I think she knew telling NYS that they should part for the time being would not hurt him. And she was right, he did not complain or plead with her about it. At least this time, she did not tell him she did not love him, though even if she did, I doubt NYS would still believe her. She was really lucky she had someone who loved her as much as NYS did. Her trauma 7 years ago roused her survival instinct to such degree as to make her seem selfish. In fact she was just depressed - what she termed as being a living corpse. But her care for her friends and patience with SZJ even though he had caused her much trouble indicated her heart was still there. Towards the end, she showed signs of warming up even more. She helped NYS regain his sanity. She could have let NDY die when he collapsed in her house but she saved him. She could have sold SFT PP's shares but she did not. She could have begged off going to NDY's funeral but she went. All these happened before she knew NDY did not have anything to do with her dad's death.

When NYS asked Mark if he only used Vicky to get to him, Mark's answer, "If I said no, would you believe me?" indicates he might have loved Vicky. Like TJ, Mark was consumed by hatred. If Vicky has as much love for Mark as NYS has for TJ, she might be able to help him get over that hatred. The life expectancy of leukemia patients is 72 years so they still have a lot of time to make up.

I thought so, too; finding out PP was his son brought NYS a new lease on life. I was super disappointed with TJ for breaking up with him again. But it was understandable that she didn't want to be with him while still grieving for SZJ who was probably murdered by people in a company NYS was heading at the time. And I think he understood that's why he didn't make a fuss about it. TJ had a hard time trusting anybody in the Nie family but in the end she did, rejecting SFT's attempt to use PP's shares in the boardroom battle

I'm enjoying rewatching the series knowing that the FL is not as heartless and unworthy as I was afraid she would be, that the grandpa is not as ruthless and that the ML and FL have become more than friends before she asked for the second break-up. I didn't even know they had hooked up until she asked for a break. I thought they were just on friendly terms for Pingping's sake.

I became wary of the SML ever since he hired the FL. This suspicion shielded me from his charms, so I'm not depressed at what happened to him. Since the main leads have their happy ending with Pingping, I'm happy. I'm sorry for the SFL, but she knew what she was in for when she married the SML even though she knew she was being used. She said she wanted to know how much she loved the SML. Hopefully she got her answer and move on so she and the SML can start all over.

I'm happy with the ending and amused at this funny side of Wallace. No wonder he looks so young. He's got great attitude.

Now that I know the SML's true color, I'm amazed at the web he spun, even before the start of the drama. Might he have engineered his meeting with the SFL in Belgium? And it was really too much of a coincidence that he became the SFL's boss.

I now doubt his first meeting with the FL was a coincidence either. He would most probably have investigated the FL's whereabouts knowing her relationship with the ML and planted that customer who was mishandling the pastries at the cake shop. And, knowing that the FL was good at English and the duty manager was not, he required the explanation letter to be written in English so he would have a reason to hire her as his private assistant. Might he also have engineered the happenchance of the FL and the SFL working at the same company?

Was Mr. Quan working for him? Did he have anything to do with the accident 7 years ago?

Did he love the SFL at all? He must have, considering how remorseful he looked at the end. But the best way he could prove his remorse is if he relinquishes his position at the company. This really begs for a second season.

I've been rewatching this and just realized that the characters were sitting on a proverbial volcano that was about to erupt from the beginning of the drama. And I'm not talking about the lead couple's relationship woes. A sinister force that viewers would tend to overlook while caught in the grip of the lead couple's struggles was closing in. Being aware of this made me appreciate the ending and the whole production more. I'm impressed with how well secrets are hidden and revealed.

This drama shows how destructive rash judgements can be. So, beware of wolves in sheep's clothing and be mindful of sheep in wolves' clothing.

the story is about much more than the relationship of the leads and the boy. it's so well done and the acting outstanding that I'm amazed, while rewatching this, how the whole story was woven

This drama uses familiar themes but is a great example of how superior acting and direction elevate a mundane plot into a superb production. And I think that is the intention, to tell a story of familiar characters in familiar circumstances but in a heartfelt and powerful way. In no other drama have I been as moved by a character's recovery of his memories as when the train in the ML's head went hurtling towards the red light then finally stopped. I watched this scene with bated breath, right hand gripping the sofa arm and burst out crying when the ML's memory came back.

Yes, ending is satisfying

Regarding why NYS did not react about their second break-up as violently as he did the first time, I think it was because he had matured and gotten stronger, not because his love had deteriorated. Also, this time, TJ indicated it was a temporary breakup and NYS was certain they would get back together.

what makes this drama great is the acting and the manner in which familiar storylines are woven to create a powerful realistic tale about love and hatred

I understand how a writer might be disappointed that her/his take on how the drama should end was not followed. I also wanted some story arcs to go certain ways. But re-watching the last episodes made me appreciate the final product. For example, I really wanted to see a wedding ceremony for the leads. But it might be too cheesy at this point. And of course, I wanted SFT and SQ to be together, but it would be unrealistic. Given what SFT did, i.e., using SQ and TJ and stabbing NYS in the back, it would take another season to give a fairytale ending for the second couple. So I'm happy with the ending and hoping for another season.

I thought it was beautifully crafted and all came together satisfactorily at the end. Vicky's storyline was open-ended. I won't be surprised if a second season is being planned for her and Mark

Sun Zhi Jun was in and out of prison for the last 7 years. Up to the end, Pingping still carries his name. That is, there is no mention of PP actually taking the Nie surname.
