not the one who committed the atrocities.
They are simply the media and broadcasting company that wants the international audience to be aware of this chapter of South Korea's history.

I respect you for not blocking me :)

I still believe it is their original marketing strategy, but many people have argued otherwise, so I will leave it at that.
