Review Lovely Runner
I also wanted to add because you talked about my expectaions. I wanted Lovley Runner to be as good, consistent…
if u want an interesting comparison u should check out shining for one thing. it has similar plot. love that show too but the tone was so drastically tragic even when it went down the cute school romance route u could feel the sense of foreboding to remind u that it's actually pretty sad.

nah I've been following the show since casting. The first teasers were so ridiculous and over the top like her kissing the sunjae standee and talking to her screen that the first ep was pleasantly a little more than what I bargained for. but they maintained that light and airy feeling no matter how many times bad shit happened and i loved that. kdramas have lost the art of a rom com these days. they quickly devolve into heavy melodrama unlike what they're advertised. but lovrun kept their promise. The tone was decidedly old school rom com and the melodrama undertones only served to get u invested but never got too dreary or heavy for a Monday to Tuesday evening drama. everyone's already tired from work week starting so lovrun was a great pick me up as advertised

I think your concerns regarding representation and serial killer plot are very valid but I find the sol's "lack of regard" for non sunjae entities to be a very malicious misreading coz as I detailed the show very obviously showed a frame by frame timeline by timeline update on how life changed for the better for everyone apart from just sol and sunjae
First u said the show said she didn't care about them at all now u say it was done but it wasn't done 'deeply' enough and that's fine. I don't think it was a particularly deep or serious show at all. it was just a show that advertised itself as a silly fantasy rom com and delivered a fantastic silly rom com

have a good day!

Review Lovely Runner
some of yall watched the show with both eyes closed coz wdym she didn't care about anyone but sunjae ? she saved the house from being burned down and her mom from the fire. in the og timeline she was dead set against her mother moving on but as a mature adult in her new timeline she has a wonderful moment of letting go and understanding that her mother too needs a partner although that's not what it turned out to be. she changed her brother's and best friend's whole lives. hyunju went from being a stay at home wife of a broke man to pursuing her job happily while geum also chased his passion of acting coz she made them rich. taesung was a delinquent drop out who no one heard from again. in the new timeline she remained friends with him and he grows up to be more well balanced and accomplished.

saying she spends no time with her family is wild coz every ep there's a scene with her doing chores or hanging out with her family. in the new timeline she's literally in a joint family setting and taking care of her nephew. very obviously she centers them a lot.

The show is about how a seemingly inconsequential few words or actions can change the course of someone's life. a boy didnt wake sol up on a bus out of fondness but unfortunately that snowballed into her getting into an awful accident. a few words of comfort from sunjae saved sol's life. a few words of compassion from sol and her constant presence alone drastically improved taesung's life. and the pretty girl next door holding an umbrella over your head to shield u from the rain u hate in a terrible time of your life might just lead u to fall in love immediately and then keep falling once u get to know the girl and realize she's wonderful. lovely runner IS about the small everyday inconsequential things that shouldn't matter and escape notice but in the right context they change your life

half the things u critique is already explained by the show. sunjae was devastated by his injury ruining his swimming career but there's literally half an ep about how he's the kinda person that is happy he loved even if he lost. he can make peace with his dreams being shattered coz at least he tried his best. The reason he never moved on from sol in timeline #1 was guilt. he believes he didn't try his hardest to save her. The possibilities and the what ifs are what held him down then. without that he's a very emotionally mature and well adjusted person.

The comparison to twinkling watermelon is bizarre. ofc twinkling watermelon has a far greater emphasis on family than lovely runner coz tw was the ml going back in time to essentially save his parents. it was entirely about him and his family. this just looks like u were searching for another twinkling watermelon and when it became clear that lovely runner is not that ur mad at it when u came in with the wrong expectations in the first place.

if u wanna say sunjae has more focus than her family and friends that's true coz lovely runner is a romantic comedy that centers a romantic relationship but saying sol had blatant disregard for everyone but sunjae is just a bold faced lie coz everyone's lives in timeline #4 is different than it was in timeline #1

Thank God m not the only one who didn't like this story . He was very arrogant and selfish while blindly in love…
In Asian shows and movies the parents are shown as the bad guys for opposing their kid's true love coz they don't /get/ it but I'm on zhu yun's parents' side on this. Nobody wants to let their daughter marry a person like this.

I think in the drama they won't make it too cringe. Since bai lu took that role, I'm sure she would pick good…
yes the way she keeps chasing him is cringe and her reason isn't good enough for it to be understandable either but i did like the couple in the latter half of the book

Yup lulu has the best script sense and I did hear that they changed a bunch of stuff in the drama script
