In 11 episodes, there has admittedly been some time wasted here and there on non-essential details that could have been by the by mentions or references and not whole scenes, but over all I have enjoyed watching this show, and I really like Taichi as a character, as well as the actor. He has been outstanding.
One final episode left, and considering the short length of the episodes, it does seem like the wrap up may be a little sudden although I hope not. It will likely just be the 'getting together' lose end that needs to be tied up, since that's all that is left that needs closure from the show's context. I'll be happy to see them facing their mutual feelings and deciding to be together as a closing scene, if that's what it'll be, but I hope it's done well and organically and not rushed.
As for the type of show this is, we see it in fanfiction a lot, and I honestly would tag this as pre-slash (prior to getting together for those unfamiliar with the term slash). This show is more about the build up to them admitting mutual feelings and not them actually being together romatically. Just a heads up for new viewers looking for a straight up BL, you'll be strapping in for pre-relationship feels here. But it's a good show, worth watching. I look forward to the final ep.
Me: *reads comments about how young Liu Dong Qin looks while being unable to not notice the bad cover up job the foundation does on his thick stubble growth*

It is a censored BL from China, that didn't pass censorship so China took it down anyway. There is no overt romance because it's not allowed in China, but it has undertones connected to the BL novel novel and also some extra points included by the screenwriters, as well as a lot of eye f*cking from Ruan Lanzhu, and coy to flirtatious looks from Jiushi.

On top of The Spirealm and Link Click, I can definitely vouch for Strange Tales too, I am actually so annoyed I have to wait for 2 eps a day because I don't have a WeTV subscrip. It's really good, I don't know why Zhiguang was saying his acting in his older works is not good, because he's very impressive, in fact the whole cast is, don't you think? I love the fight scenes. As for I am Nobody, I think somebody else might have recc'd that one to you 🤔

I did say that, I remember typing it some time, and I stand by what I said. It's only willful blindness of anyone who sees 'platonic' in this show. Also, the show keeps key non platonic relationship development points from the novel, which makes it even more obvious.
For me personally, I like it. Btw, Lyson. Have you watched cosmetic playlover??
CPL definitely had a steady flow. But I love the character and story depth in Sunspot, I am a sucker for it. SDL is good, I'd recc it, also a good pace, as for Huole and Song He, they are too entertaining, when Song He got upset because Huole grabbed his arm roughly after he'd been beat up and Huole like 'aaaww, does it hurt, let me fake blow it better for you big baby' 😂😂

Hey, yeah, I did watch it, it was enjoyable consistently from ep 1 to finish. It had good character growth and background relationship development and the time lapses were handled well despite the short episodes. Did you enjoy it? Sunspot and Sugar Dog Life are currently in my top spots for JBLs.
Xia Zhiguang. The same actor as Ruan Lanzhu, but not related to the character or story, just a filler for the…
In terms of the series story, it's open to interpretation, so you can choose to imagine Ruan Lanzhu is modelled after Jiushi's best friend, many people have their ideas and theories, fiction is all about fun. But in terms of actual filming/plot reasons, it was just for convenience of filming. Gao Dawei was only created in the series for the sake of the 'game' premise which doesn't exist in the novel, technically his character was not meant to take on any visual focus.

Yeah np. Gao Dawei was a plot device filler for the series, he doesn't exist in novel, so he didn't need a standalone actor, he just needed a physical presence for certain events, hence letting Zhiguang fill the role.
This is a very forgettable BL. The eps were short enough at least that watching it to completion wasn't too much of a hardship, even though some skipping was necessary at times. Compared to the other JP BLs of 2024 so far, some of which have been/are serving big time, this BL fails to stand up or stand out.
I haven't watched but I have questions. The original adaptation is bl but this is just "bromance" right? But still…
It does not pass censorship for the forced 'bromance' tag on Cn BL adaptation dramas, so China will not allow iQiyi to air it. The non platonic nature of the relationship is a bit too obvious in places.
Great episode, but ngl, every time Sheng Wang digresses to acting like a moody 10 year old towards his 'step mom' I really wanna punch him in the face 😂
Yall I havent started this yet but why is the rating so low. In was rlly looking forward to this, is it actually…
MDL ratings are like the points on Whose Line is it Anyway, they're made up and they don't matter. Like most underrated BLs on here, this is only 4 eps in and already better than the mainstream BLs that get overhyped to death. And the ML's look so good together, their height difference reminds me of the leads from Semantic Error.

Good show though.
